Hey all I figure it's time for an update about my progamer for a day experiement. You can read the original OP here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=252604
and a couple of updated blogs throughout the process
Here and Here

Honestly, it was so hard to do. To stay focused was treacherous. I couldn't even finish the day. I was hot, sweating, tired, my eyes hurt, and I was frustrated. My morning session went GREAT. I was owning kids, beating "favored" and "slightly favored" diamond players (I'm in platinum), and I thought "well this is gonna be a good day."

...not so...

I had lunch, checked out a few replays for analysis (as according to my schedule in the original OP), and watched a GSL VOD or two. But then I started laddering again...

omg I went 2-11 over the course of a two day span. I'm sure it was worse than that, but my match history has since scrolled to far down and I'm not motivated enough to check it. But it's ridiculous, I'm beating players significantly better than me, and now I'm losing to these kids that are awful. It's really frustrating and I'm wondering if my little experiment did more harm than good.

Another note, I need to buy Gunnars. I spend to much time in front of the PC to not buy them. My eyes are precious little babies getting shaken by a drunken father. It's painful

But yeah, just letting people who were asking about this know about what happened.

i was thinking about doing something like this about two or three weeks ago, i started at 8 and played for a whole two hours without stopping, and then the maintenance happened. its quite hard to focus on only one thing for a fucking long time ( i have a bit o ADD), and even when playing the thing i like, yeah your eyes start burning really badly T.T

Imagine going through the open bracket at MLG.
When you came along so righteous with a new national hate, so convincing is the ardor of war and of men, it's harder to breathe than to believe you're a friend. The wars at home, the wars abroad, all soaked in blood and lies and fraud.

Seems like a fun experiment. Will you recommend the same experience for other aspiring semi-pros?
Thank God and gunrun.

Think of it as a wake up call, and an opportunity to learn instead of blaming your losses on people that you consider unskilled. Your notion of skill seems kind of arbitrary, if you really felt you weren't playing your best then maybe your approach of grinding games isn't efficient. Perhaps you should focus on improving your mindset and looking for leaks in your play while trying to remove your ego from the game altogether. If streaming while you play pressures you into "looking your best" rather than playing your best, maybe you shouldn't stream (Day9 said that is why he smurfs when he ladders). Just keep trying to find a method that works for you, and don't give up!

I think you make a lot of great points. Streaming does put a lot of pressure on me. I've never been able to explain my losing streaks while streaming and my winning streaks while not. I always thought it was just sick irony, but maybe it has something to do with the pressure.

Not really to be honest, but I would recommend a schedule for practicing if you want to improve your play. "Laddering while I have time..." hasn't ever really worked for me and it I reckon it won't for most players. "Today I'm gonna ladder for x amount of hours and practice x, y, and z," will be much more effective.

I need to set a schedule for while I'm at university, but my summer schedule has been like:

noon: wake
wake till 4: errands, lunch with girlfriend, practice
4 till midnight: work
midnight till about 1:30 or 2: vods/other starcraft

I had some GF time sprinkled in there, but we both worked a ton this summer so we barely ever hung out.
