I found nothing, new, about this anywhere so sorry if it has been brought up in a special topic allready.

While the MLG's after Dallas both were good there seemes to be no real improvement anymore (well, this time there were "no/nearly no" technical problems as far as I can tell, which is an improvement, but I'm not talking about technical difficulties).

Why are there still not shown most of the later games and how are the games that are shown actually picked?
Why are there still downtimes on the streams while games that would be really interesting to the viewers are running?

Why are there still the same problems remaining since like.. the first SC2 MLG altogether?
I had a blast when games were actually running... But in the end? Due to the downtimes I just stopped watching/caring about the games at all and didn't watch the Semi-Finals/Finals... Whenever I went back to the PC I saw a stream of the crowd... Waiting, so sooner or later I just didn't care at all anymore... The tournament, for me, got less and less exciting as it went into the later rounds, which is very strange if you think about it.

It's just puzzling to me... Why is it so hard to stream "random" games, replays or to jump into an ongoing series between games? Not seeing some of the later matchups really pissed me off. And why, if not games, is there next to no other content shown at all?
The nice thing at for instance the GSL is, that you get the games in "rapid fire" mode... Now I know that this comparison is not fair due to the nature of the events and MLG will never be as "quick" as GSL, but there have to be ways to improve this?

These "problems" aren't new, is there improvement on the horizon? I hate to "read" to tournament from a bracket page when I'm actually watching the tournament. Dreamhack did this much better... While watching Dreamhack my biggest problem was to decide which game to watch (except during the Xlord and Goody delays ).

In short:
Now there are running streams... Why aren't they used most of the time?

Now that you mention it I kinda agree, at DH you basically had a constant flow on games to watch on different streams and it built a better 'feeling' for the tournament.

I think Sundance wanted to make the streams they had work near flawlessly before adding on more (I think he implied that during an interview with Rakaka) and cudos for taking things slow. Hopefully next MLG we'll have more streams. A suggestions would be to look at how DH did it with off-site casters, worked like a charm!
Meh meh?

there was a pretty huge issue with the stream going blank when cutting to a break all the time, but aside from that it was ok on the technical side. but yeah, how hard is it to have someone in every game that they can stream off? really wanted to watch ret/socke while waiting for boxer/rain

get a gold account and use the DVR dude

whenever there was downtime on red stream, i'd go watch the rebroadcast of the blue stream

generally the next game on blue stream lasted just long enough to keep me busy until the red stream went live again

except for day 3, in which there were a lot of delays due to so many long TvTs, i was never more than around 7 minutes behind the live cast

Not at all a solution to the issue of downtime and missed -big- matches, specially in day 3. Really feels like a waste! Even if its not fair to compare DreamHack and MLG, the last Dreamhack was a joy for the spectator watching from home!

I'm fine with missing simultanely played games (if i can chose one of 2). Thats not a big issue at all, as long as, especially in the later stages, all important games are actually streamed.
I'm not fine with "forced/unnecessary" downtime. If there are games played, i would like to actually see them...

Paying for MLG from euopre is such a "thing". Normally i have to work at monday and MLG tends to finish at 1-2-3 o'clock in the morning... This weekend i actually would have had time due to monday being a holyday in switzerland, but just didn't care anymore at all...

Btw: Why isn't it fair to compare Dreamhack to MLG?
MLG is just a "Pro"-Event, all it "has to do" is deliver streams and entertain the live crowd.
Dreamhack is the biggest Lan in the World and the progaming is just a small part of the whole thing... Yet they deliver "more"?
