As I said above it did wear off after 10 minutes or so, so maybe it was salvia, but it's pretty damn tough to figure out what it was because I was already on alcohol, caffeine, and weed. It could have been another type of herb too which doesn't have hallucinogenic effects. If the smoke is harsh, it could be salvia, however, Black Santa is probably a very very experienced smoker, so he knows salvia should be smoked with a pipe. Salvia smoked in joints do not give any hallucinogenic effects. It must be chewed or smoked with a pipe. Could be kratom. Kratom looks like hash and gives a weird effect, both calming and stimulating at the same time. Kratom tastes really bad. Damn, I feel like I need to go to Amsterdam to find Black Santa to know what was in that joint. | ||

Mystery joint is indeed intriguing. May have been a combo of things... can't think of what would be so harsh to an experienced smoker but given that effect. | ||

My experience with these 'mystery drugs' is to not dwell on it and be thankful that it didn't go worse. I have a friend who accidently smoked meth when someone passed him a joint at a rave. | ||

While this is indeed possible, I just can't explain it this way because the feeling I got was unlike anything I've ever felt before. And this is coming from a serious ex-pothead. If you don't mind me asking, how much did your hostels in Amsterdam cost? Flights there are cheap, but when I staryed factoring in accomodation and spending money it ended up getting to a point where I felt I was better off travelling further than a few countries along. Also did you have any problem with Hostel curfews? Did you ignore them or find places without them? The one we stayed, st. christophers, was about 30$ a night for Thursday, but went up to 40/45$ a night on Friday/Saturday (6 bed room). But this was one of the nicer hostels, right in the red light district, during peak season. Hit up hostelworld.com and shop around. I'm sure if you're willing to stay just a bit out of the town center, or are willing to sacrifice quality, you could get by on less than I did. As for hostel curfews, and other rules, we generally just ignored them. For example, I snuck a girl into my room in a hostel that didn't allow guests, and came home as the sun was coming up many times. However, there was one hostel in particular that we stayed in frankfurt that had a curfew of 2am. We didn't find out about it until we paid. So make sure you inquire about this before you pay/book the room if you intend to stay out late. For us it didn't matter because we had a flight to catch the next morning at 8am, so the 2am curfew was fine. Could be kratom. Kratom looks like hash and gives a weird effect, both calming and stimulating at the same time. Kratom tastes really bad. And looking at the effects, I definitely had serious dry mouth and nausea, so this is a candidate. Though I might be a little more careful in the future  . In the past I've taken hits off joints at raves and clubs, but was just lucky I suppose. | ||
