The US is experiencing an incredible heatwave right now. At least 100 degrees during the day.
So I'm walking my dog tonight, and she is super excited and happy as usual. A few blocks from my place, she stops to drop off some poo. She emits a few small turds and then a long stringy thing.

No, it was in fact carpet fiber. I knew she had been tearing up her bed a little bit, but until now she hadn't been actually eating it. So she is looking at me like "wtf man, get this shit out of me" and so I put a plastic bag over my hand and try to pull it out. She is clenching her butt and the fibers won't budge.
I cut the strings off and get her back home. She is trying to sit down all the time. I'm fucking frantic, worried that she has some insane carpet fiber forcefield in her colon. I let her sit and try to get the strings out herself, and she pulls more out. I put on a nitrile glove and pull on it again and it comes out. She is overcome with joy and so am I.
Tonight, she's sleeping on a piece of cardboard.

My dog once ate an entire bag of Hershey kisses, wrappers and all. The screams of pain still haunt my dreams....(just like TheBest)

my dog goes absolutely crazy in the heat i have no idea why. she normally sleeps with me every night, but the past few nights have been especially hot, she just runs around all the rooms and randomly sits and is always going up and down the stairs

Disgustinggg.. Glad it turned out okay. =)
You should be extra careful though... A good friend of mine had a 3 month old puppy that just 1 week ago ate something that got lodged in her somewhere and she died before they were able to get surgery done. =(

You should be careful about pulling it out, it may cause damage to the intestines etc. Better to just let it work itself out and keep snipping it. Don't let the dog pull at it either. I'm no vet but I've heard things about cats eating christmas ribbons, which is a bit different but I'd still be careful.

Yeah I was really worried about damaging something. I gave the most gentle tug in the history of pulling things and the second time, when she was at home, it came out with no resistance. I think the first time she was just freaked out and was clenching too hard on it.

my childhood dog was a labrador. there was a lot of houses being built in my neighborhood back then, and on the corner there was a house that just had insulation put in. the dog ate some of it, and hours later kept howling and whimpering.
he pooped a grapefruit sized ball a few days later.

Yes it is gross and all, but you just have to be clinical and calm when these kind of medical situations occur. However, the calm part is very difficult when a loved pet or person is in trouble.

A friend's dog died after eating rubber bands. They got the dog's intestines all tangled and clogged, eventually causing them to pop. Bad way to die.
