One of my favorite games of all time is The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind. I have been playing this game on and off for about 7 years. I remember exactly what happened when i first played this game at my friends house, I remember what I fought, what weapon I used, And where it took place. I even remember the time of day and In game weather conditions.
I have played tons of different characters in this game from warriors to mages to terrain abusing and kiting archers when I was younger.
This game for those of you who do not know has a stat called luck. My next character is going to be a thief/assassin type where every level I will put points into luck. I have always wondered how much luck plays a role in this game.
I will keep track of what happens and periodical post screenshots and write about what happens in this post of how my character and play through are progressing. I plan on doing the Thieves Guild and Morag Tong(assassins guild) missions.
Mainly, I just wanted an excuse to play again while doing something different. For anybody who liked Oblivion I strongly encourage you to play Morrowind, I personally think it is a better game, PM me if you would like my opinion on the matter as I do not wish to make this a Morrowind vs Oblivion post.

This is a cool idea. Morrowind is an amazing game, and while playing it, I too wondered how much luck impacted your character. I look forward to seeing the results.

Its really debatable, and has been discussed to death. Basically oblivion is generic-fantasy-land and morrowind isnt. Also the TES games before oblivion all said Cyrodill was a rainforest, which it wasnt in oblivion. Oblivion's combat system is not really better. It is a dice-roll disguised as a not-diceroll, but morrowind doesnt try to disguise that fact.
Morrowind rewards you for exploring and doing cool things and oblivion does to an extent, but it just is not as rewarding. IMO that is the best part of TES games.
Oblivion is also broken mechanics wise until modded to not be (sorry OP, had to be said and I didn't start it =P).
That said, Morrowind has some really cool mods as well. If anyone played the game without any mods, I strongly recommend heading over to tesnexus, going to the top 100 mods, and getting some of the most awesome ones. I actually have over 2 GB worth of mods for each Bethesda game, they would be unplayable for me if it weren't for them now. They make stuff so much better and more challenging, and the popular ones deliver high quality content.
Basically every time you ask yourself "wouldn't it be cool if the game had _____?", they probably do have it.
Oh man, I probably spent thousands of hours on Morrowind. There are just soo many awesome ideas to be had. My favorite interesting character was the enchanter. You train enchant skill like crazy and fight exclusively with enchanted items. It works better than it seems like it should.
Other fun ones are flying archers (levitate plus archer) and paladins (blade/blunt plus restoration).
Good luck to you in your adventures. From what I understand luck is a factor in essentially everything you do in the game in some complex way. Totally worth trying out.
Will definitely keep an eye on this blog. I've played all the main Elder Scrolls games to death, save TES 1: Arena, and I love them all. I also think Morrowind is the better game of the four. I have gigs of mods for both Morrowind and Oblivion, meticulously organized, and they're never not installed on my hard drive.
Luck characters are interesting, and I think you'll have a good time regardless of how it turns out. Besides, whether you power level or not, it's not hard to have your character become godlike near the end of the game. Even Dagoth Ur could barely touch me, and I certainly didn't have perfect stats.
Skyrim cannot come quickly enough as far as I'm concerned.
I have three characters planned for Skyrim (planned for max difficulty no fast travel):
A Bosmer that uses archery and destruction traps/poison
Samir Duran, a Redguard stealth character, uses dagger and illusion/poison
A Nord death-knight character, dual wields axes and uses conjuration and restoration, smiths/enchants his items
I'll play the Nord first, it will be interesting to play a warrior character on max difficulty, I'll probably use summons to distract enemies so I don't take any hits myself.
i remember being a (somewhat) immortal wood elf with constant effect bound boots, gloves, cuirass, helmet, and war axe with a CE levitation belt, CE restore health and CE restore fatigue. Luck was not needed with 110 axe and 120 strength :D
edit: also, Fargoth. He has a nice +luck amulet, but then again, he's fucking Fargoth t.t
yeah late game characters get pretty insane. Especially with like maxed speed/acrobatics.
I made the title so that people who played Morrowind would instantly know what it was about. And to bring back good memories since everyone loves Morrowind.
I should get my character started tonight if my dvd drives decides to cooperate

dvd drives are for those who didn't get TES3 + expos on steam for about $15 :D
You inspired me to do a thief character, I've only done fighter/mages and hybrids before. I plan on doing all the stuff in the OP plus House Hlaalu.
Also, download Morrowind 2011 (officially removed, unofficially still around) and MGE XE. Dynamic shadows, good textures, and extended view distance put it close to or on par with Oblivion.
My dvd drive appears to have stopped working. So this will have to wait until I get my new computer in the coming weeks. I will look into all the mods mentioned. Thanks a lot for the recommendations!

Morrowind is one of my favorite games ever made, and is imo, a lot better than Oblivion.
Just like you I've spent countless hours on this game and can still remember the first time I played it. I was trying my hardest to get the armor from the Balmora guards because it was so damn cool lol.

But before that I killed a Kwama forager on the bridge over the river near Balmora with the iron sparksword you get on the way from Seyda Neen to Balmora
Dat mudcrab merchant. Dat hidden daedric dai katana in that random cave.
Morrowind was awesome and better than Oblivion, but Oblivion still had some nice parts. The brotherhood assassin quests were really nice, for example the one where you have to kill everyone in a house party without anyone catching you.
