I'm just going out on a limb here and seeing what sort of interest this generates.
I have two houses I need to find renters for in September. Both are fairly large executive homes, somewhere around ~5000sqft. Rather than just renting the places out, I was pondering with the idea of renting one house and transforming it into a starcraft practice house.
If there is enough interest, I can take some pictures and create a video walkthrough of the place.
Heres some details of the place: - 5 Bedroom/4Bathroom - Hot tub - Fully furnished - Shared rent/utility. - located in Barrie, Ontario (about 45minutes from Toronto). - Parking available.
Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread over the next little while and see where it goes. Feel free to contact me via PM and I can pass along other contact information if you had any questions.

Out of curiosity why do you have two houses available to rent out?
I'm not interested (would be a hell of a commute for me XD) but I'm just wondering how big 5000 square feet is. People often tell me how big their living space is in square feet but I have no idea how big 5000 square feet actually is... any idea how I would go about training my mind to understand how big that is? I guess I'll start by asking my parents how many square feet their house is... if they know...

glhf masq. Don't have to be good to participate in a practice house. I believe he's just trying to gather people together with a common interest/set of goals.

Would, but I suck + already got apartment plans.

its sooo far, I'd love it but I don't know how practical it is for the average torontonian

parents moved out of province and im handling the house/rentals now.
Sqft is simple to understand. Just think of a square 12inch by 12inch, that is 1sqft. So a 10 ft x 10ft room is 100sq ft.

Yeah but when you get to large numbers like 4000 or 5000 it becomes hard to visualize how big that really is as a living space. It's not like you live in a 70 x 70 foot room.

haha fair enough. I'll grab some pictures tomorrow.

I would be sooooo interested if I lived in Ontario

Man I would be down to move out there, GTA is my eventual career location goal. However I'm not done school yet in Ottawa. Maybe for next summer? Awesome idea though, and theres definitely a lot of good players in the area.

theres the GO train that goes to Toronto pretty quickly.

barie is a great place to stay in summer, not winter... been there once and nver like the idea of climb uphill in a snowy day :-/...
Also the top 2 places for sc2 house in ontraio should be either Waterloo or Toronto due to the universities students. Most likely Waterloo base on the fact that UofT spread out to 3 cities

5000sq feet is a fairly large house.
The average starter home is about 1500 SQFT ( 2 bed, 2 bath type of thing)
Average condo is about 800-1000 sqft
A reasonably sized house that has a master and 2-3 reasonably sized bedrooms, 2 baths, a large living room and large kitchen and possibly a dining room or den will be about 3000 square feet.
Forgive the writing on it, its all I could find. But its a 5000 sqft show home from a lottery. Masqs home might not be as nice or new, but i would expect a similar size.
edit, added better image, obviously will look different but gives you a nice estimate of size.

dunno if barrie is a great location, and it would be tough to get people to live there full time. I would visit though :D

It really depends how much it would cost on a monthly basis ( which I guess would also depend on how many people are down with the idea), but I would be totally down for that during the summer only, because driving to Barrie on the hwy, in winter, is like driving blindfolded

Ya Barrie sucks but Scarborough isn't a city =p it's part of Toronto. And besides everyone goes to SG or SC anyways =\

For me it depends on rent and such. I don't make much. But if the price is right. I wouldn't be able to go wrong. Though tbh I wouldn't see myself there if the best players in Ontario would be living in the house. of course thats saying if it becomes a practice house. I would not be able to rent the place on my own

There's already a player house in Ontario; it's called University of Waterloo.
