Intro: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=233015

Well this week was just ok. If it were a test I would give myself a C. I started off the week working out a bunch and doing everything great, but as the weekend grew closer I started to slip. Didn't really work out over the weekend, ate a little bit more junk food than I wanted to, and kind of didn't really care for a couple days in there. But in the end it was a decent loss and next week will be better!!!

Mon-Thursday: Went to the gym every day for about 45-60 min and did mostly elliptical stuff. I did some running on the treadmill and upper body workouts too. I played soccer one day for about 2.5 hours and hockey another for about 1.5 hours. So there was plenty of working out in there. I consumed roughly 2000 calories a day. Eating 3 times a day with a snack between lunch and dinner depending on when I worked out.

Fri-Sunday: I ate some junk food. I drank a little pop. But it didn't really make me gain much back because I ate it in decent portions. I want to guess roughly 2500-3000 calories a day.

Starting Weight: 245.5 lbs
Week 1: 241.5 lbs

I would love to fill my blogs with more information so please recommend what you want to see so I can include them as the weeks go on. i.e. What I eat, how I work out, some physical tests to see how i'm improving. I want to make this a bit more interesting!

Nice work man! I recommend getting rid of pop and any other sugary drinks including some juices that claim to be healthy from your diet. I mainly drink water and green tea and you will be surprised how many calories less you consume when you take out those drinks.

hey man, good to see you're sticking to it, at least for week one!

still think you should do pushups/situps, and see how many you can do next week ^_^

As SiDX said, no pop or sugary drinks, period, even juice. Stick to water and water alone. If you're going to go for any type of drink other than water, it should be some type of recovery shake or something after a workout.

And atrocity, one meal is not good! To speed up your metabolism, you have to keep it working throughout the day. Keeping such a low intake level, your body will always be storing some of it for safe keeping once it's used to it.

Good for you man. I've been working at losing weight steadily over the past couple months. Lost 8 kilos so far, and i'm feeling very positive about the next 8 too.

I'm not sure what you're using to track your weight and calories, but this site in particular is helping me immensely. You put in your weight each day, and it tracks a 10 point moving average. Doing out smooths out the daily fluctuations producing a surprisingly linear relationship and also spits out your daily calorie deficit.

Absolutely amazing tool. If your weight is below the green line, you know you're losing weight. If the slope of the green line isn't enough for you, you cut back on your calorie intake a little more. I've had big troubles losing weight in the past, but doing it scientifically like this makes it all seem so easy.

I'd also recommend reading the Hacker's diet. Pretty much outlined what I'd need to do without any of the usual guff about carbs, motivation, exercise etc etc.

Don't do this.

Please, if you are serious about losing weight, do it properly and safely. Check out the TL Fitness thread in the General forum, there is a wealth of good information there.

I completely agree. Only eating a meal a day is really dangerous. It'll leave you constantly hungry, without energy and once you finally start eating properly again even if you haven't done yourself damage, you'll put the weight straight back on. Weight loss is about a sustainable lifestyle change. You want to be eating 3 healthy meals a day, just as you will be after you get to where you want to be.

Best of luck to you man, I'm about the same height and went from 284lb (129kg) to 209lb (95kg), now working to lose the rest.

TL itself has a neat resource, the "Looking good naked" series:

That's a terrible idea.

To me it's the opposite. Especially if you're weight training, what I wholeheartedly recommend.

Why do I even bother trying to lose weight? Even when I try, everyone just criticizes it. At least when I stuff my fat fucking face full I'll be happy, because apparently nothing I do is right. Fucking christ.

There is nothing inherently wrong with eating a single meal a day. It is quite inconvenient though, so in that sense a larger meal frequency is recommended. But if it works for some people... Well, there may be problems with digestation as it's a lot of food to be taken on one sitting.

I would personally recommend people to check out http://www.leangains.com/

I've found it very easy to stick to the plan with it.

Whoa dude, chill out.

Anyone who wants to either lose weight or pack on muscle is doing themselves a disservice if they do it incorrectly! The OP, for example, is eating regular meals (presumably quite healthy, though a detailed description of exactly what he is eating would help), exercises a good amount, and is doing things probably pretty close to what you want to do.

There was a thread in TL General about some guy starving himself on a 1200 calorie per day diet or some shit trying to drop a few more pounds, which is just absolutely insane. Think of overall fitness like you would a single exercise- proper form is what matters, and irregular meal plans, bad dieting, or dangerous regimens (like the one I described above) will in the long run do more harm than good

Anyway, don't want to derail the OP any further, so check out the TL fitness thread for a much more expansive and detailed discussion on health.

Good luck man! don't be discouraged if you sometimes slip from your diet. Just get a grip and start over.
Used to be quite chubby myself. But determination and changing habits will be rewarded.

Take that progress for what it's worth. You went forward, not back. Now make sure you do even better this week. Good luck!

Thanks again for the support! It really helps. I will try to record exactly what I am eating for next week. I'm also going to see how many sit-ups/push-ups I can do at the end of each week. I might also do a 100m and a mile timing to see how I progress in that manner too just so there is more information. Like I said, if you guys want more information I'd be happy to give it!

I also have been reading through the TLHF and it's definitely going to help me improve my strength training (something I don't have an extensive knowledge of)

I have a great feeling about this week!
