I don't live in lund but they have one of the best universities in sweden (was thinking of applying myself) so it's a great overall city for students. Is that why your moving? Would be kinda random otherwise why you would choose Lund  | ||

As long as you have the motivation to pull through you will! From what I've heard the majority of the population in Lund are students, so during breaks the whole city is empty but that's just what I've heard, it might not be true. | ||

Together with uppsala university I believe they are the oldest schools with big heritage aswell, so in that sense it's a very good school with a good reputation. There might private schools and other schools that are better or whatnot but it's definitely a great school. I guess it's hard to get accepted, but it's depending on what program you choose. And i don't know how hard the actual study is, probably not that much harder than any other decent swedish school (also depending on what you study). I think it's a good choice for you to start over. Lots of students moving there that you might get to know. | ||

luckily you're not a muslim, then you'd really get to experience the great scandinavian hospitality. it's certainly going to be much easier for a mexican with good work ethic and reasonable english skills.there are definitely some lund students here, can't really help you beyond that though. but have you looked at what they demand of you? I just normally assume that sweden is pretty similar to norway, and to study in norway, unless you apply from a university abroad, you need to show proof of reasonable proficiency in both norwegian and english. if you come as an exchange student of any kind, then norwegian proficiency is no longer demanded. basically, if you're looking to become a permantent resident, then you must really look into stuff like, recidency permits, work permits, permit to study, get all your papers in order or you might actually be sent out of the country 4 years after you've established yourself. if you're an exchange student then you can largely disregard this stuff, but then you must also go back once you're done with the year or degree or whatnot.. | ||

Only thing im worried about is finding a job! I only speak spanish and english (both pretty good) but no swedish at all.... i could try to learn but right now its 0%. | ||

The university is very large (maybe the largest in Scandinavia, I'm not sure), and it's well respected in many different fields, such as social science, engineering, natural science etc. There are many international students here so I think it'll be easy to meet people even if you don't know Swedish. There are of course courses in Swedish, and I do recommend taking some of them. Accommodation can be difficult to find. Preferably you will live in a student corridor where you easily can get to know people. Also in Lund there are student nations and even though it isn't mandatory any more to belong to a nation I recommend it. They arrange pubs, clubs etc. If you have any specific questions I'll try to answer them | ||

I think it's going to be pretty difficult to find a job, espessially if you don't know swedish or already know people here. Your best bet is to find a job in Malmö or Copenhagen (though I don't really know if you are allowed to work in Denmark without visa or w/e). | ||

Alcohol and Tobacco (edit: and gasoline) are really expensive in Sweden, if you can live whitout those your montly expenses should be alot lower than 700€ per month =) Unless you live really central and rent is a bitch, but just a bit on the outskirts and living costs drop alot also. | ||

If you are not planning on living in expensive student apartments, don't smoke and buy your alcohol either from cheap student bars or Systembolaget rather than clubs you can probably get by on 350-400 euros. It's a lot about rent though, afaik the standard student apartments in Lund are 400-500 euros monthly so if you need to take one of those then expenses skyrocket ~~. Take the time to find a ´real´ apartment in the outskirts of the town and you can probably more than half the rent. edit: Ninjaded by the guy above me ^^ :p | ||

The rent isn't that bad though. I live in a student corridor and I pay ~350€ a month but it is free during june, july and august so really it is only 350*9/12 € . The cheapest way to live though, is to share a big appartment with some other students. | ||
