I have an interesting scenario regarding a party I have coming up this Friday. The theme is Cowboys and Indians. So, one has a choice to dress up as a Cowboy, Indian, neither, or something entirely different. I've made my choice and I'll explain why later. What choice would you make and why?
Poll: What would you dress up as for this party?Cowboy (8) 53% Indian (3) 20% Neither; go as something else entirely. (3) 20% Nothing; go casual. (1) 7% 15 total votes Your vote: What would you dress up as for this party? (Vote): Cowboy (Vote): Indian (Vote): Nothing; go casual. (Vote): Neither; go as something else entirely.
+ Show Spoiler + The cowboy option has some extreme badass potential - if you have the materials for it.
+ Show Spoiler +Sitting Bull was pretty badass.

The cowboy is probably safest. I assume you're going to look good and make the ladies 'interested' , and dressing up as a stereotypical Indian would probably be 1. expensive and obnoxious headress 2. no shirt. A cowbot however is a lot easier to pull off, and you can still be ~sexy~, with a simple plastic gun ("bang bang, babe"), maybe soem boots and a bandana. Cowboy's your choice bro.

Go as an indian outlaw with a feathered dirby or tophat. Can't find any good images to exemplify though. ;<
Or the black-suited undertaker with a leather vest. Always classy.

I'd go casual. And by 'go' I mean stay home and play starcraft.

uhhh,I'd prefer it if you call it Native Americans and not Indians.
Go as Chief Moon Who Walks, all you need is an EG T-Shirt.
If you can actually pull off the Cowboy Clint Eastwood look, then you better be prepared, for the parade of Chicks swarming at you.

indian, women will swarm around you, and be sure to smoke with an peace pipe. must be leaf's

I would go as a referee/umpire! Something both the Cleveland Indians and Dallas Cowboys are controlled by.

I understand the distinction and the mutual insult that both parties must feel, but the term is really old and still in common use. When North Americans refer to Natives we call them Natives, Aboriginals, Native Americans, or Indians interchangeably.
BUT, when talking about Cowboys and Indians, it's always Indians. When I played with my little plastic Wild West men when I was younger, I was not playing Cowboys and Native Americans.

hmmm, when i think about it logicaly i would go as something else. More than likely i would expect most people to go as cowboys as its easily the easyest thing to dress up as. I guess it would depend on how much i wanted to stand out, if you want to blend in go as a cowboy, however makeing a complete idiot of myself is a small price to pay for someone elses enjoyment so i would see my self going as a wagon or a teapee if i could some how make it work. Actruly scratch the wagon idea that would take an age to actruly make heh.

changed my mind, go as a buffalo! nailed it.

I think the politically correct word is "Native" or "Aboriginal" or "First Nations". Indians are from Asia.

Indian cowboy hybrid à la Johnny Depp in Dead Man.
|
Space cowboy á la Spike Spiegel. Then anyone that needs it explained you can not bother talking to :>

Just following up since the party happened on Friday.
The costume: + Show Spoiler +I called my cousins who owned their own riding farm and said that I needed some cowboy stuff. They provided me with boots, a hat, a tie, and a huge belt too. I looked like some kind of oil tycoon - probably because of the tie. All the indian costumes were shit, but most of the cowboy costumes were really well done. There were two joke costumes where one guy dressed up as a Bedouin, which is far from being Indian but is not far from being racist (probably moreso than the misnomer 'indian').
The party: + Show Spoiler +There were about 30 people there in total. Some were from the local university (Brock) while the rest were from our group of friends. The Brock people kept mostly to themselves and weren't that exciting, while the rest of us played beer pong, flip cup, a sick game of Russian Roulette, and hung around. The real unfortunate thing is that there were no girls there worth mentioning at ALL. Even this dirty slut we all know had some guy she was with (the poor bastard). I really need to start talking to girls at bars because meeting them in isolated social situations like this is not going to happen.
Sidenote: + Show Spoiler +My friend's girlfriend brought some girls to the party. They weren't attractive and about 3-4 years younger than us. What was most off-putting about them though is that they were acting all upset whenever we'd address them in any fashion. They were at our party, so how about socializing a little bit? They also got stupid drunk and threw up within about an hour and a half of getting there. Hate people like that.

Oh shit, this all went down near brock? Damn, I live like 10 mins away. I'm too young to drink, but still.
Imo, i woulda gone casual. I don't see the point in dressing up in crazy costumes for a party. I'd rather just be comfortable and enjoy myself.

I'm 99% sure that when the theme is Cowboys and Indians, the men are supposed to be cowboys, girls are indians. Lol

Most of the girls were Indians, but they were chunky Indians. Only the goofball guys were Indians.
