Well i just finished my Sophomore year of College! Exciting. I am a political science major at a college in south United States blala
So Freshman year- First semester was a pledge it sucked and then i got initiated
On to the point of this blog
So this past year i have lived in at my chapters Fraternity House and oh boy what an experience I never knew you could hate something but love something at the same time. I am now moving into a apartment for my junior year but i am thinking i will go back to the Fraternity House for my senior year to get one last hu-ra before college ends :D
I will miss the freshman waking me up in the morning, the destruction in my living room after a party, being on a hallway with 20 of my closest friends, and just being able to walk downstairs and being able to hang out with music/partying with girls/friends etc.
I will not miss however, the music being just downstairs. The drunk people yelling outside my door at 4 A.M . People banging at my door at odd hours trying to get me to hang out. And finally not being able to play SC2 in peace
So yay to having to only share a house with 1 person instead of 30 :D

I have to say i disagree, i like having a disorganised partying life, screw sc and being alone, get wild.

Im just telling u what i would do, i study in immunology in university, it's a hard as hell program and most people in there are antisocial person who have a stick up their ass. Im telling u in your position i would continue doing the internship and if it doesn`t hamper ur life stay at the dorm, u only live your college years one time there is no coming back.
Good luck in your studies

Not entirely true, that's what graduate school is for
But I have friends who lived in frats and said the same thing. It was fun, but they look forward to being able to sleep if they want to, rather than having a guaranteed disruption downstairs every Friday night. Then again, we're runners so most meets on Saturday require 7:00am wakeups. You could always see the bleary eyed greek members in the morning :D Tired, but almost certainly happy!

I hope to join a frat. Hopefully the initiation stuff isn't too bad..

lol. Hope you're just trying to be cool and don't actually think your 20 frat bros are your 'closest' friends. Then again, it may just be perspective on how we measure distance.

Damn, all these blogs about college, they made me believe that the college in USA is exactly like they portray it in the movies. I thought it was all over exaggeration.

I thought it was all over exaggeration. some of it is. the thing about movies is that they don't show you the LONG periods in between of class, work and study. there are movie moments but its nothing like the movies

What is their that you think is exagerating? College for most people well at least a lot of the people i know is all about partying, drinking, girls etc. It can be that for you if thats what you make it. If you join a fraternity its so easy just to make that your life you have mixers with sororities twice a week and band parties on the weekends. However, if you do chose that lifestyle all the time! your grades will suffer; comes down to self-control for sure

"trying to be cool"? what if he spends time with them and does all sorts of crazy things with them, still wrong if they're his closest friends?
no!
take your negative attitudes somewhere else horse! you will never become king that way

Awesome its a great decision! In the South, however, saying the word "frat" is generally looked down upon by fraternity members as its generally a term used by "non-Greeks". I know that sounds stupid, but i hear people get made fun of all them time who say i'm heading to the "frat" house. I prefer mansion! Pledging is not awful its all mental games its intended to break you down to make you lean on your pledge brothers/ get yal closer its over sooner than you think
To the "them not being your closets friends" thing.
Really? I spend every single weekend going fishing/(Nashville)/bars/l/cruises/camping with these guys i'm not really close with the seniors in my fraternity but the Juniors i'm really close with about 5 of them and many of my best friends are in my pledge class. I'm not sure what you hear or think about fraternity but we are friends lol. I still have my friends from high school, but we go to different colleges and i have new group that i live/party/study with etc.
Edit: Thats like me saying that just because you spend every day with your neighbor and yall did all kinds of fun stuff everyday during high school "you must think your cool" and think that he's actually your friend

It's always "fraternity", never "frat".
"Frat" can be used as a verb, but never as a noun!! :D
