But yeah I was watching a bit of it, I agree that the Archbishop who read the vows has an absolutely amazing voice, very bold.

It's beautiful indeed! Kate's dress is perfect and she has such poise and elegance that I'm sure she'll do well in her role as future queen. I really love the trees in the cathedral. A nice touch instead of the usual flower arrangements.

Not because it would make any difference if you took away all the privileges and the money of the royal families (in Europe at least): but it feels just like a celebration of a thousand year old system of repression. I'm not even a monarchist, but I enjoy the show. Don't have to be a Jaedong fan to appreciate and be spell-bound by his games. Nowadays the monarchy has no real power and acts as a positive attractor for the Britain, bringing in revenue from tourism both to themselves and the general economy that far outweighs what allowances the British government gives them.

It's the symbol of wealth put up infront of the people - as in medieval times to show the might of the nation. I know that my perspective is illogical - or maybe too logical to be valid in a world that isn't at all logical, but this kind of spectacel makes me feel dirty. It has been like that as long as I can remember, I remember almost crying when my mother wanted to watch the swedish royal family when I was a kid. But as I said, this is more of a feeling than an argument really, so I can understand people who are watching I guess.
