I am thinking of getting an iPad... however i'm still not sure whether you can watch games easily on it, which would be a major plus for me. I tried searching long and hard but couldn't find any info

Q1) Can you watch NASL or IGN using the ipad?

Q2) Is it possible to install flash on your ipad, I've read about a "skyfire" app which allows you to watch flash videos, anyone know if this works for NASL or IGN?

Q3) Does the Justin tv app for ipad let you watch vods?

Q4) Can you watch Day9 on ipad?

I know that other tablet pc's using android 2.2 or later can use flash, and by extension watch streams.

iPad works with YouTube. If it's on YouTube, you can watch it, if it's not... It's kind of a crap shoot. Quicktime works for playing anything that is an mp4, but lots of normal video hosting sites don't. Thankfully everything important is on YouTube, including your BW future with Nevake.

With Samsung`s Galaxy Tab you have flash, therefore I believe you should be able to watch livestreams with no problem.

Its a tad smaller than iPad, I think its screen is 7 inchs and it runs on Android 2.2

Justin TV has an iPhone app that let's you view streams. While it will work on the iPad it isn't optimized ... yet. It's also possible to download the Day[9] daily from iTunes (free podcast) and watch them offline at your convenience

Skyfire for the iPhone/iPod/iPad is the best browser to use to watch streams.
The JTV app forces you to watch in a really bad resolution that looks crappy.
Skyfire loads the same stream and looks 100% clearer and runs smooth.

I recommend Skyfire for an iPad!

Skyfire will load any kind of video file:

JTV lets you watch live but the resolution is poor, like less than 360p. Theres no adds with the app, instead whenever a commercial is thrown, the stream freezes and you need to reboot the app, which will throw a popup add that is easily closed. Ustream is chancey -- some shows you can watch live, others you cannot. I've had no problem watching TSL and weapon of choice on ustream, but other SC2 players streams did not work. However most people are moving to JTV anyway. You can watch vods from blip just fine, although its sometimes difficult to navigate their mobile site. Theres a special day9 app that makes it easy to watch dailys on the ipad, but the best way to watch them is to download them from the itunes store podcast section. (they are free of course)

Youtube videos default to high resolution, about 1080p. The videos are super high quality, its actually better than watching on a monitor because you can hold it closer to your face. However the youtube app is annoying because there's no way to lower resolution if your wifi is choppy -- you need to go into the safari browser and use the mobile youtube website instead. The SC2casts app is just an aggregator of youtube videos, I only purchased the app for iphone so I don't know if they made improvements for ipad. Its super nice for all those youtube casters who split up their casts into multiple parts, however for youtube partners like day9 psy husky hd teamliquidnet etc, you're better off using youtube's subscription service.

There are apps that let you view flash on the ipad, however those apps are very slow and are not free. Personally I used iSwifter to watch MLG dallas (although perhaps I should say, to not watch MLG =P). It was like $10 I think. Its horrible for browsing but if you really need to view a flash video it works. Both ign and nasl use JTV which is free so you're good there. However you'll be unable to watch NASL vods, IGN vods are added to youtube which is nice. TSL uses a ustream version that is compatible with safari. IEM uses ownd.tv, they use flash and don't have an app so you'll be unable to watch that unless you buy a flash app.

I'll definitly check out the skyfire app, I haven't heard of it.

If you have problems with your ipad's wifi being slow, it may sound stupid, but try turning up the brightness and toggle autobrightness off. The ipad's wifi strength fluctuates depending upon power consumption.

Get a BlackBerry Playbook. Better Flash support than the Motorola Xoom. I was also able to stream Idra's channel from team liquid while I was playing with it. Dont have the money for it right now, but for streaming sc2 I would recommend the Playbook.

I watch and do almost all starcraft related things from my ipad(including this post)

iSwifter is an app i use that lets you view justin tv AND GSL and it has worked wonderfully for me so i use it and its great. Think it costs like 4$
Edit: On iswifter i was watching dreamhack vods, so with iswifter, yes you can watch vods.

Otherwise, ipad safari is great for teamliquid browsing and i prefer going to youtube.com and finding videos over using the youtube app, specifically because you can change the quality.

getting a playbook for graduation hopeing that it can watch streaming and hopeing that I can get the signal too. fuck yeah it will be amazing if I can watch NASL on that.
