I just received a notification from a mailing list that an academic conference is to be held in which the subject is game AI applied to broodwar!

Is anyone going to go for it? I really wish I had the time for this; if you get a submission accepted it's likely that the conference will offer scholarships for students attending and you'll end up getting a cheap trip to korea on top of competing.

Oh my god, I can't believe the words "crush your enemies" are being applied in a formal letter sent by an university committee.

wasn't there someone posting in the blog section 1-2 weeks ago about an AI he made asking for help on improving his micro, or was that in the strategy forums? I think he posted on the strategy forums but got moved or something. He didn't mention the AI in the OP though, just asked for microing tips

Not sure if he wasn't doing an SC2 AI anymore though? I don't know for sure anymore but I think it was BW. I think his AI even was kinda good but i can't really judge that. I also can't remember the guys name but maybe he'll see this / already knows about it.

Anyways if someone from round here (teamliquid that is) can win this, it would definately be awesome!

This actually sounds similar (but cooler) than what we have a group doing here at UofM. The competition itself sounds similar (make a BW AI module using BWAPI), but I think the one we do is one where you just submit your code online and they let you know the results later. Its the AIIDE competition that the mention briefly.

If this one actually sends you to the conference, that would be awesome.
