I first started playing starcraft2 when my friends bought me it as an early birthday present back in september. I was a lowly bronze protoss who didn't use hotkeys or anything. Click click click. Embarassing. A few hundred games later, i've switched to zerg and my apm has since skyrocketed.
From my personal experience and contrary to popular belief, i actually improved my apm through spamming. Sure, at first, it really was just rapidly double-tapping my overlord and hatchery hotkeys at the beginning of the game. But now i play at a consistent 220 real-time apm, and i think its a relatively efficient 220, or so i believe. The apm i used to spam converted over to cycling between my hatcheries and my army. 445566. (I hotkey like DRG, hatcheries individually by base from 4 onwards.)
Right now, i play in platinum league. I realize my macro is shit. For some reason, its not my injections that are the problem. I do these relatively well as i cycle through my hatches. It's actually my supply blocking myself. Thankfully, overlords are probably the easier of the two to fix.
With regards to ladder, i'm pretty confident in zvp and zvt. For a while, i used to be too scared to hatch first because of cannons, but i've become more sure of my drone micro. This also applies somewhat to bunker rushes, but to a lesser extent, although the ones im facing are completely inefficient compared to the ones masters or even diamond league tl-ers face everyday.
I am horrible at zvz. I just am. I watch streams so often that I metagame myself and remove the possibility of my opponents going mutalisks from my mind. And i lose. That's another thing to fix.
There are some things in starcraft2 i look forward to doing every ladder session. The first is a 300 supply push. The swarm is just too epic. The second is a multi-pronged attack. It's pretty cool to be able to be in too many places at once for your opponent to handle. The third is roach-corruptor compositions. It's so fun to spam corruption after all the colossi are dead. I also love busting 3gate expands zvp with ling bling.
Anyways, here are my hopes for the future. I have school to worry about, but i hope to make diamond by summer. If i can pull that off, i'll see where it goes from there. If you've gotten this far, thanks for reading!
