So I made these for Kiante back when afreeca didn't hate him. I've decided to make them available to anyone who wants to use em. The dream is that some pro gosu out there can work these into an overlay program where everything is fully customizable (i.e. interchangeable/customizable graphics).

That'd be pretty sweet.

But for us normal folk, the chobos...

If you're using X-Split and streaming brood war, these will help make your overlays less conspicuous and more freakin' cool.

i actually really dislike when people use these things - the korean ones tell me all i need to know and all the overlays do is look ugly and make me have to look up their korean names if i want to know them

edit: although those look less ugly than the ones that get used most of the time

Not bad. If they fit on screen well and don't take up too much space I'm all for them.

Unlike the poster above I can't read Korean so I don't really care for their Korean names.

As a streamed i put them directly on top of where the korean ones go. Sure maybe 5% of the people watching the stream can read the korean but most people cant. This services that need without looking out of place like the sc2 overlays do. They're a pain to use because you need to put all the text on manually, but they really help the users. And because they literally look exactly the same as the korean overlays, you cant use the "but they look ugly" excuse.

Hangul is probably the easiest language to read in the history of mankind. Even if you don't know a single word of Korean I can guarantee you that if you actually try to learn how to pronounce each symbol you'll learn it very quickly, which will tell you the names of the players and teams.

I'm not sure if it was my fault that the thread is progressing down the path it is, but I was just saying that the majority of viewers don't know, and probably don't care about learning Hangul (I know it, if it matters) so they know names of players and teams. The things are low-key enough that they don't get in the way of anything important - the game.

He's not saying people must use these to appease the masses, nor is he trying to push them on anyone, he's just making them available for anyone who wants to use them.

Streamers who use notepad at the top of the screen to label players and stuff - they would benefit from these, and viewers would benefit from not having a notepad banner.

i agree with what torrenhire is saying. I used them and got lots of positive feedback about them (except when i forgot to update the names LOL). Theres heaps of easy things in this world not everyone knows. I'd say 95% of the audience doesn't know how to read player names (me included) and these make the "who's playing" comments in chat dry up and almost dissapear(theres always one or 2 tho lol)

As a translator who used to translate a lot in the livestream days...

This is really helpful. You see people walk in and yell out 'WHO'S PLAYING' every second. Even if we change the topic, people will scream out because they are too lazy to look at the chat topic.

I remember the 'pro' notepad days. I really wanted one of these to exist. And now we do.
