Hey TL, I recently found out about a band called "This Will Destroy You". They are an instrumental group with a very relaxing sound that are from Texas. Anyways, I really liked them and thought that some of you guys might like them too. They currently have 3 EP's out named Young Mountain, This Will Destroy You and Field Studies.

Happy listening

Holy crap yes; been listening for a year or so and still get shivers hearing songs that are very familiar by now. There's another short album called "Moving On The Edges Of Things" as well.

According to iTunes, I currently have 1,865 plays for the song "This World is Our ____", definitely my favorite song by them. Apparently my favorite of all time as well; tad excessive.
Im pretty good at whistling with my hands, especially when Im holding a whistle.

Aw it has been long since I last listened to them. Post Rock is so different from Melodeath which I listen to most of the time . If you like them you should also check out Long Distance Calling imho. Harsher sound, but very enjoyable. They are very good and not very well known to most people:

Post-rock is a great genre when done right. The big issue is that there isn't much variety in it. Most of the bands sound the same except for the handful of elites at the top.

This Will Destroy You is definitely good. I'd also recommend checking out Sigur Ros, God is an Astronaut, and Russian Circles. Those are my top three picks.

They're really awesome live. Much more distortion, noisy sounds than on their records, yet still killing you. I really like them, got all their albums back home.

Kindof reminds me of the band God Speed You Black Emperor.

Music starts at 1:30 for this one (intro is kindof cool though):

one of my favourite postrock bands, they make great music; been listening to them for a while, having picked them up along a few other newer bands i hadn't heard of prior to that moment (i scour for new postrock about twice a year). they definitely impressed

glad to see so many tl'ers are into this music, this is the second or third post-rock related thread i've seen recently. cheers

MONO is the only Post Rock band you need. They have everything... I saw them live once, and at times it felt like I was observing someone getting stabbed in the heart. The main guitarist puts so much feeling and emotion into his play.

can approve of the long distance calling recommendation. excellent band, saw them as support for opeth and katatonia and they even outclassed the latter at that gig imo. although i love katatonia of course, but LDC have so much energy and joy while playing, it brought tears to my eyes. buy the album!!

Texas has produced such awesome post-rock. Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You in particular, have made my life awesome.

Chilling performance.

<3 post-rock and anything close to it.

Sigur Ros, Explosions in the sky, This will destroy you, Mono, Hammock. All so good. Also check out a guy named Ludovico Enaudi. Does a lot of simplistic classic type stuff that is really chill to listen to.
