Hey, it goes both ways. If girls expect guys to all act like whatever perfect male protagonist they see in their dramas and be tall and rich and handsome, then I can expect all girls to be as pretty as Yoona.

The rest of society already sets up those expectations.

Even the housewives in cleaning product commercials are pretty, well kept, makeup, etc.

If you cut out all the boring parts of any persons life you could probably fill 15 minutes a week of action packed stuff that happened (That is what I would guess the average screen time in a 23 minute episode of a main character). I mean it's like they think these characters doesn't do all the boring stuff everyone does. Or should TV just start showing them work a day job (like alot of them do) for 8 hours being bored to death before anything exciting happens just to make these people understand.

I also love the fact that they get attached to characters with as much personality as cardboard.

MOST women have little to no idea what they really want cause most of the time its not what they need. Remember man its the girl not you the problem, there are many dumb chicks that shouldn't get even half of the attention they get. So don't worry about shit like that. There are much more interesting/easy chicks out there.

Imo its pretty easy to tell if a korean girl is as affected by kdramas as you say.

At that point its also easy to just avoid them.

It seems that Korean Dramas and girls are analogous to Korean Starcraft and guys. I guess neither may understand the other's passions...

Heck, Korea has it all, man. Kpop. Starcraft/e-sports. Kdramas. FUCKING KOREAN BBQ. It seems that everything that comes from that country ends up being popular and generally high quality (though Kpop and Kdramas are debatable).

In some alternate Female dominated TeamLiquid.net alternate universe, a similar blogged was published excet "Kdrama" is replaced with "starcraft" and "love" is replaced with "skill".

I can't stand Kdramas either but for some reason I don't mind some Japanese drama anime. Just feels weird when real people are acting so extremely fictional and are expected to be taken seriously.

So you're saying that you've never had one of those (regular, run of the mill) I-just-defeated-my-main-rival-in-love-and-now-I'm-kissing-the-girl-in-the-rain-to-an-overly-sappy-and-overused-OST moments before?

Why I never...

Hallyu wave is swarming the planet right now. A couple of years back, everyone wanted to eat sushi, watch anime and visit Japan. Now everyone wants to listen to Kpop watch Kdramas, eat korean food and wear hanboks. Maybe in 10 years everybody will be obsessed with another country.

But seriously though, I don't see any problem to that. I can't enter a relationship if it doesn't involve a multi race war, my love dying and reborn as queen of savage blood hungry beasts and me having sex in a ridiculously large space marine suit.

I don't see how this is much different from the American Soap Opera, which I avoid like the plauge.

Probably because its an generational thing, with teenagers watching an obsessing over things.

Not that it is a bad thing. We all do obssess over starcraft

I don't think there's a problem here. I have many friends similar to yours and while I agree it's really annoying you have to remember that it's just a fantasy. We all indulge in guilty pleasures and imagine alternate realities where everything happens the way we want them to right? I've discussed this topic with people before, and I'm actually a bit uncomfortable with the idea that watching Korean dramas somehow influences women to the point where they have unrealistic expectations for relationships. The implication of such logic is not all that different from the nutcases who think playing violent video games causes young men to become violent themselves. The key is to be able to separate reality from fantasy, something 99% of people are capable of.

Am I the only guy who thinks it's kinda cute? I mean, she gets excited about something she loves.
Sure - if she is like that for every episode - woah! - but once for the final ones I can understand. I mean - I get hyped up about SC2, Sci-fi & fantasy series/movies.

As someone already mentioned - we guys have our "fantasy worlds" too Though most of them are more unrealistic than a kdrama.
I dont know any female that watches kdrama, but some who watched the normal daily soaps on german television. Sure they talked about it (a lot) but were still "normal". In the end they got older and just stopped watching.

Hm, i'm not sure if this is with just Korean Dramas..
I mean, I read romance novels that are either fantastic or kinda like "lolcheeseyyylol" right? Or, just any books in general. They can have an impact on the way you look out onto life, love, experiences~

There are books where the characters have such a love, that you wish you could have that in your life too. It's almost painful because it seems so unrealistic, yet so beautiful. You wish you could experience their heartache and their tragedies, and know that feeling of being loved forever. You wish someone would save you from the horrors of real life and place you in that forever-in-love state.

I can't say I can relate to the girls who watch those korean dramas because I have never watched them before, but there are PLENTY of other books and movies that girls want to relate to in the same way.

Like I said, from a girl who feels everything and overthinks everything, I can see where your friends are coming from. xD
I mean, I could very easily cry myself to sleep if I wanted because I didn't have the kind of love that the characters in books I read do. Or I could be happy because I have fantastic friends, a wonderful boyfriend, and a life that isn't full of tragedy and heartache. =P

I will admit though, I would love to have more adventure and travel in my life. But dealing with all the heartache and tragedy that some characters in books or movies experience.. @_@;;!!
you are perfect porcelain.
