I proceed to launch several attacks, all of which are demolished with hardly an effort. What went wrong? My attack coordination. Nearly every time I launch an assault, my units are so poorly organized that it’s a wonder they did any damage at all. The first time, I have about eight speedlings rush in ahead of the roaches. They obviously are slaughtered, and the roaches are left to do some trivial damage before they die, too. When I move out with my first roach/hydra army, the roaches are not in front of the hydras, so the latter get taken out pretty much before they can do anything.
By that point, my opponent has still been building his army, losing very few units in the process. I, on the other hand, have lost two full armies. So, even though my final attack is fairly well organized, his massive army demolishes me.

Lessons learned:
1. Don’t attack-move directly to a place where there might be an army waiting, especially if you have speedlings, which are likely to race ahead of everything else.
2. Pay attention to unit formation. My earlier attacks would have been so much more effective if the roaches had actually had the opportunity to tank for the hydras.
3. If you’re caught behind, try to harass or do something in the meantime (besides attacking head-on with comparably small armies, of course) so your opponent can’t just happily build a massive army.
