However, the halftime show was actually pretty good because they put on a pretty crazy show. They introduced the guests in a pretty exciting manner, and their weird dancer army was mildly amusing. The lights were pretty cool too. So, basically, they put on a good show, but the music was just meh. Which is to be expected, because amplifying the music to fill a stadium well is basically impossible.

I agree with the above post: fergie was the only person who actually sung, the other guys just fucking talked instead of rapping like they were supposed to. The dudes on the bottom were cool, but I couldn't figure out wtf BEP members were wearing, futuristic armour? drunk as hell

I can not believe you said the BEP are an improvement on one of the best rock bands in history...... on their worst day The Who are better than any contempory act... atleast they have soul and talent, even if you dont like their music

It has nothing to do with how good Tommy or Quadrophenia were, in 2010 they suck. BEP is at least sort of exciting even if they can't sing live.

why would you have a (live) halftime show be done by a band who is only good in studio i liked their clothing though edit: it would have been a lot more tolerable if they hadn't murdered sweet child o' mine

Not that great, but if they could have timed the music correctly, then the show would have been much better. It was an improvement from last year's show, which I actually stopped watching 2 minutes in to go play a Halo 3 match. I've got to say that Fergie was the worst of them all. Whenever she started singing, I wanted to mute my TV. She was just lucky that my remote was too far away for me to reach. I was in super lazy mode and was not going to get up from my comfortable position I was laying down in.

I'm not sure if it was any better... maybe the audio but the actual singing... it sounded bad on tv I'm sure it sounded bad there too. I've never seen them perform live before but if that is their norm performing live... ouch.

Anyone who says any of these people have "no talent" are completely wrong. Regardless of your personal feelings about a persons music there are a lot of things that these people do that get them where they are.. If it's songwriting, performing, singing or producing, these people possess talent regardless of whether or not a certain performance goes well... And that goes for ALL genres of music. Most acts in any genre now are paid for the digital sound of their music not for a stage show which is why many of the Halftime shows aren't any good.. The Who would have been great to see... 30 years ago.. Last year I thought one of them fell asleep. He apparently was thinking what I was.. Now to my thoughts on the actual show.. I was disappointed. This is a group that is known for high energy songs and they started the first 5 minutes looking like they were zombies... The microphones didn't seem to be working in the beginning and things were just very dull.. As things progressed it got a bit better because the surrounding atmosphere was really thought out and well planned.. But the effects and stage crew along with the audio people seemed to drop the ball tremendously. Usher was more entertaining on stage but it was again lessened by the technical issues. All in all it looked as if they didn't put enough work and rehearsal into the actual show and the result is what was seen... Mediocre at best.. But yet better than last year.

I'm sure they are more capable of having a fantastic live performance, but tonight just wasn't their night considering the technical shenanigans happening all over the place.

Even those in the room who were fans of Black Eyed Peas were cringing (although one was blaming it on the microphones, lol)

Since when has any mainstream pop music group put on a decent performance in a major event like that? These guys are all clowns who might've had talent at one point, but certainly don't now. Also, it's very possible to amplify to fill a stadium without a problem. However, it's very hard to avoid making a horrible din in an arena not designed for sound. Pretty much anything with multiple layers will sound like shit, but if it's shit to begin with... well you can't really blame the setting. I just want to see some American metal playing the superbowl. Get Kamelot in there and you'll have an unbelievable show. Too bad people don't appreciate real music =/

It was good visual, but the audio was shit... although that's kind of expected now that pop and rap is so heavily dependent on computers to tweak voices. I don't know, I never particularly care for the halftime show since it's almost always some shitty, overhyped pop group, or a way past its prime rock act.
