As an avid watcher of the Brood War scene in Korea, we all know the power of an energy drink, Pocari Sweat.
![[image loading]](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Fk-fDl8nQmI/SnVjlPFsiLI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/Idvcure_w4s/s400/Pocari+Sweat.jpg) Yeah,its something like that.
I never thought I'd see Pocari Sweat in the states, like the Golden Fleece it was far, far away.
But apparently at our Asian Food market, one day they started offering it.
And I have tasted the nectar of the gods!
Seriously though, the drink is pretty decent. The price is a little much, but for an import from Japan and a relic of our community, I'm glad to have it.
Cheers everyone!

I don't think that I could ever drink something that has "sweat" in its name, haha.
|
I saw a crushed up can of the stuff on the bus once, best day of my life. 5/5 for reminding me of that day
|
I really don't like it, you can get it here in Canada at the Chinese TNT supermarket, but it's honestly not that good.
|
From what I heard, it tastes like a watered down yellow gatorade..which must not be too good .
|
The stuff is just brilliant. The drink itself, mef, but the idea.... (I'm born/lived in Japan, I'd know okaie guise)
the water is just about free 2 cents, if not less, for the powders they mix with the water 10 cents for a plastic bottle (you see no cans? they cost too much)
--> Sell at 145 Yen
See how much profit that makes?
|
I don't see how much profit that makes because I don't know how to convert cents to yen.
|
SO GOOD. It tastes amazing. Of course, only tried it in Hong Kong. Canadian prices are hilarious.
|
They sell cases of Bacchus and Pocari here at the market, nothing really special except for the price tag D:
|
I bought a six pack once. The first one was weird, but by the time I drank the 6th one, I really liked the stuff.
water flavored gatoraid is a fair description as someone on TL put it. I thought of it as like water you get at a restaurant that comes with a lemon in it, and then dump in a couple packs of sugar. water+sugar+lemon sounds like lemonaid, but its not the same. It would be like lemonaid, if lemonaid had less lemon in it.
That doesn't sound very good, but it is.

I personally hate it. It tastes like every other isotonic sports drink, but the one thing, that makes it bad is, that it has no gas in it. Seriously, why?
|
i tried looking for it while it was in china this past summer, but i never found it ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif)

It's cheaper if it has none...
Nah, the real reason is that gas would be a nuisance and contravene it's main purpose. This is what Pocari Sweat is for:
You're in Tokyo, in the summer. Right there that's 34-36-38 degrees (Centigrade mind you), add on top of that near 90-100% humidity (especially during typhoon season). You've just gotten off a jam-packed commuter sub-way train. Your personal fan is broken, your handkerchief is soaked through (as are your shirt and underwear) and you're dehydrated like hell.
Now what are you going to want to buy from the drink-dispensers found every 1/10m^2 in Japan? Buy a sweet, cool, refreshing drink to try and restore your ~electrolytes~.
... no gas, plox.

Where do they sell carbonated gatorade?
|
What does gas mean in this context?
edit: oooh, carbonation. Gotcha.

Coke/Pepsi products 2 cents, if not less, for the suger and CO2 they mix with the water 10 cents for the plastic bottle
--> Sell at $1.49 - $2.00
Even better, Kombucha 2 cents, if not less, for the tea 20 cents for the glass bottle
--> Sell at $3.50 - $4.50

pocari sweat is just gatorade/powerade with less sweetness
|
I can imagine your phone call a few days later
"Hi, is this the pocari sweat company?" "yes" "I drank your product but my APM still isn't anywhere near 400, am I using it wrong?" "..."
|
I like pocari sweat a lot and really don't like gatorade's taste lol. Plues they are cheaper than gatorade, like $1 for 2 cans in here.
|
Pocari Sweat is yummy, but I dare say Aquarius is better!
