It's a play on the phrase "to put the cart before the horse," or to do things out of order. Rene Descartes is a prominent rationalist philosopher. He said "cogito ergo sum" ("I think therefore I am"), which is rational philosophy's "Love Me Do." The topic is about a guy who thinks that prominent pornstar Lexi Belle is in his class. He wants to know what he should do. Someone says that he should ask Lexi Belle, on the Internet, if she likes philosophy and if so which philosophers. Then he should go up to this girl in his class and namedrop those philosophers, whereby he'll better facilitate the achievement of orgasms with this attractive pornstar's doppelganger (if not the pornstar herself, as this plan's success hinges on the lemma that this girl and Lexi Belle both like the same philosophers and are as open-uhmminded sexually). Someone else responds to this idea that this is "putting Descartes before the whores."

I loved the deadpan style... by the way, lately I've been watching this. it's pretty decent if you are a serious Star Wars enthusiast. The beat seems to announce a splendourous, nostalgic puppy love from the first snare, if that makes sense. "Shine Like a New Pin" by Camera Obscura is also a total homage to "Take the Skinheads Bowling" by Camper Van Beethoven, but considering the pun that's probably intentional. Oh yeah, there's also "Canon in D" by Pachelbel. That's one one-hit-wonder that arguably never left us. "Just like Candy" = "Just like Honey." "Cut Dead" and "Sowing Seeds" are the other tracks on the album. I came up with pretty much the same list except I haven't heard of Gosh and I don't hear it in "Strings". "Eighties Fan" is the first song I heard this beat in and for a long time I thought Bat for Lashes had ripped them off. What's your opinion on Deerhunter? I liked Cryptograms but hated Microcastle and everything after. They're actually a pretty terrible band I realized.
