Little song i recorded for my gf

killanator United States549 Posts January 23 2011 22:16 GMT #1 Today is our 9 month anniversary, and a few days ago I was messing around on my keyboard and started playing and harmonizing(in my own way) this little song by HeyHiHello! called dont quit not quite. Its kind of "our song" so i fiured id record it and upload it to the interwebs and show her tonight when i see her. xLethargicax United States469 Posts January 23 2011 23:21 GMT #2 production sounds nice, vocals a little less. Edit - Your voice sounds more nasally than what it probably is. Where do you place the mic when you record? A mic should always be a little below your mouth to catch a full chest sound and if it is slightly above your mouth, it will diminish your tone into a nasally sound. ;B Good work though!

killanator United States549 Posts January 24 2011 01:59 GMT #3 Well I had it a bit above my mouth so that would explain it. I never sing anyways so its not to big of a deal. And my voice is a tad nasally because i am a nerd.

But EQ that piano down abit between 3khz and 5khz so the vocals dont get drowned like they are atm. edit: a slight touch of autotuning will make it sound really good. Not autotuning kanye-style, but the way the plug is "supposed" to be used.

PetitCrabe Canada410 Posts January 24 2011 21:32 GMT #9 I really like it!! I am by no mean a music expert, but I find the piano distracting from your voice. I think somebody said to lower the frequency or whatever, I honestly don't know if it's going to solve the problem, but yeah do that.

killanator United States549 Posts January 25 2011 00:12 GMT #11 Ya, i thought about autotuning, i usually do some autotuning if i sing because i suck but i figured that i would keep them mostly natural(except for the other effects) for this purpose. Ya, in the monitors i mixed on the voice was pretty audible but i can see how equing the piano a bit would make it better on other systems. I wasnt able to see her yesterday =( so i posted it on her wall, idk if shes even seen it yet
