Hey guys. I just wanted to talk about all those games we play on ladder, all those games you find by just clicking that single button, and all that people.
Its been since August. Im not a great player, and I dont really play that much. But its been like 5-6 months with this game, and I think my mental strengh isnt the good one for this game.
Since I bought this (forgive me) goddamn game, ive meen BM everyday, every single day. I win a game? Then the chat window pops up and the guy says "Your fucking horrible, suck my dick".
Now, this may be fun sometimes, but not always. Im just fucked up. I lost to a guy like an hour ago, just a normal play. What does he say when I leave the game? "LMAO i miss playing against platinum players, so easy!! YOU SUCK"
...Its fine, dude, dont worry, just calms down and go to another game
Short distances, rushes. Gets to your natural. "LMAO your terrible, GG GET OUT"
...just dont worry calms down and find another game.
30 minute game. You win. the fucking chat window pops up. "You know why you won? because your a fucking awful cheap whore, you son of bitch".
I know its just a game. I know I shouldnt be pissed by these things. But I think its just too much, I dont feel like nothing happened when i get some of these craps in my face. Boiling rage grows up inside of you and you cant do NOTHING. I dont know what do think, but for sure i wont be playing during some time. Cheers guys.

I know what you mean, In the higher leagues you get this less and less often in my experience but I can only imagine what it's like at the lower leagues ( don't know what league your in, I'm just saying). If a person says anything at all to me in game i usually block communication with them right when the game is over. I definitely don't blame you for wanting to take a break though.

Im in platinum, around 110 games played, im 4th in my division, dont know too much about that kind of things tho

I was practicing with my 2v2 partner for a CSL match one day, and in probably...6/8 games, we got offensive GG'd. They make me so angry inside ;_; it almost makes me want to offensive GG people back, but I know better than to pass on that angry cycle.

It indeed is better at higher leagues. At least I dont get flamed very much, I suppose moderately average skill at starcraft takes a reasonably high mental maturity

I think the worst period is Platinum to Diamond. Less then platinum and people don't care as much, platinum and above people care for ever single game and thus are more likely to BM. Hear masters league is quite friendly though.
I'm in Silver league btw, havn't been BM'ed in the last ~30 games I've played (some leaving without GG but that's not too bad ).

Don't take it personally Red. None of these people are attacking you as an individual, just the person they believe you are in the game.
The anonymity of the internet has been talked about before on this issue, and you have to take something away knowing that none of these people would do this outside of the online environment. I'm not angry and people who rage like this, I pity them.

I am diamond, I say gg before enemy does incase I see I 100% won, also I flame primarly Protoss for playing an imba race while I never say gg in case I leave. Also when I play teammatches and my teamamtes annoyes me I will often tell him to leave so I might win this game solo.
Usually I will also close Sc2 once I lost a match (which is why I have only around 70 1vs1 played and around 60 2vs2, didn't tried the rest yet... don't want to have more teammates to fail my win<

Play a ton of console FPS games, and then you'll be immune to the BM.

Really? I laugh my ass off when people bm me lol.
I'm not sure if you play on NA or EU, but I have never had a problem with bm. The worst I can remember recently is stuff like "I guess you know how to 4gate" and then leave without gg'ing lol. I think from what I've gathered is that the EU server is a lot worse that the NA server for bm, dunno if that's true though. Either ignore it, or treat it like the joke it is.

I can understnad at one point it might get to you. You know what might help? Make some light-hearted banter at the onset of the game. saying Hi! and hf gl! with a smileyface, or making cracks while playing (worker high-5!) can set a good mood going into a game. If you don't do anything people consider "gay" (cannon rush, 6 pool etc) I think the frequency will decrease? I dunno I never get bmed.

I have had it the other way too though. Some people just use their anonymity to be complete jerks. It comes with the territory when the game is popular.
One example of this:
I join a 1v1 we get into the game and I give the standard "gl hf"
I get in reply "FUCK YOU FAGGOT!!!!!!!"
I just shrug it off, I know people are going to cheese, BM, etc. But I don't really take it personally and I know I am probably never going to see that guy again so w/e.
+ Show Spoiler +But if I get offensive GG'ed when they were not even in a clear lead (I usually gg out at normal times and don't wait for many buildings to die)... I will make it a living hell for that person to get a win.

I dont know how it works on bnet 2.0, but when people bmed me on iccup after the game, id just insult them back and then put on /dnd. I like to think that them not being able to respond to me in any way and knowing they cant pisses them off more than anything, and even if it does not, it makes me feel good.

Well you know Shit happens... a lot mostly its people that really think they're the kings of the world and that stuff. I remember I played some guy that clammed he once went to Korea and bet BoxeR and he was a total ass, I went DTs and killed some workers, and the guy was like "you filthy bastard I'm going to f*ck you while you sleep!!!" (stuff like that) then I just went 1a and RAPED him and he was like "YOU MOFO PIECE OF CRAP!!!" (well you get the point) and he really just spammed sh*t till he leaves the game. And I've had a lot of those, really I know it happens a lot but well just tell them "If your going to sh*t talk you might as well sh*t talk it right, Learn from IdrA" Then they just rage quit :D I have about 5 or 6 games like that :D
Just don't listen to them or simply "Just go fucking kill him"
|
Whenever i get such comments i'll just 6 pool for a few games and im happy as ever againXD
|
Just ignore the people and continue on, if you don't reply you don't give any weight to their immature remarks. If you happen to be doing any cheese strategies that will increase your odds of getting flamed replies. But if you don't respond you won't let it affect you. They're just kids and they don't mean what they say. Some people are angry at life. On the "Shit my dad says" Tweet there is a quote "Everyone thinks their opinion matters. Don't argue with a nobody. A farmer doesn't bother telling a pig his breath smells like shit."

This. People are really friendly in SC and SC2. I remember being bm'd in q3 and cs but it was mostly ppl who were better than me who would talk trash. It gave me confidence to get better and eventually be better than them. It seems like in the BM in fps is different from rts as people who bm in fps only bm to people they are superior to, while in rts, you bm people because you lost or they did some weird strategy you weren't prepared for. I remember in cs when i first started, I got destroyed and these dudes would be like "you're f***in trash, uninstall. l2aim. f***in garbage". I was truly garbage lol but once I was good enough and learned how to control my spray and own with the scout, these dudes would never bad mouth me cus I was better than them. But in sc2, you have all these ppl bm'ing you when they are actually worse than you. I remember I got bm'd in a phantom match so I challenged this guy to 1v1 and I crushed him. He still bm'd me saying he wasn't trying and that I was trash. Just take the BM with a grain of salt. If they are really persistent, ask for another challenge to show them how truly bad they are.
|
Yeah, it sucks when it happens, but don't let it get to you. It really is luck of the draw anyway. I had a week during beta where I got BM'd almost every game, and nowadays it almost NEVER happens.
|
they're psychologically projecting... it has nothing to do with you
if someone watches your play and fair-mindedly comes up with the notion that you're awful... they aren't gonna tell you about it in that way. at worst they'd give you tips to help you improve. if someone just all-out calls you bad - never having seen either a replay or your face, they're not being 100% honest or fair with their evaluation or their tongue
so treat it like the joke it is. they're talking to a computer screen acting as a mirror. if they're doing it in midgame they're trying to get in your head. if they're doing it postgame they're trying to get out of theirs.

I've found that the higher leagues are actually the worst for this. Players in plat and below know they aren't very good, there are always some who think they are god but not too many. They BM about using cheap strats, when you get to diamond then they start the noob shit cause suddenly everyone thinks they are idra or Jinro (obviously not EVERYONE, i should have said every fucktard).
I had it earlier today, i started a new account on US a few days ago, the game before i got promoted to Diamond i got beat by some twat who said things during the game like "I'm letting you live, you do know that?" which i actually found funny at the time, anyways.... when the game is winding down and he's taken the entire map (he had been refusing to kill me off so i kept fighting with what i had) then starts telling me I'm awful blah. Finally the game finishes, i gg and leave.
The guy then sends me a message basically saying "You are such a noob, you are horrible". By this point the guy is just pissing me off and i happen to be looking at his profile so i reply "Hmm... I have 53 games played, am rank 70 plat and am playing against a 2400 diamond. Your MMR must be really bad."
After that, I got nothing more.
This is generally how I deal with the idiots who feel that beating me didn't make them feel manly enough (yes its ALWAYS men, I am a man.... I know women would be more creative than just saying "noob") and now they want to penis fence from behind the safety of 4000 miles of ocean and a computer screen. I don't need to be an ass to my opponents to feel like a man.

Haven't run into it too much myself, but personally if I've won and they're bm'ing, I just think it's funny. Skill vs bm, I'll keep my skill and they can keep their bm and their internet 'tough guy' attitude. I just find it funny how people can be so angry over the game and at the same time insult you for playing the game to much. What? Now who cares more about the game? Their rage doesn't even make sense- thus funny.
I can see how losing and receiving bm would be more aggravating as it's insult to injury. Offensive gg's still do rile me as I never prolong the game if I can't win.
My brother just played a 2v2 match and received a f*** you faggot after his and his partner's gl hf... so my brother and his partner straight up worker rushed them and won! So funny, particularly as my brother never cheeses.

When people talk shit to me in SC, I can't help but laugh. I can't help but think of the insecure nerd on the other side of the screen who needs acknowledgment. That always makes me smile.

I find the best to way to avoid bm is to not play terran or protoss.
|
I almost never had BM, at least not more than one ragequit line. What do you do to upset so many players!? I play try to force macro games whenever I get the choice, do you cheese every game or what?

I would be cautious in blaming the OP for bm. Considering bm is under control of whoever is dishing it out. Furthermore, I don't know how a person can upset a player with gl hf. I mean I guess in rl, there are some people that respond to 'good morning' with 'f*** you,' but generally we'd think the f-u guy was either having a bad day or is a jerk.
Random chance? Some players run into more bm than others? A particular level of rank on Battlenet? I wouldn't be surprised if high plat, low diamond is where most bm occurs. Knowledeable enough to think they're good, but not wise enough to know that there is a lot more to learn/ have a healthy respect for their opponent.

Ive never 6 pooled, never 2 rax and thats it, cause i dont like protoss too much. Its usually when an early battle comes, and for example i loose some lings cause they're missrallied. Okay fine they die. And then the fucktard says "omg your terribad". Fine its fine. But it just pisses me off, makes me play worse. Never insult. Its like if they see your not responding to the BM theyre just more excited about keeping BM'ing. And im not like a cold hearted guy that can take all the insults and just laugh at him, i go nuts and i wish i could do something about it. BUT its a game and i cannot do anything. So
1) hes laughing at me because hes winning in a game 2) i cant do nothing but feel worse, and play worse.
I think theres no real solution. I just dont like these type of guys, but well what can you do, my RL friends doesnt like these kinda games and my girlfriend is not very good but shes tries
|
lol i've been bm'd a few times but out of the many many games i've played its only a small minority, you must just be really unlucky or maybe it's like others have said, platinum to low diamond is the worst?

i almost never BM unless the guy BMs first. seriously, I once played 1 million lings on ICCup, and this guy thought he was so good and I was "stealing" his kills by parking my cannons at the edge. After going on and ranting on how I suck, he loses everything he has and blames me by saying "if I had more kills and more money, I'd survive". now, clearly he didn't know how to play 1 million lings, because you get your money and units back at the end, so we lose while he's still ranting. I was tired of him BMing me so much, I challenged him to 1v1 to make him stfu. After beating him, he goes on how he was too tired (bs) and other stuff.
It was funny though, watching the guy cry and get owned. seriously, 99.9% of the people that BM are probably noobs who are pissed that they suck nuts... + Show Spoiler +
