I started reading some reviews of recent albums of bands I've never heard of and whatever is good I'll be posting here. Some will contain artists that I'm already a fan and are well known, but if it's good I'll post too. Might save the trouble for ones with similar taste.

If you know some underground works - based on this entry's "theme" - please share it here too!

I didn't know labrie had a solo career.
Sounds kind of strange labrie singing with screaming too. Well, you learn something every day.

Wow. I don't really like Dream Theater, but James LaBrie solo stuff sounds sweet! :D Thanks for that.

He has two more albums under the MullMuzzler name that were a solo project but he had to release them under that band name for some reason thanks to the recording company. Other than his solo career James works on many other projects. His wikipedia page has a complete list, it's pretty extensive.

Just fully read your post asking for some underground projects, so I'll try to deliver. Orphan Project isn't entirely underground, they've released a few albums but they're pretty unknown. Their first album, Orphan Found was a great album. Solid guitar work combined with powerful vocals and an interesting story is a recipe for an enjoyable time.

Yeah, I got static impulse SE the day it came out in Australia, it seems like he puts a lot more emotion and passion into his solo stuff. Static impulse is just a really solid album all-round for me, i love rocking it while playing some energetic sc.

His DT singing can be quite brilliant technically, but for me it lacks the emotion of other prog singers...especially compared to someone like ray alder

Well, if you read only that line then it's vague. But if you listen to the albums, or at least the songs I posted, you can recommend something underground that is catchy, straightforward hard rock or metal (i.e. posting some gothic and folk stuff would be out of context). My last post contains some progressive hard and heavy, so people there mentioned Pink Floyd, Opeth, Rainbow (not as recommendations though, it was just that their sound reminded them of these bands).

Hope it's clearer now... looking forward for your recommendations, if you have any that fits here.
