Obviously, I'm going for the gangster look because I want to distance myself as much as possible from the scrawny, nerdy Asian stereotype (the kind that doesn't get girls).
As soon as I stepped in my school, I noticed a huge difference. Girls were actually looking at me (this never happened before), and some of them even smiled. I don't consider myself good looking in the face but for some reason, I just can't help liking hot girls. Therefore, I usually do a lot of the checking out while the opposite never happens, except with black/fat girls. By the way, not being racist here. I'd totally go crazy with a black girl if she were attractive enough, it's just that my parents would kill me if I ever brought one home.
I've never had a problem with approaching so I used that to my advantage and approached a chick that smiled at me (she had turned me down in the past). She's probably the worst kind of girl, the kind that thinks she's pretty but is actually not.

Conversation went great, everything went smoothly, lots of laughing, etc, but when I said, "You seem pretty cool, make sure I get your number before I go", she froze up, giving the same type of bullshit excuses I'm used to hearing (I'm not looking for a relationship right now). I'm usually not good at coming up with funny stuff on the spot, but this just came to me: "I think you should lower your expectations, and if you don't wanna do that, then lower your body weight." LOL.
I usually get really down on myself and my self confidence goes out the window after I get a rejection so I'd have to wait a while before I approach again. But shaving the Mustache and seeing all the attention I got gave me the biggest confidence boost ever, so I just shook the rejection off like it was nothing and approached again.
Success! Same line, "Make sure I get your number before I go." But I actually got it. And with a much cuter chick too.

I know it probably means nothing to you guys since most of you can at least get a number, but you have to understand how meaningful this is for me. I've never gotten a number without using groupwork or homework as a crutch. This was pure, unadulterated interest. I could feel it. If I manage to get a date, then this'll be my first real date (My mom set me up with an ugly girl once 0_0)
Who would have thought that shaving my mustache would do so much for me? The best part is that I didn't even have to use my newly found rubik's cube skills. I just had to have confidence without the mustache.

Girls dig the metro-sexual Asian much moreso than the nerd Asian. IMO, buy some nice fitting jeans, solid color undershirt with a button up over shirt, rock the black felt-like peacoat, watch out world, this guys coming through.

Based on observation, looks don't matter when you hit your 20s. I find this the case especially at clubs.

If a slight change in your appearance is all you need to help boost your confidence, even better for you! How you feel inside reflects how you appear to others on the outside.
Some reading for you if you're interested, check out Carlos Xuma's "Secret of the Alpha Male" to get you into the mindset of being confident in yourself and being able to project that look to others.

My roommate was growing out his stache for laughs, he's a good looking guy that can pull it off. He was talking to a girl who at a party literally said "i probably would have got with you if you didnt have that mustache". So he went upstairs and shaved with some random dude's razor. She was impressed but more so creeped out that he shaved so fast. Moral of the story, stay away form the mustache unless you can really rock it.

I think you would get more girls interested in you if you have some respect towards them and if you start being yourself, instead of acting. You see girls as "hot objects" and a good girl will notice this immeadiately. You also talk about that "fat girl that should lower her expectations or lower her weight": what's the difference between you and her? I'm not saying your fat, but you have definately more weight then most of the not-fat guys, just like that one girl.

Yeah, I totally wish I could do that, but coming from a position of insecurity, I have to "fake it till I make it" when it comes to confidence and that will seem really unnatural at first.

I'm personally against that statement so much for 2 reasons. First being that sort of stereotyping is immature at best and not really prevalant anymore as many of these so called 'nerds' are dressing more nicely. And second because you really shouldn't be "going" for a look at all.
But yes, also agree with rekrul when he says to lose the hat. and lose that 'gangsta' pose/stance/grin thing.

I don't care what I look like, haven't bought myself some clothes in years, and do all the nerdy things you can think of, but I don't find myself having difficulty engaging conversation with people because they know I know I love being a geek.
Once this girl said "hey nice scarf where did you get it?" I just have this huge grin and say "bought? i knit it myself :D" then she said looked at me for a couple of secs and said i was gay.... but heck!!! i didnt feel bad about it!

Okay just a few things to clarify - I think you're a bit superficial when it comes to girls (though obviously, your appearance does matter - it's not the be all and end all).
You've heard it before but it's all about confidence. You never ace anything your first time trying and every guy that's good with girls failed a good number of times. And high school is the place to try for this kind of thing! :D
You're probably noticing girls looking at you more maybe because you feel more confident, and girls are attracted to that =) good work!
