Many of you may know about the legend of miniWHEAT. You might have heard him cast, or perhaps you saw him review LEGO Batman on Epileptic Gaming. Either way, this little gamer, and my son, has taken an extreme interest lately in StarCraft 2.
After we did the fun little cast for the Newegg Winter WanFest 2010, I thought it would be cute to interview him about his first cast. Well that quickly turned into something completely different as miniWHEAT began asking about playing StarCraft 2.
So here it is. Episode 0 of a new series... miniWHEAT Learns To Play StarCraft 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzjC3rbzQVc
While this first episode doesn't ACTUALLY contain gameplay, I released it as a launching point for the series because I wanted people to see that this kid is actually that excited to learn to play this game. None of this was forced upon miniWHEAT... he is a product of his surroundings and has been an active gamer since 2.

Hahah, what you don't see there is the part I cut out where I tried to convince him that maybe he should start with an "easier" race. He was adamant about playing Zerg
Heh, that's cute. My son is similar in this regard... I'll definitelly watch, how you teach your little one, maybe to grasp how to approach teaching my own 7-years old kiddo. )) When I tried teaching him build orders it was way too technical for him and he got bored.
I hate to be a Debbie Downer... But someone seriously needs to call CPS. I never like seeing irresponsible parents ruining a mere child's life. You're going to allow your very young son to play Zerg? Are you serious? Bunker rushes, E-bay blocks, pylon/cannon harassment, 5 warpgate all-ins, blue flame hellions, banshees CHRIST WHEAT! THE BANSHEES! Who will be his idols? IdrA?! I'm sick to my stomach. I hope the right people see this video and lock you up, sir.

:D GL miniWHEAT!
Haha classic I read the first line and was like... UH OH. Then the punchline. I'm sure it will take awhile before we introduce him to the true dangers of Zerg.
That's why I was trying to get him to commit to Terran (which isn't in the video) but he wouldn't budge!

God he's adorable. I predict he'll win a showmatch with IdrA by next week.
teach him the blink stalker rush. Don't worry, IdrA will fast expand and will only have 1-2 roaches out by then.
arghhh I hate that rush.
MiniWHEAT is so amazing I have loved all the episodes/videos he has been in. Not going to lie, I enjoy following his gaming hobby career almost as much as I enjoy following the GSL (which is a lot btw).
Good Luck MiniWHEAT! I look forward to cheering you on in TSL4!
he will have his own teamliquid fan thread .... there will be action figures ... interviews ... and so many cute 2 - 3 year old fan girls.... cant wait to see that

I'll sponsor this event, $25 USD to the winning teams kid... There are enough freeloading parents in the world, so they get nothing. i.e. My sister-in-law. What a bitch.
Oh my god that was so cute *-* Gonna keep watching so that I can figure out how to beat this kid when I end up playing against him in the master league. + Show Spoiler +
Haha, the GG button at the end was just perfect. 100% going to join the fanclub. Can't wait for the first episode. I just hope he doesn't get bored too fast.
My 6 year old half-asian son wants to learn as well. Unlike mini-wheat he likes toss the best... and unlike mini-wheat his dad sucks at actually playing starcraft. Soon my son will be good enough to destroy me, thanks to his asian genes.
The first thing you should teach him as zerg is making GG's out of creep tumors. He'll mass queens and pwn all the 30 year old noobs in the bronze league EZPZ.

Now truthfully, how long did it take to get that 5 mins of footage I'm curious :D
I ONLY recorded 15 minutes (and a good 3 minutes of it was us just setting up and testing sound). The original video was 8 minutes and I cut it down to 5. I could have made it TEN minutes but I didn't want to bore people.
I figured that all the great stuff I cut out I can use on a lazy week as "outtakes"! There was definitely some hilarious stuff that didn't make it into the video. But now we're focusing on Episode 1!!!

You should become a director full-time, 33% efficiency when filming with a small kid is impressive! Or you might have a boy-genius on your hands :D
I just watched sc2 pre-school, looking forward to the rest, keep up all the good work you're doing wheat <3!
OMFG,I WAS SUPPOSSED TO GO TO TACO BELL... they close at 1am... and I was like, ok let me watch marcus teachin miniwheat here for a couple minutes... a couple minutes, yeah right... impossible to stop watching. #1 miniWHEAT fan here. THANKS JAMES U MADE ME MISS MY TACO MEAL
Behold, for we can not comprehend the magnitude and the epicness of what we just witnessed. It will come to us in 10 years, when we look back at this video and realize what a great game SC2 is, what a great community it surrounds, with all the people that devote their life for this game and for the people that play the game. In that video we saw the very essence of spreading esports and making Starcraft "happen".
On top of that, I am speechless about how good miniWheat could control the basics of the game already, wow. World Champion 2020! Just don't let him get addictive
Tell ya what this will be a true example of the, "product of your enviroment." This kid knows nothing but the love for games and that's fricken awesome
Must say its captivating to watch this little dude go at it :D SC2 really isnt a easy game to teach a kid this age but feels like you are really going at it in a nice and smart way. Best of luck to both of you and I am looking forward to watching some more episodes of this. You should deffinitly get Mr Day[9] come in and have some fun with miniWHEAT when he gets the basics down he is deffinitly on his way and Day[9] is just an awesome guy so I bet both of them would have alot of fun.
Gonna show this to my kid cousin and se if he wants to try it out aswell :D
Just a question, did you lower the mouse sensetivity or is miniWHEAT just adapting that fast to moving the screen around with the mouse?
GL and HF in the future from a impressed Swede ^_^
When is next episode gonna be up? Or has miniWHEAT already lost interest in the game?
Also you should really consider lowering the the scroll speed. With such limited motor skills he is gonna have a hard time and shouldnt have to deal with that kinda frustrating annoyance to begin with imo.
Man this brings back memories of when I used to play starcraft 1 when I was 4 and would refuse to have more than 7 workers on the mineral line because I thought it was too inefficient to make more and I would try to stockpile minerals and used to always have problems doing the boxing like he did
