I have eaten so much shin ramen that its completely flavorless to me now lol. Its all about the mi goreng instant noodles now anyways.
|
I got a box of shin ramyun at the beginning of the school year, they're all gone now. Yum yum. If you live in Canada, you can buy on of those big boxes in any Superstore.

|
that second video is so fucking fail. he threw away all the soup LOL
|
Omg those 2 videos were such fail why did you put them in OP lol...
|
Pretty sure I saw the bulk packs for fairly cheap at H-Mart

The Walmart superstore by my apt at school carries them. I also found them at Krogor, but for a lot more.
Wegman's carries them too if you're in that part of the country. That's where I had to go to get them at home.

Blog is a 5/5 just for the 2nd vid. That was hilarious.
|
ahaha the second video must be trollin=p
and Asian stores usually are cheap and they do have them in bulk =[ I dont know what asian stores youre going to. Anything that has to do with ramen online is expensive for some reason sadness =[
|
H-Mart is where I always get mine.
|
There are some really shitty imitation brands that fooled me into thinking i didn't like this stuff as much as i thought i did, but Nong Shim soups are amazing.
|
I saw Shin Ramyun at my local WALMART today. No joke. I didn't think they carried anything like that.
|
That hole in his hand was the most disgusting thing I'd ever seen in that second video, then he threw away the soup -.-

Theres one where I live (Carrollton,TX) and that place is packed with Asians, buying ramen and all this other awesome Asian shit.
btw, I'm making some ramen right now, 4:21 fucking AM, possibly going to make my parents wake-up.

You can get them at almost any asia store here in vienna

WHY DID U THROW AWAY THE SOUP????????????????
If you want dry noodles, I suggest "Mi Goreng".
WHY DID U THROW AWAY ALL THE SOUP!!!!!!!!! =[ =[ =[ =[ =[
=

The only H-Mart that I usually go to is in Uptown, where all the tourists and rich folks are... So everything is overpriced but Shin Ramyun is widely available, almost all the Chinese markets I go to carry in bulk or individual packets.
edit: Pretty sure Shin Ramyun is a global standard, like cup noodles or Nissin.
|
Lol at those videos. When white guys cook noodles... FAIL!
Anyway, what's the point in adding eggs to noodles? From my experience the egg always breaks all over the place and it's all soggy and unappetizing...
|
Asian supermarkets DO sell in bulks, a box of 24 packs is usually cheaper than buying 24 seperate

whats with TL's fetish with Shin Ramen?
it's the most overrated ramen in the world
there are lots of other good korean ramen brands that are way better tasting

I feel like TL has influenced so much of my view of the world, why not ramen choice too? Before that ramen thread I was pouring water into styrofoam cups like a chobo. And I thought adding eggs was a running joke. In short, shin ramyun ftw!!

I boil my ramen in the blood of virgins.

Anyway, what's the point in adding eggs to noodles? From my experience the egg always breaks all over the place and it's all soggy and unappetizing... Well, traditionally I believe the noodles are made with egg. Hence the term egg noodles. But since its instant stuff and dried it is omitted. And if you read my directions at the bottom of the OP i state how and when to put the egg in so it doesn't flake all over the place. You put it in at the last 1 minute of cooking and don't really stir it up, but just kinda layer noodles gently around it.
it's just a bit of extra protein in a meal that lacks it and it tastes pretty good, so why not?

idk, shin ramyun is so bland. only reason i like it is because it's the only damn ramen that's packaged as a circle.
for taste i'd definitely pick su tah myun > shin ramyun
and apparently some wholesale stores (costco and BJs) in NJ are selling lots of ramyun now o__o...
and 2nd video... what the fuck is he doing? LOL
|
I don't get what's so wrong with the second video. The soup is bland, it's not like he made a special soup for the noodles and then throw it out. I do this all the time if I made the soup from the spice packs that comes with the noodle.

No not really, if you waited for the cool time then the soup has soak a bit into the noodle which gives it the flavor already.

"the soup is what give the flavor"
"the soup has to soak a bit into the noodle which gives it the flavor"
thanks for proving his point that soup = flavor
any other arguments?
and to answer your question as to why people are going WTF, throwing out all the soup is unorthodox. and crazy.
no bias

Except you missed my argument that the soup would soak the flavor into the noodle already so having it isn't necessary.

We drink the soup because the soup is mighty tasty with all that MSG and salt stuff. I guess it might be a culture thing if you aren't Asian.

I'm definitely sure it's not an Asian thing(more like personal preference thing) because I'm Asian myself, maybe Vietnamese just don't do it? I'm pretty sure with delicious soups like Pho then we would eat till the last drop but the soup of any packaged noodles usually I don't drink the soup that much as I don't find anything special in it. In my case, I think that it's an insult for my taste bud to drink those soups in the packaged noodles(but eating the noodle with a slight taste of it is fine) but that's just me.
|
I generally don't drink the entire soup base but pouring it out before the food is gone is ridiculous. The contents of the water, like you said above, is probably a lot of salt and/or msg when compared to that of Pho` or some other soup where I would generally drink the broth all the way.

You can just tell by the voice of the lady in the first video that she was horny for some newdles.

I would like to make this post to apologize the few people that's replying to me.
I just wanted to make a post in the thread originally to state that I don't find the second video bad(to me). Since everyone's got their way of doing things then I shouldn't get into an argument with them.
