The world feels like a giant pit of idiots. To me that is. Sometimes I just feel like jumping off a bridge and hoping to find a world where.. people don't talk about COD 24/7 or.. insult me because I play Starcraft, or insult me because I don't have a PS3 or Xbox360, or I have a Wii, or I have a cellphone I don't care about, I'm short, stupid, suck at COD, suck at life.

Sometimes, I just hate my life. Sometimes I feel like beating up kids for no reason, other than to see their delicious pain on their faces, like they just destroy me. Why do people in modern world just decide that something is the norm and that you have to do something like that, and saying "no" pretty much makes you a wuss.

You're probably wondering why I feel like this. Well. Let's start with, how I met Starcraft.

1. I was born

I was born, my parents were great friends. With some people. One boy, whom I will refer to as John is probably now my best friend. He's 6 years older than me though. Anyways, when I was around 4-6 years old he introduced me to Starcraft, and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen.

2. I moved

I soon forgot about it until I moved when I was 8. Then the only way John, my brother and I could do anything together was using skype, and starcraft. So we played on the weekends together and sometimes I would stay up until the late midnight for the 4th grader.

3. I went to the last year of elementary school

For my last year, it sucked. The first half of it was really good. But after that things began to suck. In April my best friend there, got COD:MW2 and a PS3. Soon every other male in my class did the same, and I was quickly shunned from their COD filled conversations, and I was a loner. So, that's why I feel this way about the world... Having people shun me in my last year of elementary school really sucked, and it was bad. You know how as a kid you would go to friends house almost everyday to hangout. Yeah, I was never invited to people's houses again. Inviting others would be pointless, as they would politely refuse. That's when Starcraft picked up for me. I played it nonstop then. I played Starcraft to fill in these giant empty gaps of time. I didn't mind the being shunned after a month, I would still talk to a select few people who weren't completely idiotic like others were. I was content with Starcraft at that point. Now before this, I had never been able to beat the computer, and never been able to beat anyone else. I knew who Boxer was, but I only had a vague idea, of just how big he was. I barely even knew that there was still a proscene for Starcraft. I was hooked, when I figured out there was Flash, the best Terran player ever, and Jaedong arguably the best zerg player. My first match that I actually watched was the Winner's League Matches casted by NuketheStars and RanshinDA on the VioleTak channel. I watched progames day in and day out for the rest of that year. People shunned me but that was okay. I had Starcraft now. I joined Teamliquid as soon as I heard it existed. I knew that Starcraft 2 was coming out, and I begged my parents for a new computer. My old computer was worn down, it could barely run Starcraft 1 and Diablo 2 at the same time.

4. Starcraft 2

Finally I got it. My dad went on a business trip and got the computer parts and asked someone to assemble it. It was great, and on July 27th I went to the store with my parents when my brother had made the mistake of asking if he could go there, and I bought Starcraft 2. I wasn't even supposed to buy it that day, but my parents gave in anyways. It was probably the happiest day of my life.

I still feel like the world sucks, but at least Starcraft is how I cope. I look forward to coming home everyday and playing this amazing game

So that's how I met Starcraft... Now the being shunned at school is starting to make me a little bit worried. At least some people are still open to the idea of Starcraft, and a proscene, and the GSL. But there's no one I can talk about it to, but John whom I mentioned a while back. Thanks for reading. Gogogo Starcraft!

EDIT: People are screwing up my age. I am 13. Where I live elementary school ends in grade 7 and highschool starts in grade 8.

The world IS a giant pit of idiots - it's sad, I know. Look around and you see humans destroying the planet (and each other) through their greed and inherently evil nature...that's how it is. I encourage you to ignore and avoid anyone who judges/makes fun of you for what you do (i.e. play StarCraft) and surround yourself with people that aren't like that.

But yeah, I totally hear you when you say the world's messed up, because it is. Unfortunately, it's not going to get any better, and these days I often have the feeling that God's going to end it pretty soon. I was a super-nerdy StarCraft gamer throughout middle school and high school, and even now in my fourth year of college I'm still playing it pretty regularly...but that's nothing to be ashamed of. I take comfort in the fact that it's a well-made game that stretches your brain like no other, and it's better than blowing a few hours watching TV or getting wasted or other trash like that. So don't be ashamed of it and stay away from/laugh at the morons who pre-judge you for the games you play. May God have mercy on them for being so ignorant.

Heh, I wouldn't worry about that. Most people of my age and people in my nearest location think of me as if I was from another planet when I even mention I play StarCraft2. Most of my Facebook friends have no idea what I babble about when I mention StarCraft2. In the end, I just shrug it off. I do what I enjoy in my free time. It's imo certainly better than listening to absolutelly boring conversations people of my age usually have. Just all the regular daily-worries, gossips and stuff like that...they can stuff it, when I.have free time, I have free time and these things can just kiss my rear end :D

Though, having someone nearby here, who'd play StarCraft2, I'd not mind. Could be awesome. I'm not counting my significant-half, they do play but they always claim Protoss are OP and it drives me nuts, so I don't even want to talk about SC2 with them. <.<

Bottom line... just do what you enjoy.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion and at times the world feels like that to most of us. But you have SCII and a whole group of supporters here at TL. Plus you have John, parents, and a brother, who all care about you. So the world can't be all bad.

You should rather think that you're shunning the idiots and adopt the attitude of a lone wolf.

Same thing happened in my school (the "ZOMG COD EUPHORIA"") , though I'm lucky enough to have friends that Hate COD and understand my love for Starcraft (even if they don't play it).
My advice, try to look around for people in your school that play Starcraft (you might be surprised ) you could even start a blog post saying: "Hey does anyone who goes to my school play Starcraft?"

And hey, as long as you have at least one friend that plays and likes to talk about Starcraft, that's really all you need. Those COD people can go fuck themselves, the game will get boring in a month while your still playing Starcraft.

Uhhh.....are you 10?

Anyway, yeah...the world is a giant pit of idiots, but I have to agree with Hawk...your logic is a bit out there. The logic you use is the same they use...let me illustrate:
They: like COD, don't have SC/SC2, thus they don't like you
You: don't have COD, have SC/SC2, thus they are a bunch of idiots

Srry. But my reasoning, if you read the rest, They shunned my in elementary school. I don't really care what they think.. but it's that they are actually shunning me. I like people, honestly I don't mind it, it just worries me to think that they would just shun me because they play COD and I don't I call them idiots cuz they shunned me, not because they play COD. I like COD it's a good game, just that they shunned me, and now this is where I ended up.

elementary school like kindergarten through 5th grade?

Again, are you 11 or something?

Ohhh.. right forgot to mention. My brother quit starcraft. So... Anddddd my parents say I was overreacting. So John is all I have left with my starcraft journey. That's cool with me though, my brother and my parents keep me from going insane with starcraft.

Your only 13 and by the time you really grow up you will come to realize that people are even dumber as you go. Yes it's a sad truth but I think it's a general rule that people are peoples worst friends; if that makes sense.

Well at least I'm glad you found comfort in SC but you shouldn't hide from the world. Not in your age. There are some cool people out there but you need to look hard to find them.

Ah to be 13 again. Actually I take it back, that age sucked. Best ages are from 4 to about 11, and then it's all downhill from there.

I understand man. I get lost in the nothingness inside of me, I was confused. And I let it all out to find
that I'm not the only person with these things in mind.
