In addition to what Grobyc said, my typical ritual, if you will, for losing is to type out a gg + what I feel I did poorly or my opponent did well in the game if we had a decent game of back and forth, a good transition out of a failed cheese/rush (or a new way to make a cheese succeed that I hadn't seen before), or whatever else might have made the game "good." If the game wasn't very good, I'll probably guess aloud the reason why I lost to my opponent before quitting and let them confirm, deny, or whatever they want. Just because I don't actually type "gg" doesn't make that disrespectful, I feel. Say I lose mid-game because my macro was just horribly off and I had 2k/1k banked somehow and he came and steamrolled me. Those games to me are as disappointing to lose or even win (it's difficult to learn what you could have improved on if you just smashed the other guy) as they would be to watch, and, in my opinion, don't deserve to be called "good" even as a concession before leaving. On the other hand, as a winner, I will type "gg" if my opponent does so as a response, and additionally "wp" if the game was in fact well played from my perspective. It's just how I feel both phrases should be used, that's all. | ||
