Guys, I'm trying to edit this a bit,
because it was too much typing at once,
and I know I fucking wrote sentences into each others, so #1 sorry, #2 trying to work on the grammar enough that it is comprehensible lol.

yeah, I'm actually on a tight business deadline and I didn't want this turning into a series lol....so I just typed a like a madman, I'm sure you could cut 50% of it and it'd still be the same, but its that edgy feeling that I wasn't clear, because it is a bit of an abstract topic, so you need a lot of work to really be concise to articulate it well, but I didn't have the time so I just tried to power through it. But, you're absolutely right and I'm absolutely exhausted and now time to get back to work ^^

haha, i found your story about your adventures in seminary highly amusing.

also about the whole personality thing, I hear a lot of missionaries and people serving in ministry tend to be ISTJs, since they're very loyal, hard-working and don't ever give up. Which is probably why they clash so much with you (and myself, being an ENFP haha).

and like you, I find that my personality has balanced out over the years -- I hear that circumstances do that to you. In particular, in the working world, I found I had to work a LOT on my attention to detail (S), be very logical and methodical (T), and have a very organized schedule to get everything done (J). But, still -- I'm very strong on my NF attributes.

By the way, if you could answer this, how does this relate to a 15 y/o high scholer who's not sure what he wants to study, and who just got a ENFP, or is this only meant for people in grad school/working ppl

Oh the cube been a while I hadn't heard of this. Good subject of conversation if you ask me.

There is a bit too much things going on. Maybe you should edit it and try to send less in every paragraphs, try shorter sentences too, I kinda lose track of what you are saying here and there.

I enjoyed some though, but yeah actually made most of these realization already.

And oh funny test for the personality, not a huge fan of those anyway. Got ENTJ with just 1% in judging, I have no idea what it really means but still some fun reads !

P.S : What is a master of divinity ? Like theology ?

What immaculate timing...I was just going through this thinking process the last couple months of my life. Glad to see that I approached it similarly to the way you approached it...and not just because it was validation for my ego, but because I actually agree with most of your insights. 5/5

I'm going to have to re-read this again later to sort it out but thanks for typing it up! (it's like a shit ton of information/ideas in there and my mind is kinda off atm ^^).

I was taking the personality test and I got INTJ, googled a few description of it and was like WTF MIGHTYATOM IS A NOOB AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT, because the descriptions were generally only half right or so... and I'm not a big believer of astrology/personality tests.

it turns out I missed/skipped 2 questions (again... too tired ) and now I'm a ISTJ and I think the description is much more accurate (maybe 80-90% accurate?). I will go through the cube test later when I get the chance.

Ok, I ended up reading this at work. It was a really great read but, just like Accer, I think I also need to let it all sink in before I can really comment on this. I also want read it a couple more times to completely understand. Nonetheless, I did learn quite a bit about myself and more. Thanks for this, I enjoyed it very much.

that cube thingy didnt work at all for me.. when it said there is a ladder, i couldn't help but think of minecraft ladders which are obviously made out of wood and glued to its face. That's obviously not my personality influencing this x)

anyhow, first test was pretty damn accurate, INTJ for world domination!

whats also funny is, someone further up mentioned he did a process similar to your approach there - well - i'm kinda doing the same i think, except for i'm only like in the middle of it, the other half is still coming up, but i was already thinking that i kinda need to do that mass research stuff like you described.. people is weird.

anyhow, 5 to make it to the "only 2" section now And i really have to congratulate you, this is the first of your life guide like blogs that didn't make me feel like shit lol ^^

and hey drooL, man up, its only your first semestre. Been there, its a cake walk. Just wait when you start your fifth haha :D

Finished reading it. Awesome David.

You know, a couple years back Steve Pavlina had a blog post about finding the life goals and such. His advise was to take an empty sheet of paper and let your subconcious flow until it suddenly pops out and you should write everything down that came to your mind. I stared at that piece of paper for about 30 minutes, then quit. It was still empty. The thing with the magazines, then further collection of information, then testing it out alone makes this post so invaluable to me. I really thank you. I will print this out and reread it everytime I feel lost.
Do not regret. Always forward, never back.

thx, lol, that reminded me that, I was only 2 previous Entp's in the entire presbyterian church of Canada, that should have been a warning sign right there. But same, when I started work, it was a bit of an effort to focus on the s and j part, but generally my asshole nt attribute just can't be over come ^^

no its not, but you still have a ways to go cause you have to go through the basic development and awkwardness of high school first lol. but this can be very helpful in how you approach your schoolwork and recognize that you're not a procrastinator in terms of being lazy, but rather wired a bit differently. So knowing that, let your naturalness flow for creative work, but for tasks you need to get done on time and in a systematic fashion, just make the task very simple, don't think too much into it. You have project due, set a firm deadline for yourself that is at least a week before it is actually due, and be clear about your intentions, are you doing this project to prove how smart you are compared to others or to actually just get a good mark or that you actually don't really care about it. Feeling bad about things after the fact when you actually set yourself up for it, isn't productive, but write me back after you hit senior ^^

Edit: but there is no justification for being lazy though ^^ you'll eventually know the difference.

@pokeyAA LOL

@impervious necessity of working in a team

@drooL unfortunately homework ftw lol

@rezoacken I agree, I lose track of it even when I read it, but when I finally launch my two companies by mid-dec, by then I'll have a professional editor go through these again, till then suffer! ^^ Masterrs of Divinity is for those who will be ordained priests or go on to their masters of theology and PHD to teach. It's actually the first university degree created (as I recall).

@caelym hopefully I get my companies up first, then I can sponsor a big SCBW and SC2 tourney for you guys ^^

@gchan glad it was insightful to you, my sympathies to having to live this painfully keke

@projectvirtue i do it about every year or so, I reckon you're probably still at the same point, that is why the images are still so strong.

@crazeman The actual test like 500 questions or so (I can't really remember but like 6 pages or doublesided) the more questions you do the more accurate it is to matching your profile, but again, its just a profile, as long as it gives you some insight. Noob I am not keke.

@YoonHo & Accer Remember to just take whatever you get from it and leave at that, if there is more in there for you, it'll be apparent later, if not, don't force it, you'll just go nuts. ^^

@Sylv & Z3kk ^^

@MisterD I've seen people it didn't work for, but its also about clearing your mind as much as possible, I usually always come back to this test when i'm most depressed for whatever reason and just close my eyes and do it. and sorry if I made you feel like shit LOL life is work in progress always and I'm just basically always saying, just go for it. ^^

This one for only for Christians or Catholics, I am not aware of the requirements for study to be a rabbi or monk, but this is a very academic track to be either a theologian or a priest. ^^

Edit: Christians & Catholics same/same, in Korea we say it like that, but for westerners, it would be Protestants and Catholics (both being Christian).

If you are P and a genius P, you look like you pull diamonds out of your ass when everyone is furiously trying to work things out, that isn't the case of course, you are always thinking, all the time, its not an on and off switch.

But lets say you do a team project in school, the work load is never that much that you can't do it all by yourself, so you do your part and lets say you are the project leader, for a university project, you generally assign work and then its gets put together.

but in the real world, the work load really to the point where a single person cannot do it, and you need to work on it together each and every day or else the results simply won't be there and the higher up you go in business, the most the people on your team are specialized.

In this case, your object is to get the most out of your team, whether they like it or not, or aka, management. When you're on the strategy side, still being a P is fine for very complex strategy, but if you are in the middle of a war or a tight deadline, the execution and operation side becomes nearly 100% everything because as long as you execute better, you normally will succeed (unless it really is that kind of 'you're totally fucked situation or outclassed situation), so you need to be a J through and through, you need to go into what I call 'machine mode' and break everything down and ensure everything is coordinated properly. This doesn't mean micro manage, but it means that you are 100% aware of what everyone is doing and what is the expect result and what is the over all timeline. Now the P part kicks in when people are stumped because you're thinking about the issues subconsciously and then when it comes up, bang you have a solution and off they go.

But here is the kicker part, since I'm a E, I get energy from managing (generally), which offsets the exertion I have in being completely and totally organized and as I've gotten older, I litterally try to shut down my over innovative thinking brain and just say, BE EFFICIENT, I AM A MACHINE, I WILL DO. And its tough at times to power things through and to keep doing it, day in and day out, but i'll tell you, only being a J at times will win a war because you need that operational effeciency to simply achieve something real and sustainable. Sometimes, I'll write on my MSN, mega machine mode and that is when I tune out the entire world and just live for the task as a robot, but other times when its just too much and its no longer a focused routine, but just will power, then I change my msn to 'man on fire' (like the washington movie) meaning, I'm fucked, but I'm all in. lol and I think that is when the P kicks in.

If other guys are reading this and aren't that familiar with these entp crap stuff, don't worry about, its really just more of an analogic way of speaking about it.

enfp. definitely f, not t, especially evidenced by tonight lol. we'll see who finds out in the morning. little blue solid-color cube floating in front of my palm w/ ladder leaning on it, i dunno what ladder is made out of, saddle on my horse (lol!) giant gaint storm clouds but in the distance and i really like big storms. reading your post is almost like reading my personal journey, dunno if thats because its a path everyone takes or what. im at the stage where i just broke through, started reading everything, and inserting myself in different places to see where i fit. i didnt consciously realize it until reading this but yes, thats exactly what im doing. i just recently realized my personal value system is radically different from everyone ive met and that no matter what they say its fine to define it against what my parents taught. which is when when it come to religion, i definitely rub hairs the wrong way. like venemously and ive got fangs and 'opposite fur'

Haha, I can't see ENTP and ENTJ being all that different. I've got a little bit of P in me

I guess the important difference is that an ENTJ is 'supposed' to follow through with detailed plans while an ENTP is more inclined to wing it?

A mighty post by MightyAtom! Love it! Even if it took me 3 days to get from start to finish :D

I remember taking the Myers-Briggs test when I was in high school and being an INTJ, and thinking "wtf is this this isn't me?!" and when I took it again just now 3 years later, I am still an INTJ, and it seems to fit almost perfectly. I guess we grow into our personalities.

My cube is small and black in a vast desert separated from the ladder, horse and flowers, and a huge storm is brewing

You need to add the line "You are in the desert and you see a cube" to the cube test. I went through it here first and was a little confused by the desert line until I clicked on the site. Minor detail. I really love this post, there is a friend of mine who just seems lost these days and I think he would gain a lot by reading this.

Results I received:

I am INTJ I feel it describes me as well as could be expected. Many parts are dead on.

I have an orange cube, difficult to tell the size right now. I didn't know about the desert at first, so the desert was added to a cube floating in the middle of nowhere. The desert is flat and endlessly expansive.

The ladder is a yellow 24' extension ladder, there is dry mud caked on it, the fiberglass is sun baked and the rails are worn, though the ladder still seems very sturdy. The ladder is leaning on the cube, it is not extended and about 2' protrudes from the top, this puts the cube size into perspective now, it's about 10' tall.

The horse is brown, with black hair, the hair has an impressive sheen on it. The horse is standing right next to the ladder. No saddle or anything of that nature is present.

I recall a storm but I don't see any signs of it, I think it passed a long time ago.

After thinking of flowers, I decided not to add any to the picture.

I was actually pretty shocked when I continued to read about how to interpret the image. I'm glad i took some free time to relax today, I really enjoyed coming across this post. Thanks. Now to digest all this nifty info over a beer, cheers!

I think its more than that, over all efficiency is higher on all levels over a long sustained period of time, but as an NT is is very high in strategy and with the J very high in operations, so ENTJ from the ones that I know tend to be very accomplished across the board, where the P in and ENTP makes exceptional in a few achievements but over all efficiency is quite shitty unless we feel challenged. Again, the combination in our profiles create very different results over periods of years, but on a single project that is just a week long, not that much difference.

@jlim pleasure, just remember its a profile of what people have tested as, its not actually you, just a collection of people who have exhibited similar characteristics.

@RisingTide, ^^, Intj, quite rare lol, but on this type of forum, I'm sure the rare profiles are actually quite common, ^^ @ your visualization; its just how your subconcious preceives things, its not a judgement on your self, just on how your self views things at the moment.

@Biscuitt Thanks for pointing that out, added it in, and glad that you've found some worth to it all ^^

@krndandaman Masters international business KU 2003 class, I would say my main education was from my time in the Korean gov't agency and as a consultant at PwC in Korea.
I dont think i've ever been religious, but I get what you mean, i attend service every week I can, I don't listen to the sermon and pray before each meal and pray for my family and friends. I let my faith be as it is and let God reveal things as they come.

And don't worry about the career profile thingies, I think they are completely way off for everyone, a personality/profile test stretches things too far when they get into really basic things like what people are attracted to or like. Being an ENTP or INFP, has no relevance if you like chocolate or vanilla, or the job you truly excel in.

Good read, I especially enjoyed the part about making the choice between standard and nonstandard. It's something that I've been struggling with in college deciding whether I want to just do what's necessary to get the best grade possible for a class or to maximize my learning and then move on to something else.

I've gotten INTP all the times I've taken that test (about 5 or so). I'm taking this to mean that I haven't developed that much and should get out of my comfort zone a lot more

I think you won't really ever change in that basic profile, but the degree of how strong some of those aspects are may change more to being even, but other ones like your I&T being that strong, won't change probably much, but the biggest thing is simply, that you're aware of what is your strength and also a major hang up and just being conscious of that, but to actually expect or try to change yourself based on the degrees of these 4 aspects wouldn't be natural. Rather, over a period of years, likely as you mature, it will naturally happen, but I'm sure if you do feel as though you've been too much in your comfort zone, you likely are ^^

I'm really happy I read through your post a second time =)

When I took the Myers Briggs test at my University 5 years ago I rolled INFP. Today, the online test places me in ENTJ. After graduation, I spent three years in China. Because I was so passionate about learning Chinese, I had no English speaking friends for about 18 months. My immersion must be responsible for the big shift in personality.

Actually in Korea, there is a disproportionate amount of ENTPs compared to North America;
but that is a huge difference.
But being an ENTJ makes you one effiecient mofo now ^^

ROFL did you seriously just use "the cube" as a serious guide for career advice? That's the pickup gimmick from "the game". You're supposed to use it to try and trick girls in to thinking that you have some profound insight into their personality.

You really need to spend a little more time editing your posts. They just ramble all over the place with no clear point to them, and it takes way too long to figure out what you're trying to say.
