I'm not a huge facebook fan, but I find that, most of people who have beef with facebook simply do not know how to use facebook and complain for the wrong reasons.

I keep facebook very personal, literally everything I have is either friend-only or myself-only. It has its flaws, but it serves its purpose; just spend some time and learn to use the thing properly.

I removed myself from all those stupid games exept for one and removed all the pages I was fans of except for things I actually liked. I went from around 1500 different types of things allowed to around 100. Most liberating feeling ever.

The people who I noticed who seem to hate Facebook are either elderly people who are not technologically apt to begin with and nerds. It is amusing to hear people from LANs bitch how FB is Hell on Earth.

I got a facebook account to troll and to accept the irl noobs that flood me about it.
I very hate how stupid this site is "hurrdurr i go to mc donalds, i take 350 mores pictures"

Just use it as you want, communicate with friends and stop bitching to kids who like farmvile its their life... I use facebook well i got it open all the time im on the comp. just to talk with friends, look at photos from parties, read some gaming news from Razer, Stealseries atc...
its nice to got everything on one page, i dont care that my gradpa plays only Farmvile and is lazy to answer my messages...
it should connect ppl and yes it is connecting em so i dont see a problem

Like people said already, you can block it. And while I agree with you that these features are pointless in a social network, I think people have the right to use them as they want, since they're already there. We all spend a lot of time reading a Starcraft forum and watching tons of streams ridiculously early in the morning and such. It's not that different.

I deleted Facebook a long time ago... Never regretted, if somebody wants to know something about me, they can call or MSN... So yeah instead of wasting precious hours on facebook, I do the same thing, but on TL.net

i personally dislike facebook because

1. i hate the news feeds on everyone, i don't care if someone ended their relationship or if someone posted on wall on another friend.

2. The advertisements piss me off on the side, and the friend suggestions of people who i don't even know.

3. The drama, if a friend posts on the wall to a picture she thinks you look good in and your girlfriend reads the comment and its just something more you have to deal with. Or people giving you shit that you dont message them enough on facebook ect.

i just don't like it lol its definitely not for me

I just don't like that people just add others to have the higher friend count. Really, you talk to all 400~ of your friends? Then it recommends I add random people it thinks I know. It becomes a friend's list war, who can have more people added.

I've been on facebook since 2005 when it was exclusive to college students. I remember it being a privilige to have one since you needed a college email AND your college needed to be recognized.

I'm ok with the fact it's not exclusive anymore, but I hate what it does to people (especially those who get addicted to the silly little game applications).

I will continue to do my part and mercilessly make fun of everyone on Farmville.

My reasons despising it are completely different. It's a complete invasion of privacy first of all. People spending ALL their time on there is quite sad. My main problem is people who do so in libraries. Whenever I need to print something, all the computers in the libraries are taken for people to check their bloody Facebook. Personally, I don't play anything on Facebook and if anyone invites me, I just ignore it.
