Going to England in the new year. Football Q

I just found out that my Xmas present this year would be to fly to England for 5 days, to go watch a football match. Now we're basically looking at it like, 1 day in the air, 1 day before the match, 1 day after, and 1 day returning. Now I've tried looking online, but how would I go about getting tickets to a Liverpool or a ManU game? I've tried looking at the team sites and haven't had much luck. Is it possible to purchase the tickets say like 2-3 months in advance? Would it be even possible to get tickets to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge or Anfield, where they're not playing like a Wigan? Any help would be very appreciated.

I did nearly this exact trip last year. Went to see two man united games and one liverpool game. Ended up buying the tickets on matchday right at Old trafford for one of the games. For the Anfield game and the other Man U game we had the tickets about a month in advance. Sometimes to get tickets prior to match day you have to contact the respective supporters clubs.

From what I know it is extremely hard to get tickets like this, especially for a derby. Two years ago, I spent a week in London and Liverpool, watching the UEFA Champions league quarterfinal games between Chelsea and Liverpool (4-4), and Arsenal and Villareal (3-0). I got the Chelsea ticket by going to the stadium the day before and asking for a ticket. The ticket lady said there were none available, but then an older lady behind her was like "lol he's a tourist" and gave me a ticket. The Arsenal ticket I went to get like 30 min into the game. I also tried getting a ticket for the FA Cup semi-final or something, but they don't actually sell it at Wembley Stadium. We were going to buy it from someone on the street but were actually caught by motherfing undercover police mid-transaction. However, being tourists, we were let free with a "be careful!"

Okay I don't know if that really helped, but that's how I got, and didn't get, tickets.

Is the man united link to sign up their supporters club. I beleive it costs money.
Other option is to look for travel tours companies. A lot of them have "ins" with the respective clubs.
If the big club is playing another big club then you will have no chance of getting tickets.
A big club vs a normal club was not bad to get tickets. I saw Man U vs Aston villa and vs Wolverhampton. Then saw Liverpool vs Wigan. Going to bed now, will check the thread tomorrow morning to see if I can be of more help.

if it was me i would go to liverpool. 2 reasons:
1- El "niño" Torres.
2- THE BEATLES...

GL finding tickets it extremely hard... i was lucky enough that my fathers friend is big fan of liverpool and he got tickets
