I'm so excited!! Beat a 1 basing zerg going for fast mutas to finally make it into platinum. This is my first rts and I'm really excited that I am starting to improve. Even my apm was improved as I was able to keep it around 60 apm throughout the game and around 150 during fights. So ecstatic, now i just need to find a good tournament to play in.
By the way i'm a protoss.
The game i won to make it into plat was like this. On lost temple i sent my first probe immediately after building the first pylon to scout and i luckily scouted that he was in close positions. Went to his base and saw his early pool (figured a 10 or 12 pool). Was able to scout and noticed he had not taken his expansion, so i rushed to 2 gate for some early pressure. Was able to push in his base and take out 10-12 lings with about 5 zealots, got a few drones and then escaped. During that time i expanded since there was no way he could rush out. When i left i noticed a fast spire so i made 2 stargates for phoenix. He came to my two bases to attack with about 10 mutas against my 4 phoenix and about 10 stalkers, so i was able to hold it off without taking too much dmg. I scouted again and noticed he still hadn't expanded so i sent a probe to scout the rest of the map and sure enough found him making two bases. built a pylon, waited til the 2 bases were complete, then warped in 6 zealots to wipe out the 2 bases while at the same time pressuring his front so that the mutas would stay put. After he's two bases went down he taped out.

Hey congratulations. As long as you focus on always playing better every game than you did the last, you'll quickly be in diamond.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I've done a lot of training using the micro trainer and yabot to really fine tune my builds. I think my biggest thing left is being able to engage correctly and react a little faster to threats in my base.

Find a good tournament? I hear the GSL Season 3 will have open tryouts again
But seriously congrats and good luck with the improvement! If you are practicing and keep learning diamond will be no problem!

Nice job! I remember when I first got into plat a month ago; the first game I played I got bunker rushed and lost.
