I've been pretty bored lately ...
As far as RL goes (lol) everything is fine - money, job, education, job prospects, uni, free time, excercise, family, hobbies etc.
But i love my computer, and i love spending time on it ahaha Playing SC2, but only customs with friends etc, i have no real urge to be top of the ladder (lol 300 bonus points) or mass game, i just like keeping tabs and trashing my 1.9k diamond friends with terran all ins when i work out some BO they cant handle yet lol
Seriously though, nowdays im 20, and like, my time is pretty productive. I rarely waste time anymore, i'm always doing something good for me
Back when i was a kid, id spend all my time playing korean MMO's, o2jam, worms world party (proper biatch) and all sorts of crasy shit. Id be "level 2 (lol)" members of seralabs, idproject etc. (god forbid if you remember that ahahaha Aaerox i know you're on here somewhere - you guys were a million times smarter than me, and obviously r1ch would kick my ass any day)
And tbh, i loved my life back then too - i was always happy and never depressed
I really get the urge to play some timewasting game... but i know for a fact that it will be boring because i don't have any friends that would play it with me
I mean seriously, games like WoW is SO much fun when you got a close group of friends to play with - just fucking around I use the money i make sometimes to buy random games i think i might get into - the new worms, the new L4D, SF4 haha - but really i play them for a few hours and get bored because i don't have any community or friends that i wanna play with
Tbh, even maplestory is damn fun... just that feeling of playing a wizard and spamming that home key to cast magic claw when im with like, 3 of my friends. lol.. those were the days i loved that game ahahah
I really miss casual gaming... everything is too hardcore. Its like, on the inside, i know i would only be satisfied playing MS if i was like top level and raping everyone, but i also know its equally fun just screwing around with a couple of buddies at any level Playing SC2, dota etc. with my team is like, yeah lets be really good at this game, but tbh, the most fun i have is when we decide to fuck around on some shitty custom map like warlocks hahahaha
Even work is like that, i lost my passion for playing poker because regardless of the money.. its just boring. The most fun i had playing poker is playing live with buddies or having all of us buyin 2k for a 5c10c horse game and capping every pot lol
Bleh
Any suggestions?
I'm looking for a bunch of tlers to play something really stupid lol
I browse the sports and games stuff a lot. Minecraft was cool for a bit but the lack of goal did make me bored eventually

Well you say you don't have an urge to play but you apparently do. I can't think of anything I can say to stop you. Maybe chat one of your friends up about it.

Play Crazy Arcade, KartRider.

I agree with you fully. Games are so much fun when you're a noob at them/casual gamer. I miss those days when you'd just load up a game and goof off with friends because you didn't know any better. I played Maplestory for a while as well, 1.5 years or something. Played casual for about 5 months before I got super into it. Ended up doing all that 'top level' stuff you said and it was fun at first, especially organizing HT runs, but after a while I got so sick of it I just ended up quitting abruptly. Plus Nexon America sucks, so it's very discouraging waking up at 4 am to clear Anegos, get into a rush mule vs dc hacker war, and then repeat 3 times a day (this was in a smaller server mind you). The amount of hacking and abuse in that game was absurd, no point in playing. If anything it's MORE fun to just screw around with friends at any level (which I ended up doing a lot of the time with friends when we got sick of high level stuff). So if you are indeed downloading Maplestory...stay out of high level stuff. It'll eat up your time, if that's what you want, but the low level stuff is a lot more fun.

Starcraft really made casual gaming hard for me. Once you start getting competitive into something you're just blown away at how huge the skill gap is so when I start something new I just get reminded of it.

lmao i go through the same bs faze ever so often were i just get bored of my regular games of SC2 and CSS and go back to WoW or RS for like a month T_T
the only way to beat it is to find something you like and play it for a while and sooner or later your head will snap back and you'll say WTF AM I PLAYING and go back to being normal ^_^

get some friends together to play team games of HoN/DotA/LoL?
|
It's true. The experience isn't really about the game you are playing but more about the time you are having with your friends. Unless you are trying to go pro and make some money.
I played so many horrible 8 and 16 bit games growing up, but I have incredibly fond memories of them because I had friends to play with and against. If I was just playing them alone, I'd probably be like the Angry Video Game Nerd
Honestly, I'd recommend console gaming for you if you have RL friends that are close to you. PC gaming is very isolated and introverted and unless you are apart of a community you love, it's not very satisfying. Playing co-op console games with a couple of buddies on the couch in the living room just talking about anything is really where it's at if you aren't into the super competitive scene.

When I get bored with video games, I return to real life. When I get tired of real life, I return to video games.

Very true. Reminds me of this summer that I completely wasted trying to own people in Tekken 6 with all my fancy combos and whatnot instead of just crotch punching my way to victory. I still suck, though.

Bleh i hate comp gaming
Just faced a 1900 terran in craftcup
how to beat terran as toss: Roll over and die. There is no tech or econ advantage you can possibly gain.

300 bonus points? buddy i have like 1k lol..fml
play LoL its fun
|
After almost 7 years of competetive dota (before allstars even came out), LoL, HoN or dota itself really doesn't have a kick for me unless im playing with my team
|
completely agree op, D:... i game with my brothers alot, and we joined MMORPG's together, and we sit next to eachother, so its pretty fun. but now i play LoL and my bro plays an FPS, and my other bro got a job...
i try finding friends on LoL, but everytime i joke around in vent, someone complains that im not calling MIA's instead (even tho i still do) and im too afriad to talk in liquid's channel cause they're probably all better than me, and i dont wanna be the casual noob who does the worse.
|
I might make a maplestory thread in the sports and games - force everyone to start from level 1, you MUST level together, play for 2 weeks and then see if we get bored or not, MUST screw around and have fun, no eliteness
lol what a good way to waste time hahahaha
|
Speaking of Maplestory, I might have a 3-hour fun stint at a private server now... then quit (for another few months).
|
Oh yeah are private servers any good?
Whats the diff

I was in the EXACT same situation as you a few days ago. I just reactivated my WoW account. It is true, games just aren't as fun without a community. Starcraft has TeamLiquid, but you can't chat on the IRC while playing so it becomes pretty boring after a while.
Luckily, some of my friends play WoW, so now I'm just back with them. It is the perfect time to join as well. You have a little more a month to get into the game and then everyone starts fresh because of Cataclysm. I wouldn't do Maplestory because WoW just seems so much more fun...there is a lot of shit to do in WoW, even if it just talking in trade chat. lol
Also, when I played WoW a lot (a few years ago), I had an urge to play a serious game. Well now I got Starcraft 2 and WoW so I switch to whatever game I feel. =)
If you need someone to play WoW with, my friends and I are on Thunderlord (PvP) Alliance. Some are on Horde to, so we occasionally have ganking wars. lol PM me for more info if you're interested. They aren't tryhards at all (I put effort in min/maxing, but that is just me), and we normally have enough to set up our own 10 mans with only a few pugs.

lol damn the only TL guy willing to play maplestory with me is from canada and obviously im EU

i fucking hate realm lock blizzard activision can srsly suck my cock

When I read the blog title I thought this was going to be about fapping.

I'm pretty much the same as you. I started out playing Starcraft 2 and getting really into it and wanted to get good at it, but I really can't stay interested in something unless I have people I like to play with on a regular basis otherwise I just fall out of line and stop caring. So eventually I've dropped from diamond -> platinum -> gold because I just get so bored and do heaps of stupid shit/make lots of mistakes. I don't neccesarily want to just fuck around, but having just 1 or 2 people you actually like = 300% better results, at least in my case.
Good times.

Don't tell anyone, but sometimes it's sweeter being the shark in a gold fish pond than a fish in the big sea.

Yo I think you mean koi pond goldfish live in bowls.

Yeah, none of my real life friends play starcraft 2, which makes it really hard to progress and get better, still having a hard time getting into platinum league. Use to play Runescape and had alot of good times just doin nothing on there, what a change starcraft 2 is from that though. I wish i could have...fun...on starcraft 2, you know what i mean? i just need some damn friends to play with on here

You should try Blood Bowl. We got a TL league going on right now that's a lot of fun. We stream the games, get on Vent or skype to chat with each other, and nobody really cares about winning (just killing each other's players). It's kind of like playing Madden NFL, except it's turn based, you can kill the guys on the other team, and there are hilarious random occurrences. It's very non-competitive, and even the worst player can win games by sheer luck, so everyone knows not to take it too seriously. And it's turn based so it's not hectic or stressful.

"There are actually two types of pond fish that many people choose from for pond fishtheir ponds. These two popular choices are gold fish and koi fish. Both types of fish can adapt well to a pond and are also long lived. Many pond owners have their own preferences when choosing the kind of pond fish they want."

I've played games just about as much as anyone around my age and I can tell you this is just a stage. I've been at that stage before and I hope you don't take offense to this but you quickly become a player who hates the stage you're in or forever stays in it.
My group of friends I've played games with over the years have remained the same, yet we've almost come full circle and all play different games now. We had huge stints in cs 1.5, 1.6, source, war 3, dota, ro, and all sorts of small games in between. There becomes a shift between the people who want to play casually or who simply don't care or put in the effort to become competitive at a game, and then there are the others who can't look at a game the same way once they taste competitive play. It's not that winning is the only thing its just that you aspire to play at a higher level and its simply not possible for people who don't try.
My advice is just stick to your gut and play what you want, even if you have to find it in a unique way. For me, there were a few times where I coulda given up playing with my group of friends to play with higher level people and dominate more than I was used to but I decided it wasn't worth it. Nowadays I'm kinda content with sc2 or diablo 3 being the ' end ' of my serious gaming.
