Hey guys, not sure if anyone is particularly interested, but I was incredibly lucky and managed to land a job as an MLG ref for the PC division. It was pretty much the best weekend job imaginable (I really have nothing but glowing praise for MLG), like paid vacation where my only work was to watch SC2 (and WoW) and help out.
I got to meet and speak with all the players, the MLG crew, and had the best seat in the house for watching all the games I want. And I really owe it all to the TL community, because without you guys I wouldn't even be able to go to an MLG event, let alone be paid to do it.
I want to give back somehow, and until I have a nice camera in Dallas (which I will have!) the best I can think of is offering to answer any questions you guys may have, be it how Day 9 or some of the players act in person, questions about the event, the games, players, anything, feel free to ask.
I'll try to answer all your questions (and may even try to do some by video to test out my new camera). I'd also be happy to take any suggestions as to what you guys want to see when I have my camera in Dallas.

Also, did they enforce the no PS2 keyboards this time, what did the players that are sponsored by steels series use

I'd also like to know this. And why aren't you putting it up at the event, like a screen for the audience to keep track of the progress of the tourney.

Offtopic: No. After I got tired of reading shitty comments in the chat, I said I would never stream again, and I don't often break my word.

nice of to share a bit of your referee experience my questions: are referee specialized in only 1 game at the MLG, or do you have to be able to ref for all game like tekken, sc2, etc

and how many of you were there during the event?
There were three of us, plus the admin. We specialize in so far as we do all the pc games (so wow as well).
Guys, just a heads up, made a short video to answer most of the stuff and will be linking in a moment.
No problem guys, if y'all have anymore questions or want to see anything realistic when I'm in Dallas for the next mlg let me know. If nothing else, feel free to say hello to me at the event!
You're awesome man. Really nice of you to do this. You said you're going to have the camera at the next one for whatever. I always really appreciate it when people at events just go around and get a quick "whats up" from all the competitors.
I'll see what I can do. Also a quick disclaimer; I don't mean to imply at any time that I'm speaking for mlg. I'm just a guy who got super lucky and anything I say is my own opinion :D
ah you're the one who came out and always talked to the crowd, you were really friendly ^^ i'm the one who complained to you about no big wall bracket being available at the event to continue putting names to faces, who were the other refs? i remember them as red shirt guy, asian guy with sweatshirt, asian guy without sweatshirt.
Hey man, I totally remember you. I love talking to people in the crowd and stuff, we're basicly the same; just fans. I don't know if I should give out any info about the other refs just because I haven't spoken to them about it to ask permission. But a big shout out to them for being awesome, they really made me feel comfortable on my first event and helped me out a lot. Especially the 'red shirt' guy (he's the head admin), he does an awesome job.
One quick update guys; as far as the brackets go, one of the refs did have brackets so we all weren't in the dark (just me mainly, damn new guy). It was also posted online and updated as quick as we can. Hopefully we can get a more easily accessible one for the fans at the event next time :D
As a referee are you sent to all the events? Or do you just be the referee for individual events. Do they fly you out to every event, or do you just hpapen to live within driving distance of both DC and Raleigh.

Sort of both... I actually competed (if you can call it that; I got rolled hard by SjoW lol) in MLG Raleigh. MLG DC was my first event (I live in Virginia, so both were close). I've been asked to go to MLG Dallas, which is not close, so they don't just grab people who are nearby. I'm really hoping I get to keep coming back.
The other ref's have been doing it for years though.
