And thankfully so. It's not an aspiring photographer's favourite season.

I found this on my HDD, I know I took it because I recognize the place, it's near my home, but I literally have no recollection of this photo. It's not anything spectacular, I guess it's mostly about the colours

I'm awful with portraits as a rule of thumb, and even if I get a lucky shot now and then, I'm absolutely confused as to how or if I should edit one. Therefore I'll greatly appreciate feedback on this

Is that first one a raw photo? My spidey sense says that the contrast was fiddled with.

Hi.

I very much enjoy it when people are modest about their skill and work. That first picture was extreamly beutiful and well taken, I hope you keep with it and I hope to see more works of art from the fall/winter period. ^_^

The first one's a HDR, meaning high dynamic range, meaning it's composed out of several shots of the identical scene with different exposures (5 shots in this case). This is only doable with a tripod.

Also - open image in new tab, it doesn't show it's full width here (at least in my browser). The reason I'm being modest is because even though the colours are decent and the clouds are good, it lacks a strong composition, or any resemblance of a compelling subject.

If you work with hdr can you make areas sharper? imho the first (awesome) pic would look even better if the gras would be less blurry. perhabs a bit sharper contrast in general. The tree with the pink leaves would look soo good if it seemed more plastic i.e. higher contrast and even longer exposure of it.

The tricky part about HDRs is that while I took the 5 shots, certain things like grass/water waves move (if there's wind), creating a slight ripple effect. So in consequence it won't always look sharp, no matter what post processing one does.

That's precisely why HDR is pointless in most situations no matter what geeks do say, besides, HDR is very ugly.

About your portrait :

white balance is off, contrasts are bad, light was fugly (not "your" fault)

woman is out of focus and her leg is pretty big and the background vegetation makes an ugly bokeh

her semi bowed head should've been upper center of the picture and the fat leg out of it (especially as her body is rather thin while her looks oversized)

also if you make your model look down make sure her face is orientated so that the eyesight doesn't look turning back.

also her leggins conflict very big time with her skin tone again because of the size of the leg bla bla bla

also if you plan on showing off the chest of a woman you have to becareful with the size of the chest, in your picture her chest appears oversized compared to her tiny head.

well that's what I could think about right now

Thanks a lot for the feedback, as I said, I'm not really experienced with portraits, and I was thinking of removing this photo altogether. I was pretty sure the white balance was off. I had a thought about the leggins, wasn't too sure.

I guess it's kinda common sense to have the eyes a little more clearly visible, hadn't considered that.

Thanks again!
