Edit 20101103: So when I posted this thread +pics I didn't really expect it to spiral onto 中視 and other TV stations in TW... and like a TLer said, this thread has now officially reached international creeper status...
Linda, if this thread is causing you discomfort, I apologize and would be more than happy to edit out everything (just let me know... but I have a feeling that you have no problem with it anyway lol).
By the way, you look hot in these pictures.

So this female Taiwanese singer/actor apparently plays SC2. Her Alias is "Pikachu" and is ranked #1 in her 2v2 Platinum league with "BamBooShoot" on Asia server.
Oh right, her name is Linda. And I almost forgot... she lived in Canada for a while and she played BW... for all we know she might actually check this site lol~
Apparently in the casted game she was just learning SC2 and was building her stuff like back in BW. She also didn't know about the existence of the Warp Gate research.

sorry lol @.@
if an admin sees this can you add that in the title?
heh...the pictures don't load for me. I'm guessing because it's a regional thing?
But on topic: It's pretty awesome to see celebreties and other famous people play games like Starcraft because it kind of makes us feel like they are more like us, and not make us feel that they're different in a million ways.
Reading this blog make me feel sad. All the link in this blog are blocked in China. I am not using my computer to surf the web today, I have a VPN on my comp to surpass the block...but still this is sad. Will check this out later when get home
apparently she took the time off her busy filming schedule to compete in the 1v1 ESL SC2 female gaming cup #2 and got 1st place.
So very impressive for someone who started playing SC2 not long ago (but is apparently very addicted) and also has such a busy schedule beside gaming. She is quad diamond now and rank 1 in 1v1 on her ladder.
I don't know mandarin so I can't translate, but I see words like "linda" so I'm guessing it's her?
it is.
Apparently she is also from a incredibly rich family. Her dad owns 14 movie theaters throughout Taiwan and her three brothers are CEOs of various companies. Her dad has a title "Taiwan's King of Cinema."
She's been playing video games for 10 years. SC2 for 3 months. Her record is not sleeping for 4 days just to play SC2 with her busy singing/filming schedule.
The ESL tournament took place at 1 AM her time and lasted 4 hours.
Throughout the tournament, the mics are required to be on at all times and the moderators will speak to the players throughout the game and the players have to respond, confirming they are indeed female or something like that.
Just a quick summary of that news report for any of those that's interested.

Well, it's a matter of taste.. she's not super hot, but most ppl would prolly hit it.. you included. But you're right about one thing - she does play sc2.. that is a turn off, indeed. I wouldn't say it's a deal-breaker though.
EDIT: And how is this nsfw? Unless you meant that she's playing a game, that is.

It's probably because of the pics in the OP, while she's just in a bikini, I can see people not wanting to open that at work/school/etc.

Linda basically says she's just a player like everyone else and that her celebrity status shouldn't change the fact that she's just another player. She finds it embarrassing (in a shy way) that she's not able to see anyone through SC2 but everyone can see her in her lingerie.

LOOL!!! It's ok, the world champion deserves her own thread ^__^
basically she won an sc2 contest, became known for her gaming on an american forum (TL) and that we (OP) somehow managed to find her old bikini pics and she feels embarrassed because she doesnt get to see us behind the computer while we all saw her whole body lol.

Well we could all put on bikinis and make a picture thread (disclaimer: this is a joke, I don't want to be responsible for this actually happening) Though I do sort of feel like the team liquid community is doing her a favour by not revealing themselves..

lmao, translation of the news video? (at least what she was saying). Btw photoshop made her look so cute and hot in the OP pics, but she looks just ok in the video.

Linda Liao is a singer/tv host from Taiwan and she has been playing games for around 10 years. On the day of the tournament, after finishing some filming she immediately went back to her office to play in the SC2 Goes Female #2 Competition. Due to the competitors mainly playing from Europe, the time zone difference meant she had to get ready to play in the tournament at 2am and she played for four hours straight before achieving first place. She hasn't slept for 48 hours because although she had 2 hours before work started the next morning, she was too excited over her win. She came first out of 28 female SC2 gamers representing their respective countries. Since the tournament was a female-only competition, the competition instigated a rule in which competitors must keep their microphones on the whole time. The admins would every so often speak to the competitors and they must talk back through the microphone to verify there wasn't a guy playing for them. When they weren't talking to Linda, she said it was interesting listening to the German and Czech languages. Also, her record for not sleeping and playing games was four days straight.
Oh also after checking out her Facebook page, she actually reached Diamond in all leagues and was satisfied after reaching first rank in her division but I think she then did not continue to play as much to hold on to her rank so she's slid down the rankings but she has the highest win %, I think it is around the low 60s. Plus I think she plays Toss.
lol the thing about having to have a girl speak randomly through a mic is not a good system to make sure it's a girl. My friend had a faux wow account called 'Katie' where he was in a guild and pretended to be a female to get more free shit and help from the guildmates. After a while of hanging out on their vent and tellin her to get a mic instead of just listening I think someone actually send 15$ on paypal so she could get a mic. He got the mic and just had his sister say; hi, im shy, etc. and just never talked anymore unless his sister was around and he had her say a few things.
from the videos for the entire game she didn't even get warpgates, although good for a girl, skillwise not very impressive at all nothing compared to tossgirl
I am sure she is fine with the thread, hard to think she has an issue with nerds seeing her in a bikini that while her twitter profile pic is her without any clothing on. Oh and grats on diamond league Linda.

that video is old and from when she first started playing sc2. since she was a BW player, she didn't know about the whole warpgate deal.
if you d/l replays from the ESL tournament, she does use warpgate. She's not "pro" status by any means compared to the "named," but she's definitely a decent diamond player, and apparently, a female world champion.
Wow this is hilarious ahahahaa. Still, she doesn't sleep much 48 hours w/o sleep before the tournament, a record of 4 days in a row. That's just crazy ..
