Kabuto has neat fights and flashy effects but the last third of the show didn't make any sense at all, from a story perspective. Kagami is a really likable guy though, until one of his final decisions on who to trust is pretty "huh?". Faiz is good overall but most of the characters behave in an idiotic manner one way or another. Some people consider Den-O to be humorous and comedic, but I rather disliked it. Kiva's kind of meh - the "parallel stories" means there's no suspense at all and the time traveling near the end is "WTF?". Decade is all fanservice but the story is terrible. They didn't even give the series a proper ending. I might start put together a more fleshed out OP for all things Kamen Rider when I have some free time - but at this rate it won't be any time soon. | ||

I agree with what you said about Blade, but it lacks comedy to me. Double is really good, too bad that it has to end like that. Kagami is easily manipulated due to his nature of being a "real good guy", if you can convince him that you're helping humanity then he's on your side. But the arc with Tsurugi(I laugh at Tsurugi everytime for saying his name, but that's probably just me) Den-O is really for kids(yes, I do realize that KR are for kids). I find the Imagin to be amusing at times. Kiva's story was wtf to me the whole way. Decade is just for flashy showing of older Riders. The last 3rd of Kabuto didn't make sense to you after the movie? I kinda got it after watching the movie then watch the series again. | ||

+ Show Spoiler + Okay for a first episode, somewhat surprisingly similar plot element to Den-O - monsters form partially because of ordinary people's desires. And a random weak bum becoming the rider due to being in the right place at the right time, again. But since the writers on OOO's are the same as the Den-O ones, a bit less surprising. Chomping on the lady's hand was suitably creepy. I'll watch a few more episodes before making a decision, I hope it doesn't have the same pitfalls as Den-O does. Of course some of Den-O's problems did arise from a key actress leaving mid-show so hopefully that won't happen here. My beef with the the last third of Kabuto is basically it doesn't follow naturally from everything before. I really value consistency in a story's universe - in character actions and motivations, in the world's rules of nature, technology, and so on. Actually I rather enjoyed the Kabuto movie. + Show Spoiler [Comments on Kabuto's last third] + So Hyper Kabuto appears on the show (before Tendou gets the Hyper Zecter) and it's implied that Hyper Kabuto can time travel. When Tendou gets it, he does time travel right away to save Kagami. But after that the capability is never seen again, even though there are plenty of times it would make sense for Hyper Kabuto to find it useful. And all the out of nowhere nonsensical plot twists, and side plot arcs that really are meaningless. Oh hey those character(s) really were Native worms. The super secret plan, even with Kagami's name written down years before he was born...turned out to be what? Oh look that suitably menacing dude suddenly commits and becomes a worm at the very end of the show. Hey Dark Kabuto is a threat! No he's not, I'll just become Hyper Kabuto! Kagami: "Even though Tendou has been right about everything, I definitely don't trust that he's shooting up those necklaces - I've got to kill him!" Tendou is an arrogant ass who actually is shown to be not that aware of things around him and just lives by luck. Honestly I could go on and on. I really do like Kabuto's fights though. And the idea that the main rider must train in order to fight well, and not magically learn how to fight once he transforms. And the music, too. | ||

Happy Birthday fight montage for introducing our primary villains. It's great to see Ryosuke Miura challenging himself with dual roles that have very clashing personalities. We've already nicknamed the lead rider Bimbo-san since he is kind of dorky so far. 'yes, I do realize that KR are for kids' I don't really agree with this. When you consider the fundamental differences between Super Sentai series and Kamen Rider the latter definitely seems to be targeted more towards an older market. For example: Super Sentai Series (Toei only, so I'm not classing things like Tomica's Rescue Force/Fire or Armor Heroes as Sentai.): + Standard plot format each week - Monster of the week. + Less character development imo. + Less complicated themes. + No genuine deaths (for example; + Show Spoiler + Sosuke's 'death' in Engine Sentai Go Onger + Less subtext (aka. Limited focus given to romantic elements.) + Far more merchandizing potential in terms of toys (aka. Mecha, weapons etc.) Kamen Rider: + Less 'stand-alone' episodes and more plot arcs. + Far more character development. (This is dependant upon individual characters.) + More complicated plots. + Genuine death scenes, violence and subtext. + 90% of the high-end expensive merchandize produced for Tokusatsu is related to Kamen Rider. This is obviously just a very quick over-view, but considering how dark certain series can be (Kabuto especially.) I still maintain that the core audience for Kamen Rider is teen-adult fans. Whereas Sentai is aimed more towards children. | ||

And Double (and Decade before it) has been "monster every 2 weeks" and 2-episode plot arcs, which was one of my biggest peeves with it. Double had pretty much no permanent deaths - I remember a few bystanders dying to the "Yesterday" dopant but nobody else comes to mind. | ||
