For example, there is work being done on vehicles where the skin is essentially one giant screen that plays a video of what's on the other side (obviously more complicated than that, but as an example). Therefore, nothing needs to change on the inside of the vehicle, the outside skin takes care of all of it. That's kinda irrelevant. It's pretty simple science that something that is invisible (basically transparent) means that light goes through it, and doesn't get absorbed (if it did then the thing would be black). I guess you could bring in camoflauge, where the vehicle changes its color to be exactly like its outside environment, but that sounds ridiculously complex for a flying vehicle, even with sc2 technology.

The difference is that moving your arms when you walk increases the efficiency of your body. Flapping your wings in space would be useless. I bet mutas just fart to propel themselves

Maybe for something to be actually invisible you need it to pass through you, but for something to look invisible, you just need to make it look like the light is passing through you. For instance, by projecting the same image that you expect to see. That would also explain why you see a "ripple" in sc2 when it moves, the software isn't quite fast enough to keep up with a changing background, but can be pretty perfect when it's still. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_camouflage Not only is it definitely possible with sc2 technology, it's even probably feasible in the foreseeable future for us. OLED's let you put flexible screens on all kinds of surfaces, and then you basically need a set of cameras and a lot of software to interpret and project the images. They've already done similar tests using mounted projectors, which are obviously less reliable, but they are some pretty cool tests (google invisibility cloak).
