So I had a weird dream last night. It was one of the more unusual ones I've had in my lifetime (the dreams that I remember are pretty short and sweet/horrific/boring/etc..) but this one was long and had a lot of shit packed into it. But here goes:
(Many historical inaccuracies, I know. I'm not a moron. It's a dream so yeah.)
The setting of the dream is WWII when Hitler's reign was at its peak. He had conquered pretty much all of Europe (even Switzerland and Britain). As for me, I was a captured POW from the USA. Nazis kept us (POWs) in an underground hole as a cell (like LOST). Now I don't remember how the dream began; however, I do remember that all the POWs from every nation that the Nazi's had found were kept in confinement separately. So POWs from France were in their own hole as were Spain, Belgium, etc... And I wasn't alone, there were fellow USA POWs that were with me. That's how the dream began.
Now, the Nazis also kept in confinement the Jews that they had found in every nation as well; however, the confinement was in separate gray cement buildings for each nation. So the Jews of Germany had their own building as did the Jews of the other countries. There was no Auswitch, and they weren't arbitrarily exterminated. They were just housed in these big gray cement buildings. I just kind of knew this to be the fact when the dream began.
Now to move along. So all of us POWs in the cell weren't doing anything, we just kind of sat there waiting for something. I wasn't entirely sure at first what we were waiting for, so I just sat there as well. It was more of a 3rd person view as I saw all of us at once just sitting and waiting. We all had our metal helmets still, so we used our helmets as little seats and sat and waited... Then I suddenly realized what we were waiting for.
The Nazis had a plan for the extermination of Jews; however, it would be decided by us POWs. Each of the POWs from each nation were to be put into soccer teams and we would play a match against each other. The country of the losing POWs would have their respective country's Jews exterminated, while the winning POWs country Jews would survive until the next game. It was set as a tournament, so that the winning POWs could save the Jews of their country.
In order to practice for this game, the Nazis let all of us out of our cell and allowed us to practice in freedom in an open field. There were no guards, there was no fence, there was no security. We could run without consequence...so we did. We ran along the countryside, not knowing where we were headed, but just away from the field. As we ran away, we ran through battlefield after battlefield where there'd be the Nazi's against the Allies fighting. We would run in between, without getting shot, and see all death and destruction. We never got hit, we just kept running, but we saw everything.
Then the dream cut to a shot of the field. The Nazis had just discovered that we had jumped ship. One Nazi ran from the field towards the direction we had gone and fired his ak as he went over a hill. He emptied an entire clip but didn't reload since he realized we were long gone.
While we were running away, some of us began to cry. We stopped running and tears started to go down our face. I guess it was the realization that we had abandoned the Jews we were supposed to protect for our own safety. So suddenly we started to walk back towards the field. While we were walking back; however, we had picked up some guns that was the aftermath of some battle. I had some chaingun and others had assault rifles and such.
Now the battles we had gone through while we had run away, we had to face again when we returned. But instead of watching the battles, we were now taking part in them. Actually we were now the Nazis fighting the Allies. There were no other soldiers from the Nazi army to support us, it was just us POWs against hundreds of allies. However, we thought about the Jews so we killed many Allies on our way back without any casualties on our part. That was a prolonged segment of the dream which took quite a bit of time.
When we returned, we went back to our confinement instead of the field. We didn't sit on our helmets though, we just kinda hung out. One of the Nazis blindfired into the cell for some reason, but none of us got hit. So now that they found us we could play our game.
That's when I woke up and went "wtf"?

I honestly don't think dreams have any reflection on reality. Sometimes I'll realize upon waking that my dream had a tangential connection to something I was thinking about the day before, but as a whole, I'm hard pressed to find any connection.
As an aside, I keep a dream journal that I write in every time I remember my dreams, and I encourage everyone else to do the same. It's a great feeling reading back over old entries and being like "oh yeah! I remember that!"
Oh, and here's an online copy of mine  ...it's updated every day haha. Sorry for hijacking your thread!

Really? Most of my dreams (at least the ones I remember...most nights are dream-empty) have some kind of relation to my life. It's always about my future, friends, or just nailing some girl. Nightmares don't really happen anymore, but the ones that I had always followed when I was apprehensive about something in my life. For someone who dreams as simply as I do, that's why I was surprised.

Now if you normally dream about fucking pigeons 300 ft. in the air, well then my dream might actually look pretty mediocre.

I am a psychologist with a masters degree from the University of Portland. I just scanned over it briefly, but here's my expert analysis:
The setting of the dream is an oppressive environment, similar to the environment a homosexual feels when his peers and social group put out societal pressure against homosexuals. The Jews and the POWs are open gays and closeted gays. The "underground hole" represents the sex in the butt, where you sit on your metal hat. There are two other guys in your cell, representing desires for a threesome among other men. The soccer game is you coming out of the closet, after running through the fire that the Nazis (your family and friends, who are against gays) blast you with and coming out the other side unscathed. You cry because you lost your anal virginity and it will never come back, but after realizing you had to band together with the rest of the open gays, you acquired weapons from your conviction and went back to fight for gay marriage. The prolonged segment was the legal battle you faced trying to legalize gay marriage. Finally, when it was all over, you went back to sex in the butt.

You know...I gotta say that if a psychologist (I mean an actual one) was to analyze your analysis of my dream, I think the heavy "homosexual theme" you seem so convinced to focus upon might say something about yourself.
