Partial brag blog as it will be interpreted that way, too lazy to add in a baller brag application so someone else do it for me.
School term just ended, which means co-op term is here.
After months of gruesome job search, I was blessed with a streak of luck this week, currently at:
2 Offers, Job A and B. Must respond by tomorrow, cannot withdraw my acceptance of the offer once a decision is made.
2 potential offers pending, Job C and D. Will know by this Friday.
Job A > B, better wages, better location, easy choice here. However job C and D both >>> A, in terms of wages, reputation, and location ($20/18 vs $14 per hour, LG Electronics/Microsoft Canada vs some shitty marketing company, and downtown Toronto vs. Waterloo).
I'd say I did really well in Job interview C, so maybe 75% chance of getting an offer at the end of the week. Probably 50% for Job D.
So potential outcomes:
1. Accept offer Job A, but no offers for C and D at the end of this week. Whew, good thing I took the Job (7/10 happiness).
2. Accept offer Job A, also offers from C and D at the end of this week. Shit, should have rejected A and waited (4/10 happiness).
3. Reject offer Job A, but receive offers from C and D at the end of this week. Fuck yah, I pwn (10/10 happiness).
4. Reject offer Job A, but no offers for C and D at the end of this week. FML, I fucked up hard (0/10 happiness).
Ugh, my greedy nature is having an epic BO5 with my desire for safety right now. I know any sane person in this state of the economy would probably pick option 1/2, but I'm a baller wanna-be, so I'm going to gamble it option 3/4.
Whether I'll be a baller or a failnoob shall be revealed this Friday. Wish me luck TL.

theres no sense in a company not letting you give them your decision on a friday instead of a thursday. thats ridiculous :| gl though.

I don't believe anything you write.

Thanks, you don't believe anything anyone writes in the blog section without a replay.
It's okay, interwebs skepticism is good. I'm just here to brag/get internet attention, you're not the only poster on TL.
Thanks again.

Based on your probabilities the probability of getting a job from at least one of C or D is 87.5 percent.
Weighted happiness of accepting A: .125(7) + .875(4) = 4.375
Weighted happiness of declining A: .125(0) + .875(10) = 8.75
the choice is clear

Contact company A and give them your situation. If they are a company worth working for they will give you an extension.

Seconded. Best course of action seems to be to try to talk to these guys and ask for one more day to give them a decision, then see if you can get either of the other jobs.
And why so mean, Chill?

Chill has spoken, this blog is therefore invalid. on a serious note see if you can get an extension on replying to job A if not wait for c/d anyway, thats what i would do anyway. He who dares wins

I've read too many of your blogs, and I must say that I agree with him ._.
You don't have to be "just here to brag/get internet attention"; there are lots of other things that you can do. Contributing to the community and discussing various topics in the General thread comes to mind. I don't see what we can do for you outside of:
A) OMGOMGSOSEXEH! I give in to your need of attention!
or
B) I don't believe you.
I don't want to blatantly denigrate you, but there are lots of things to do that don't entail posting an occasional brag blog and receiving flames for doing so. Just have some fun in other places on TL! ^^

That doesn't look very believable to be honest.

lol @ being unable to quit a job once accepted. Job A = military? Or this blog = bull shit?
Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story, but this isn't very plausible nor is it a good story =/

University job search system dictates one must attend every interview granted, and disallows accepting new offers once an offer has been accepted. Failure to comply results in a ban from the system in future terms.
Attend any co-op university here in Canada and rules will be mostly similar.

Get real with the real world. Labour supply far surpasses labour demand. What you say about Job A isn't far from the truth for 99% of students.

Job with greatest pay and / or greatest opportunity for upward mobility is what I would pick.
|
meh, i can believe it. searching for a co-op job in waterloo for example has some dumb restrictions not unlike those outlined in the op. to be brutally honest, all of those jobs sound like shit (a microsoft job paying $18? what are you doing, QA?) so it's not like you'll find your dream job here, and the pay difference is minimal.
