Ill keep it short
Basically, my paypal acc went under investigation and so a payment i made to steam got held tempeoarily
I sent documents to prove my identity, and then paypal CLOSED THE CASE AND REVERSED THE FUNDS TO ME
After talking with steam, basically this is the response
" Hello, The purchase of Supreme Commander 2 has been disputed by Paypal. The Paypal account holder will need to close the dispute and have the funds returned to Steam. If the account holder is unable or unwilling to drop the dispute and let the PayPal know that the purchase is valid, and in turn have the funds returned to Steam, we will not be able to reactivate the account. All games on your account are locked to the account and can not be transferred to a different account. A different payment method can not be used for this game; the money must be returned by the PayPal account that made the original purchase. If the dispute is closed and the funds are released back to Steam, the account will be reactivated. However if PayPal closes the dispute by “Reversing the Payment”, meaning they send the funds for the purchase back to you, the Steam account will remain locked and you will lose access to all of the games on the account. There are no options to resolve a dispute once PayPal has closed the case, so we suggest that you contact them immediately. PayPal Help Center https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_help-ext Please let us know if you have any further questions. We are not able to do anything further with your account while a PayPal dispute is still pending, please remedy this issue with PayPal before asking for the account to be reactivated. "
So im boned
Pretty much im sure this is just an adminstration thing, does anyone know any steam employees or someone i could talk to to get this resolved?
Ofc i am willing to pay the money, i have plenty of money and the steam account is worth hundreds of $, and it is not my fault that paypal for some reason decided to reverse the transaction instead of paying it fully like they should have
I think my only recourse now is to find a kind steam employee who i can talk to to arrange a payment so i can recover it But where will i find that :<
Any help or suggestions by anyone would be great right now

That's a problem with PayPal. It's their fault. :x

Ouch. Paypal sucks in general, but I'm really surprised that's the response you get from Valve.

Talk to paypal again and show them the reply you got from Steam and see if they can do something on their end to reopen the dispute and close it properly this time.

I think the only recourse i have is getting in touch with someone who has a bit of personal power and can help pull some strings
Its not like i dont want to payh back, but i do want my steam account back...

You should be contacting PayPal and they should be getting their ass in gear. Theres always a way for them to fix their mistake, and if they don't, let them know you will be filing a claim against them for the cost of all your steam games.

that's what you get for buying supcom 2 i guess
bummer :\

I contacted paypal and steam but i dont think theres anything i can do Once the case is closed thats it i think

I don't understand your defeatist attitude. Steam is right to lock your account, because Paypal took your money back from them. This is Paypal's problem, not Steam's - if you really want your games back, you'll get on Paypal's case until they fix it. And they CAN fix it.
|
Maybe it is something wrong with paypal, but the people at steam must have seen this case a bazillion times already, so ask them for how to tackle this with paypal. Maybe they'll give a hint on proper procedure.

Agree with everyone else. I've never encountered such an issue because I don't use Steam, but after reading what you said happened and Steam's response, it's definitely Paypal being an ass. It's them you want to talk to.

I had the same problem as you about five years ago. It took many calls to Paypal (and I live in New Zealand so it cost me a pretty penny) before they finally reversed their decision but they did do it, so it's possible. If you want your Steam account back you'll just have to keep at them until they cave.
|
That's a terrible response on both ends. I'd just keep sending emails to both, and try calling up Paypal. I think it's a bullshit move by Steam to lock your account and not accept any other payment method, though.

That really sucks :/ Don't think there is much you can do about it though. Steam is a piece of shit when it comes to this and so is paypal. I have quite a few games on my steam account but only cheap ones. You should probably instead try and see what legal options you have, I mean clearly paypal is one of steams selected payment options and if they don't deliver it's not your fault.

Paypal probably made a mistake.
First, figure out what the Steam guys want. Do they need the money, or do they need the money through that specific Paypal transaction? If it's not acceptable to somehow otherwise wire them money, ask them why it's not - are they colluding with Paypal?
Now, if it does turn out that for some bizarre reason that you agree with, you just have to resolve this on Paypal's end, go grab their attention and explain to them exactly what you need, very clearly, and explain why you need it, to make it clear that your requirements are exact and should not be altered.
Getting wetware customer support's attention will be the hardest part. Good luck.

Another idea is to contact a consumer organization in your country. They always have ears for such stories of customer mistreatment.

Basicallly, steam need the money through that exact transaction so im gonna bug paypal till they reverse it and put the payment through
gonna call them probably
