My question: Does playing a multitasking game like this improve your StarCraft ability if your multitasking in SC is a weakness, or does it only make you better at multitasking with those specific skills and situations that appear in the Multitask game? Basically does it teach you some underlying brain usage that can be generalized, or is the learning that happens in your brain just centered on recognizing specific signals?
What do you think?
Also once the purple level comes in I die immediately in discussing this game.
As a second part, I remember in a Day9 daily someone asked what to do when beta is down and one of the things he said is play minesweeper. Is that kind of learning that happens in minesweeper that allows you get faster and faster at it and the transition of that fast accurate clicking to SC a similar process with similar value as that of the multitask game to SC multitasking? Or does something make the situation different.
I just picked up minesweeper again today too, but I set my best times 32 inter and 91 expert like 3 years ago and haven't beaten 120 expert in the past 2 years. I wonder how long it'll take/if I can get back that.
My sister is a freaking whiz she's got 22/75 best scores. (we never play beginner)
An interesting thing I just noted about coming back to Minesweeper: It stays exactly the same. I know when I've matched my previous level or surpassed it. If I were coming back to StarCraft after a break, I could surpass my previous level and win less, because of the evolution of the game and other players.
