looking for recommendations for a mouse pad, i've been using a cheap cloth mouse pads that comes with the laptop i bought years ago, the thing is that my hands and palms sweats alot when playing games which deteriorates the mouse pad quickly over time, now its just annoying that the bottom half of my mouse pad basically fell apart...
i've been looking around gaming mouse pads and just wondering should i be getting cloth or plastic mouse pads this time, does gaming cloth mouse pad by gaming gear companies such as Razers or Steelseries, able to withstand wet conditions without deteriorating?
i could simply just go for plastic mouse pads, but they comes at a pretty hefty price of around £20, which is around 30-40 dollars i think, which i think is way too much and would like to avoid that. could anyone with similar palm/hand sweating share their experiences with a mouse pad and gives some suggestion on what sort of mouse pad i should be getting? actually i don mind fork out a bit as long as the product last long and high in quality, but trying to get the highest bang for bucks for a product.
edite: people who recommends cloth mouse pads, do your hands sweat during gaming sessions?

I made the switch from cheap foam/plastic mouse pads to a more higher-end and gaming-grade Razer eXactmat. It's made of anodized aluminum and has two surfaces. I perfer the control side, but my mouse (Logitech Mini Optical) glides very smoothly on both sides. A big plus is the anodized aluminum surface is easy to clean and is extremely durable and won't break. The mousing surface is also spacious and comes with an optional wrist wrest (which I don't use). I'd say my eXactmat was definitely worth its price (~$35) and it's the only Razer product I've been truly happy with.

Razer mantis
I have it and it's great ! but I can't find it on their site anymore, guess they stopped making it. I know some w3 pros used it

Func 1030 Rough is the best mouse pad I have ever had. I have tried steelseries qck, icemat, xactmat, and the func. Would never try another I don't think.

yea i've looked at this actually, but again is it capable of withstanding constant wet conditions with my palm sweats for a long time?

I have the QcK also, I got the smaller version and it was surprisingly well priced. My hands sweat a bit, but not too bad and it still looks like the day I bought it (got it about a year ago).

If you like hard surfaces (it takes some getting used to from cloth pads) i would recommend Steelseries SX http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/surfaces/sx/information. Its by far the best mouse pad i've ever had. Its true its pretty expensive but i've been using it for ~7 months, on average 8 hours/day and alot of that is gaming, and it looks and feels like brand new. Steelseries says "Lifelong durablity"...probably not, but u'll spend more money on cloth pads replacing them all the time. I had a Razer salmosa with the steelseries mouse feet (which u get with the SX) and its just great.
edit: regarding sweaty hands, it should handle it better then a cloth pad, just make sure u clean the pad on a regular basis.

You shouldn't have to replace name brand cloth pads very often at all, I've owned my DKT pad for ~6 years and its holding up great, and thats with quite a few spilled drinks and many soap/water washes to keep it clean. Other than a faded logo, still looks like new. I've replaced it recently with a razer goliathus speed due to poor tracking with my new mouse (razer abyssus is very picky) but any decent cloth pad will last you a very long time, sweaty hands or not.

Qpad pads are made of cloth covered with plastic. Nice just like a normal cloth pad but they dont deteriorate as fast and are easy to clean not to mention they glide nicely. Using one with a deathadder, works pretty well.

Using the razer sphex, its like a sticker, it never moves once its on, Glides nicely.

Razer Goliathus Control edition here, I like it quite a lot ;]

If u use a cloth pad for 6 years, i can imagine the standards you have, how much u play and how important mouse precision if to you.

my experience with cloth mouse pad is that at the edge of the mouse pad where my hands mostly rest on deteriorates the bonding between the cloth and rubber pieces and shit just went downhill from there...
well actually, do ur palm and hands sweats alot?

I've had a func1030, 5L, QcK+ and an mTw pad. They're all good, but this is my favorite since the mTw pad.

I don't have any way to tell you if my hands sweat 'alot' or just a 'normal' amount. but I can say that I had to replace my death adder due to the smooth sides causing me to have grip issues after playing for awhile due to my hands sweating.
My DKT, and current goliathus are very large pads, and the edges are actually past my wrist when I play, I didnt consider that could be a problem until you mentioned it, though even so, my DKT had many spilled drinks, and I have cleaned it numerous times with soap/water and it hasn't frayed at all.

This is the one i am using right now. I believe it cost me 20 pounds (UK currency, right?). I only use cloth pads because i need it to be soft. This one is perfect. The performance on it is great and after using it for a while you just completely forget about it. The movements just become that easy and the mouse slides over it effOrtlessly.
I believe there were 3 sizes. I took the biggest one which is HUGE. I actually let about 1/4 of it hang from the side of my desk. I've had it for 6 months now i believe and it's only now starting to show just a bit of ripples on the edges. But i move it around and a lot and carry it in plastic bags so that's not a shocker.
I would rate it 9/10. Check it out!

i realise that there are actually alot of great cloth mouse pad in the market, but my main question is....
Will they be able to withstand the Onslaught of my WET HANDS!?!
|
I just realized after reading the posts that THAT is your main issue. I can only say that it seems to be some kind of synthethic cloth which i reckon wouldn't have a problem with moisture. Even cleaning, albeit i haven't tried that yet.
And for the ripple on the edges part: I let a small part of it hang from the side of the desk i where my wrist is so i don't actually damage the edges at all.

I have a Razer Destructor that I won in a contest right here on TL (yay!). Otherwise I'm not the kind of person to invest in a $30+ mousepad.
But I am very satisfied with it. My hands sweat too, but this thing is in great condition and I've had it for 2+ years now. It's really great.
edit: it's not a cloth, but more like a board. Made out of some material to improve mouse speed. And it's really big so I don't ever have to move my mouse back to the center.

i've always used cloth pads before i got my hands on a razer destructor and i love it! mouse glides very well but the one feature i really like on it is the bottom of the pad has a non slip (i think it's rubber) grippy texture so it won't shift around on your desk during game. it comes with a neat travel case if you travel around to lans a lot too
|
Depends on your preference, if you like the cloth texture, go for it. However hard mats from Razer's product line is pretty rough and does wear your mouse feet down quite a bit.
|
I used the eXactmat, it's really nice but it wears down after a while from regular use (I used it with a Razer Salmosa).
Bought a goliathus speed edition afterwards, been treating me great so far.

This would probably handle your sweaty palms well since you can clean it really easily.

the QcK+/QcK are the most durable and consistent mousepads i've used. i've had mine for about 5~ years and it's still in great condition.

so.... how do they fare against sweaty hands?
|
I've been using my func 1030 surface for 8 years now. my hands sweat a lot and it's lasted thus far... though some signs of wear are beginning to show
|
Unless you're using a ball mouse, which needed a mouse pad for griping the ball anyone works pretty well, i just use the cheapest smallest razer one.
|
I just got some cheap cloth mouse pad, seems pretty good
not sure if you really need a gaming surface for playing RTS
|
Get the Barracuda Lite, it's smooth for me though..
|
I use a Titan Everglide (or it could be an Everglide Titan), it's cloth, very large so essentially limitless space for hand movements. I've had it for years, through blood, sweat and beers, it's remained a great mat.
Also, i've never had any problems with wear on mouse feet using it.
|
QCK+! Or the steelseries 5L if you own a laser mouse.
|
Same one that I use, been using it heavily since I got it for Christmas and it's still holding up well.

Looks exactly like a razer exactmat, which is probably the worst mouse pad I have ever used due to its shape and thickness.
|
I have the QcK+ myself. My MX518 loves it.

I see Im not the first one, but it will confirm. I got a Func 1030 and it's fucking awesome.
