o.o I've been using a newspaper as a mouse pad. It works great for my laser logitech mouse.

If you like hard surfaces (it takes some getting used to from cloth pads) i would recommend Steelseries SX http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/surfaces/sx/information.
Its by far the best mouse pad i've ever had. Its true its pretty expensive but i've been using it for ~7 months, on average 8 hours/day and alot of that is gaming, and it looks and feels like brand new. Steelseries says "Lifelong durablity"...probably not, but u'll spend more money on cloth pads replacing them all the time. I had a Razer salmosa with the steelseries mouse feet (which u get with the SX) and its just great.

edit: regarding sweaty hands, it should handle it better then a cloth pad, just make sure u clean the pad on a regular basis.

You shouldn't have to replace name brand cloth pads very often at all, I've owned my DKT pad for ~6 years and its holding up great, and thats with quite a few spilled drinks and many soap/water washes to keep it clean. Other than a faded logo, still looks like new.
I've replaced it recently with a razer goliathus speed due to poor tracking with my new mouse (razer abyssus is very picky) but any decent cloth pad will last you a very long time, sweaty hands or not.

my experience with cloth mouse pad is that at the edge of the mouse pad where my hands mostly rest on deteriorates the bonding between the cloth and rubber pieces and shit just went downhill from there...

well actually, do ur palm and hands sweats alot?

I don't have any way to tell you if my hands sweat 'alot' or just a 'normal' amount. but I can say that I had to replace my death adder due to the smooth sides causing me to have grip issues after playing for awhile due to my hands sweating.

My DKT, and current goliathus are very large pads, and the edges are actually past my wrist when I play, I didnt consider that could be a problem until you mentioned it, though even so, my DKT had many spilled drinks, and I have cleaned it numerous times with soap/water and it hasn't frayed at all.

This is the one i am using right now. I believe it cost me 20 pounds (UK currency, right?).
I only use cloth pads because i need it to be soft. This one is perfect. The performance on it is great and after using it for a while you just completely forget about it. The movements just become that easy and the mouse slides over it effOrtlessly.

I believe there were 3 sizes. I took the biggest one which is HUGE. I actually let about 1/4 of it hang from the side of my desk. I've had it for 6 months now i believe and it's only now starting to show just a bit of ripples on the edges. But i move it around and a lot and carry it in plastic bags so that's not a shocker.

I would rate it 9/10. Check it out!

I just realized after reading the posts that THAT is your main issue. I can only say that it seems to be some kind of synthethic cloth which i reckon wouldn't have a problem with moisture. Even cleaning, albeit i haven't tried that yet.

And for the ripple on the edges part: I let a small part of it hang from the side of the desk i where my wrist is so i don't actually damage the edges at all.

I have a Razer Destructor that I won in a contest right here on TL (yay!). Otherwise I'm not the kind of person to invest in a $30+ mousepad.

But I am very satisfied with it. My hands sweat too, but this thing is in great condition and I've had it for 2+ years now. It's really great.

edit: it's not a cloth, but more like a board. Made out of some material to improve mouse speed. And it's really big so I don't ever have to move my mouse back to the center.

i've always used cloth pads before i got my hands on a razer destructor and i love it! mouse glides very well but the one feature i really like on it is the bottom of the pad has a non slip (i think it's rubber) grippy texture so it won't shift around on your desk during game.
it comes with a neat travel case if you travel around to lans a lot too

Depends on your preference, if you like the cloth texture, go for it. However hard mats from Razer's product line is pretty rough and does wear your mouse feet down quite a bit.

I used the eXactmat, it's really nice but it wears down after a while from regular use (I used it with a Razer Salmosa).

Bought a goliathus speed edition afterwards, been treating me great so far.

Using the razer sphex, its like a sticker, it never moves once its on, Glides nicely.

I also use this, its nice and big, and the best part is that its really thin, like having a piece of paper on your desk. This would probably handle your sweaty palms well since you can clean it really easily.

Unless you're using a ball mouse, which needed a mouse pad for griping the ball anyone works pretty well, i just use the cheapest smallest razer one.

I use a Titan Everglide (or it could be an Everglide Titan), it's cloth, very large so essentially limitless space for hand movements. I've had it for years, through blood, sweat and beers, it's remained a great mat.

Also, i've never had any problems with wear on mouse feet using it.

Same one that I use, been using it heavily since I got it for Christmas and it's still holding up well.
