I didn't think i saw any Blogs or topics on Ib exams this year so this can kinda be like a mini thread on the IB exams that just finished this past month.
All the IB seniors dont have school and are out partying.. (by partying i mean these geeks are getting ready for university)..
Myself, I'm in gr 11 but the language course has to be done in grade 11 so this morning....
i sat my IB exam.
The test wasn't as hard as i thought it would be but since this was our ( grade 11's ) first ib exam...it was more the nervousness that probably got in the way.
Couple thoughts that i had during the test a) i never knew multiple choice was so fucking hard b) what the fuck multiple choice with 7 choices LOL? c) Why do they need to give us 5 pieces of paper for a paragraph of 250 words? d) <3 Effort
... now on to my 5 other exams next year T_T
So any stories you IB tl'ers have on this year's exam please share!

In this situation, im proud to be in regular high school. hated french then and hate french now. btw MC with more than 5 choices is ridiculus
|
I wish i had French exams
btw i got spoiled i think
|
Never did IB, but lol French was the only AP I dodged back in high school. I was in the "French AP" class but there was the option to not take the AP and just do some internal exam instead, and I chose to do that because I hated French D:
Also, if you do Bio in college the MCs are even worse

As a french-canadian, I fully endorse anyone who think French is a language not worth learning. English is so much simplier, there's a couple of exceptions in English but French's grammar is completely retarded and full of useless rules that only exists in an attempt to make the language more "beautiful". A functional grammar that gets shit done like Spanish is much better.

Did IB a couple years back. Which do you have? Chem HL was a bitch :p

i completely agree

Wait OP, you DIDN't take French as a 7th subject? Then why do you have your French exam thins year instead of at the same time as the others (like me next year...) ?
|
He says they have to do the language in grade 11. It really makes no difference for the IB as the external exams are completely sight passage and anyone can write them if they speak french (nothing to do with in-class work, had I known I wouldn't have gone to so many classes over the last 2 years)
I assume you are french SL B. I found all my ib exams really easy this year, and considering I only really studied for math thats surprising. The french exam wasn't difficult, but I don't think it ever is. Hard to get a 7, hard to get a 4. If you are at least semi-intelligent you will land in the 5-6 range and if you are a native speaker that somehow got into SL B then you are in the 7 range.
It's weird that you have to write an IB exam in grade 11, but GL next year they WILL be harder.
@your thoughts I assume you are talking about text 3 with the kids playing soccer or w/e. It's not multiple choice really as you pick 3/5 possible answers that are correct., If you haven't seen these before you should have done more review anyways.
They give you 5 pieces of paper because thats how many your school decided to give you. It's a minimum of 250 words, but since you have an hour and a half you should be writing more. I know I wrote over 400 on mine.

HAhahah what the fuck thats pretty nuts . Well I know this sounds more like an excuse or whatnot but the French teacher i have is a senile old women who cannot teach for her life...seriously all we did in class was play 'password in french' or random orals that she gave no instructions for. It was hopeless. And for the review...again...no review material was given to us. But haha fuck complaining and fuck the exam its over now.
it sounds like you are pretty intelligent and im not surprised cause many on tl are...my brother who was predicted 39/45 also told me that all of his exams except maybe physics paper 2 and math HL were hard...
I think i took a pretty easy workload with geo, history and english as my 3 HLs.
Hope you did well and score well.
Edit: HAhah what the fuck? see ...my french teacher told me that even though its minimum 250 or whatever u shouldnt go past like 300 or whatever so i stuck to like 280~290 words..

As a non-french-Canadian, I disagree. I use French to pick up girls! MuAHAHAHAHHA~~~

Every time I hear a well-spoken French sentence with lots of adjectives, I'm reminded how I think it's absolutely one of the most beautiful languages I've heard. Grammatically, after learning French and German in school, and now learning Czech, I at least think French grammar is the easiest and most logical of the three. English and Norwegian is easier, though, imo.

French canadians dont speak french, they're speaking canadians french.
|
Haha, French B HL was my last IB exam ever.
|
On a serious token, I seriously considered spending considerable time learning French. The grammar (noun cases, tenses, irregular verbs) were very difficult for me, however, and at the end I decided to learn Japanese instead.

IB sucks the only thing i used it for was to prove had english as a second language (spanish being the first).. thats all the rest was for nothing..... have fun with the stress for nothing.. try getting to a good college..... IB dosent do that for you.... and if you are thinking too much on your <IBs you are going the wrong way....
i got a 25 by the way you pass it with 24.... and im in a good college its not that hard to get into one here in argentina anyways..
|

If you have a 25 you generally aren't getting into a good college off academics. I know that in Canada the IB is great if you want to go to prestigious international schools.
