Let me introduce myself. My name is Andrew, I'm 23, Canadian, and I like to play games. I'm pretty unfamiliar with blogging so I suppose I'll briefly outline my past gaming experiences and finish off with why I'm creating this blog. So without further adieu..
I grew up on videogames. I started off with NES, SNES, and then computer games such as Heroes of Might and Magic and Betrayal at Krondor. I really enjoyed these types of games, and specifically the multiplayer competitive aspect of them (Craig Hack anyone?). Anyway, this eventually got me into Chess where I played several dozen local and regional tournaments, and walked away with many trophies and medals.
Eventually, I stopped playing Chess and got into Command and Conquer. I loved the game and played it a lot at a local lan, but it was a pain in the ass to play over modem with friends. Eventually this led me into playing Starcraft, but I don't recall too much besides playing a ton of Hunters/BGH and UMS.
After Starcraft started getting a little stale, I got hooked on the MMO genre. Starting off with Ultima Online, then DAoC, Anarchy Online, and eventually WoW.
My first year of WoW I didn't play too much, but after I hit level 60 I was hooked. I did it all, the honor grind to rank 10 and eventually the pve grind. This eventually led to me GMing a guild to a top10 US horde Kel'thuzad kill. I continued raiding in the following expansion and killed prenerf Muru, and ending TBC with a 4% wipe on Kil'jaeden (Prior to patch 3.00).
This is around the time I picked Starcraft:BW back up. This time around however, I stayed away from the BGH, UMS, and money maps. After a few months of practice on B.NET I eventually made the switch to ICCUP. I had moderate success, most recently hitting a high of B- playing TvZ, ZvP, and ZvT just before the release of SC2.
I decided prior to the release of SC2 to fully play Terran. I've dabbled in Protoss and Zerg (maybe a combined 5-10 games) but I've mostly stuck entirely to playing Terran.
I started off leeching an account of a WoW guildmate during the first beta waves (I used the name Nallaen.Nallaen). I felt really happy with my progress during the first beta wave (Terran were much more uncommon back then).
This is the last screenshot I have of the first beta wipe.
Shortly after the wipe, I sort of fell off the SC2 scene. Initially my video card died and then by the time I got a new card, the account I was sharing had a blizzard authenticator on it.
Fast forward a few weeks and another guildmate was nice enough to give me my very own SC2 key. Now, for the real reason for this (and future) blogs. I've reworked my way back up the ladder, but this time around its rather hard to find quality practice partners.
I've personally tried contacting all the "known" players, and very few are willing to talk at all, let alone play any games. The only player I actually found that was always willing to play games was the Protoss player Win (Thanks!).
Heres a recent screenshot of my current Ladder Ranking (and new ID, Masq.Aftermath).
Anyway, I'm looking for a few players that are interested in practicing builds together. Additionally, I'm looking for a team that is hoping to play in all the various tournaments going on and ideally prepare for clan wars after the retail release.
If you're interested at all, or you're just down for playing some games, feel free to contact me via SC2 or these forums.
Thanks everyone,
Cheers
ps: sorry for the million commas.
