Applying to Medical Schools with AMCAS this cycle?

ItsYoungLee Korea (South)227 Posts May 07 2010 03:05 GMT #1 Anybody applying this year for medical school? I am so nervous... Also taking the MCAT May 27th? Any tips for me for those who have already applied? I guess I'm also excited!

I'm using my summer for 1. summer research 2. volunteering 3. summer jobs Im studying MCATS for at least 6 months before I even consider testing, possibly even one year. If your summer only started recently, studying for about a month almost guarantees failure.

I've thought about waiting until next year and applying to more MD PhD's (since I will have more papers published - some are in review). MCATs I'm not too worried about, I'm satisfied with the AMCAS practice tests I've done. This summer I'm taking summer classes in biology/chemistry since my major is biostatistics, and I want to learn more of the actual physiology-related stuff. Do you go to college in Canada?

SniperVul5 Canada166 Posts May 07 2010 05:34 GMT #4 I can tell you're from America Yes I am from Canada, where colleges --> universities we catagorize by year, not junior or senior (I don't remember what years they represent) I'm only in my first year of university. I just finished and am starting summer research at a medical institute. Getting some volunteering done as well as working full time. I want to become stronger both in academics and extra curriculars first before MCATS. And studying slowly for one year doesn't hurt.
