I think the general problem was a complete lack of understanding what it meant to "nominate". I don't look at it like none of them deserve to have a beta key because everyone on this site would love to have one. It just made me realize I didn't deserve to receive one from TL. Being new I really haven't done anything for members to feel they should give me a key, even though my intentions were to genuinely help the community. I really have a stronger respect for everyone that has been with TL for longer than a few weeks, and I feel like an asshole for staying in it for so long. I hope those of you who have been on here for a while and still do not have a key they give you one at some point before the beta ends.

Also the outcome really never became clear until it was all over. From all the rumors of there being like 30-40 keys actually available was probably the reason why the other 25 stayed in. I spoke with someone through PM that if we were only a few short and we were both still in I was going to drop so he could get a key over myself, but he dropped out a day before.

![]() Im having a great time on battle.net, even though im getting raped in 1v1 me and a german dude is pretty good at raping noobs in 2v2s at Twilight Fortress (i <3 that map, reminds me of the SC1 maps (8)Crystal Castles and (8)Allied Fortress. I have some of my most memorable games on those maps ;D). Now that i have a key i feel really sorry for those who don't as i know what they and i once missed out on, if i wouldn't already have voted for sTY_leZerG-eX to get a key you would have been a definitive contender. I admire your way of not being mad about missing out on such a opportunity ![]()

Yeah, it's been a pretty interesting experience for everyone, but I must say, it's been probably the best I've had so far on this site. I'm pretty new to the TL community, but there's just so much around here that makes me feel excited to contribute! ![]() Overall, I think the opportunity was great, and it was a pretty good bonding experience too. P.S. We better still be up for those 1v1s when the game comes out! ![]()

It was just a fun social science experiment, that's all. I really dont get why people refuse to give it up, you are going to play the game in a couple of months, so why the rush. Maybe not dickish, but misconceived that could be perceived as dickish. Correct me if I'm wrong, Hot_Bid believed everyone in the list should be given an opportunity for redemption (as he states in the last post of this thread here). By this logic, he assumes people who self-nominated did something wrong. Not all of the self-nominators were blatantly undeserving. I wouldn't put Blind, lolaloc, jhNz, Kinky, IndecisivePenguin, zTz, NightOfTheDead in the same company of people who simply registered once to say they nominate themselves without even trying to give a reason. Hot_Bid takes the assumption that nominating yourself means not having made any contribution and so he creates a messed up contest to toy with these people's desires. Many of these people shouldn't have to 'redeem' themselves. They have contributed or at least made an effort trying to sell their potential of contribution. It's not a secret that people are willing to go to great lengths to get a beta. Hot_Bid knows that. Just look at the number of unknowns who came up with fantastic videos in HD's and Husky's contests. This contest however was punishment for self-nominating, a punishment that no one deserved, some less deserving of it than others. Someone brought the example of calling the wrong number and getting yelled at "You stupid a-hole, don't ever dial the wrong number again." That's TL on the other line. Sure, after maybe 100 wrong numbers, TL would be getting pretty annoyed, but that doesn't justify a retort of this kind when directed at reasonable people. Those of you who got chosen for opting-in with Blizzard, wouldn't you have thought them being a dick if they said 'Oh sorry, we don't have enough keys to please everyone so no one's getting any. It's your fault for not opting out until our number of keys equal the number of participants.' Do you even know your competition when you opt-in? Do you even care who might be losing out on an opportunity because you opted in? I'm still opted-into Blizzard and I hope I win. I won't feel guilty for winning if I do, it's not like I can handpick who deserves a key and who doesn't. If someone deserving doesn't get into the beta, I don't see how it's my fault, it's Blizzard's. Anyway, my thoughts. Fun thread to argue in, I feel like a winner for getting to know some of you better, even if we disagree.
