You can appeal the ticket. 2. You never have to pay anything within the first week. 3. You dont have to do anything until you receive the notice from the court, usually 1-3 weeks after the ticket is issued.

Edit: Actually that comes off pretty rude, I don't mean it quite as bad as it probably sounds. More like I've gotten worse so feel better sort of way, and yeah cops are pretty much dicks if they are doing traffic duty. I've yet to see one traffic cop not be a dick, not that I have a lot of experience, but those I have seen are total ass-holes, and I've heard countless stories.

of course, the first thing i see upon stopping my vehicle is the cherries flashing on the first vehicle off the line at the intersection. he came over and after asking the standard questions, (license, insurance, how many drinks, where u goin) told me that some idiot had come by and smashed the sign off the concrete divider with his SUV and he understood why i thought it was the turning lane LOL, he blocked traffic for me as i pulled out, and apparently drove way the hell faster than i did because i saw him standing outside his cruiser with some other idiot pulled over on the street right next to my destination. he smiled and waved ![]()

Sucks dude. But yeah, I haven't had to pay anything in terms of a ticket for at LEAST a month. And even then you can set up a pay plan.. if you can scrounge together 50$ a month you don't need to borrow.

I don't know if he thought I was being condescending or something which at that point I didn't have much of an attitude and wasn't being so I was just really curious because I thought it was weird, after that I just said fuck you in my head and didn't really give a flying mutalisk (although having them handy to snipe his ass woulda been preferred) alright ill look into the payment plan too if I didn't buy new shoes and the new/old pokemon I wouldn't be in this predicament but I don't have future-sight like Noctowl :<

you never know who you're going to get when you get pulled over. think of it as playing zelda when you kick open a treasure chest and you hear the "dun dun dun duuun!" or Christmas, whichever you like. i've probably been pulled over 15x(i blame my vehicle), and only a few of those experiences were very bad, half of them were purely professional, and about 1/3-1/2 were as good as you could possible expect for being pulled over. some of the cops were quite nice. just remember, it pays to be respectful. and it's also a good habit to have.

Imo best reaction is to just sound arrogant as fuck, since the reason they pulled u over is to try to piss you off(in this kind of case), just look at the ticket and chuckle a bit and be like "oh its only x$? haha okay...".

Imo best reaction is to just sound arrogant as fuck, since the reason they pulled u over is to try to piss you off(in this kind of case), just look at the ticket and chuckle a bit and be like "oh its only x$? haha okay...". After being so disrespectful to a cop that pulled him over he's lucky all he got that night was an arrogant response... and the OP probably doesn't realize it. well considering I was completely respectful to the cop until he told me "because I can" Your comment is extremely irrelevant, I actually think its better to be respectful to them so as to not piss them off or maybe they will be nice to you. and under the circumstances it was hard to not be pissed off afterward which could be why I did a "this is gay that is gay" "shit" in the OP (in actuality if you don't count these two that I am using to prove a point you've used it half as much as I have in that post). How about I actually re-summarize it for you so don't completely misinterpret it again -I got on the off ramp into my town where I live after work -A cop in the opposite lane flipped a U-turn in using the on ramp to the freeway and sped up a bit to be close behind me -The cop followed me for a good 8-10 minutes -The Cop turns on his lights about 45 seconds away from my house -He asks for my insurance/registration/proof of insurance in which I had ready for compliance -He tells me that its illegal to have my front license plate on the dashboard and needs to be mounted -He goes and finishes paper work taking a long time during I have to pee greatly -He comes back gives me my ticket and I asked him respectfully Why he waited so long to pull me over and he says "Because I Can" -I tilt and rage and say you must be fucking bored / you probably saw a sports car and just wanted to issue a fucking ticket -He then gives me a dirty look and says "your free to go" all the while the manner he spoke to me was very demeaning as if I was the scum of the earth just for not having my front license plate mounted or just because im young. Could he have given me a warning and documented it? of course he could considering it was the first time this has happened to me and when I bought the car the front plate was already like that, regardless of that fact considering he could have never known it was bought like that he still could given me a warning for something so minor. So please next time don't jump to unfounded assumptions about my attitude towards the cop, and again in the title I say its a Rage / Whine blog its easy to surmise that while I wrote this I wasn't exactly content. EDIT: These are the exact words I said when I asked about why he waited so long "Excuse me sir, I am curious. Why did you wait so long to pull me over?" I wasn't being condescending I was being formal and respectful. I was genuinely curious and I did state in the OP that he could have thought I was being condescending, regardless, his response was so childish and unprofessional that I tilted and stopped giving a fuck and I think that in my place many others would too.

Poor word choice. I think he's a jerk for doing what he did. I'm glad the cops here only go after the obvious drunk drivers. You can get away with a lot where I live.

As he was taking his time I was saying in my head how stupid it was saying he probably was just doing it because I drive a sports car and how he must really be bored to wait so fucking long to pull me over because I was frustrated, I was completely respectful to him to his face until he said because I can before then I really had no reason to actually say or be disrespectful to him because it was technically against the law regardless of how stupid it is considering many states only require a back license plate.

You broke the law, and people typically get tickets for that. Warnings are given out at the cop's discretion, and he apparently thought you didn't deserve it (and no, I doubt he looked at your 20 year old car and was like, 'WHOA, WHAT A RICH PRICK'). No one has to give you a warning for being stupid and not knowing the rules.

Secondly, that sucks D: I feel for you. I have had cops be really nice though. One day i was comming back from work and I was really REALLLY tired. I ran a red light right infront of a cop. The cop pulled me over and asked me "did you see what you just did etc etc" I apologized and told the cop that I had been working late and i was very tired comming back ( I had been working longer hours) I told him i was very sorry and I really needed to get home and get rest so I could recover. He looked at me for a bit (sort of like trying to see if i was an honest person or not). Then he said sigh this is just a warning this time, just get some rest and he let me go o-o

Im not going to argue about the ignorance piece anymore and its obvious you arn't expected to know every single law and rule to the road otherwise you wouldn't be allowed to miss any questions on the written and you would be required to get 100% on the driven test. Its surprising how many people don't know (including the police) simple things like being able to turn left on a red light onto a one way street if traffic allows, or that if a policeman in his cruiser is parked on the side of the street hes legally not allowed to ticket you if he doesn't at least have his parking lights on, and (at least here) a policeman isn't allowed to be outside his vehicle when he radars you and I have in the thread noted and acknowledged that I did break the law and understood that part, and I was more or less going on the lines that a police man is more inclined to take notice or follow a Sports car then your average SUV or commuting car, not a WHAT A RICH PRICK thing if you find that BS g4u this is what i found in my experiences. I just think it was minor enough to give a warning for its not like I get pulled over frequently and I know for a fact my county doesn't have a quota.

Ignorance isn't a defense against breaking a law, no matter how trivial you think it is. That's a law so that people don't put it in the windshield (making it hard to read) and take off when they do something retarded and get away with it. The cop not giving you a break doesn't make him a dick. He doesn't have to do that... so, in essence, this is yet another stupid whiny cop blog where the supposed victim is just complaining he got caught.

the cop could also call you a stupid faggot while giving you a ticket and that would probably be 100% legal but he would still be a dick for it

Likely, he read the plates, radioed to HQ and waited to see if he was going to do anything else illegal. Like I said before, the reason it's illegal is cuz it conceals the plate #, and he certianly could be right to suspect that he's making it hard to read the plates because he's gonna do something dumb.

I drove by a ride program once, where they were pulling people over to check if they were drinking or not. The cop was making a waving signal, so I thought he was waving me on, telling me to go ahead through. For some reason he was waving to get me to stop (?). They ended up yelling at getting me out of my car, and one cop got up in ma face while 2 others searched my car, with my drunken friends in it. He told me i could get a fuckin $440 ticket for wreckless driving, because i misinterpreted his fuckin hand signals. I too share your hatred for these type of people.

Ignorance is no excuse, and why should you get special treatment by getting a warning? Sure a warning is nice when you get one, but cops are in no way obligated to give them out just so you don't get upset. I do agree though, that him saying "because I can" was very rude and uncalled for.

I had a cop give me a verbal warning for going 15 over when I was having a really bad day and I really didn't need another ticket. He did all the paperwork too, but was really cool about it. I also had a cop combine 3-4 charges into 2 (driving with a suspended license, reckless driving); he dropped a driving without the required paperwork and a "going 30 over the limit". Of course, I also had a cop give me a ticket for "not waiting for a pedestrian", because the pedestrian was 6 inches off the curb when I began moving forward slowly in order to complete my turn. That shit is fucking annoying, of course.
