I've had a shitty night at work, I got a bloody nose that lasted for 15 minute, personally I really hate feeling like a burden, at work, at home it doesn't really matter I'd rather work through it than be told to sit there and do nothing while others cleanup what I didn't finish, it bugs me I hate it nuff said. So I was a bit dizzy after that waited like 10 minutes to gain composure and drove home. (I drive a 1990 Nissan 300zx) I did the speed limit it was raining I was a bit dizzy and I have rear-wheel drive and all the weights at the front of my car so safety was in mind at this point, I get on the offramp to go home essentially when I pass a cop, he does a U-turn using the onramp of the freeway (is this legal? if i can find some gay ass loophole im more than willing to do so) and follows me in town for about 8 minutes, as Im about to turn right onto my street to do an IMMEDIATE LEFT to my own street he turns on his lights and gets me for my license plate being on my dashboard. He blantantly isn't going to let me off with a warning as he is writing the paper work as he pulls up to my car I give him my info and he goes back to his car to finish (Meanwhile I have to pee sooooooooooooooooooooo fucking bad) by the time he comes back I am about ready piss my pants and am thoroughly pissed off more for the fact that I have to pee and hes taking his sweet ass time than me getting a ticket, But asoon as he gives me a ticket I say 'So why exactly did you wait so long to pull me over?' and he responds promptly with "Because I Can." in which I immediatly hate this asshole so I pop with "God you must be fucking bored or you said LOL SPORTS CAR LETS TICKET HIM" in which he gives me a dirty look and says "your free to go". And now I dont have the money to actually pay for this ticket in Due time and my next paycheck isn't until next week so now I have to ask my gf to loan me money which I also hate, regardless if im paying her back or not I dont like borrowing money from anyone, and am raging so hard how gay he was. I honestly didn't know that it was illegal I bought the car with the license plate on the dashboard as is I dont see why you cant warn someone for something so minor (according to my gf's father (who is a cop) they document you even if they dont ticket you) document it then let me fucking go knowing it, its fucking rediculous. gahhh jedaslIfdshatealkfljthateaoacopofjkdslajfe

That sucks. But did you really say "LOL SPORTS CAR LETS TICKET HIM" to a cop? That would be pretty awesome if it was a direct quote.

1. You can appeal the ticket.
2. You never have to pay anything within the first week.
3. You dont have to do anything until you receive the notice from the court, usually 1-3 weeks after the ticket is issued.

yes its a direct quote I literally said LOL

EDIT: it was one of those things where I thought that and wasn't going to say the "LOL" part but it kinda came out as I recited it (yes I kinda rehearsed it in my head as he was taking his sweet ass time)

And usually if you plead guilty and don't bull shit to the judge your fine will be reduced. I've never had a ticket, but my friend gets a few per year and has really mastered the court room approach.

Edit: fucking quote tag not working T.T

hmm, maybe because its such a small thing its different than a ran stomp sign or a speeding ticket, you can often at least get it postponed especially if you state its a financial hardship (you have no money right now).

You should ask him tips on that approach ;]

also dont you have to pay court fees if you do that anyway :/ wouldn't that cost more than actually paying the ticket outright?

You haven't gotten a ticket for pulling over for an ambulance yet have you? Stop bitching.

Edit: Actually that comes off pretty rude, I don't mean it quite as bad as it probably sounds. More like I've gotten worse so feel better sort of way, and yeah cops are pretty much dicks if they are doing traffic duty. I've yet to see one traffic cop not be a dick, not that I have a lot of experience, but those I have seen are total ass-holes, and I've heard countless stories.

Can he actually wait and follow you for 15 minutes for this? Maybe this violates the due-process.

lol before I read your edit I was like wow your a dick but I understand what you mean and tbh I probably would have been less upset if he just pulled me over then and there not waiting almost 10 minutes to do it

@illu: I have no clue im going to look into it and ask my gf's father t.t;

my one and only run-in with the fuzz was turning into what was actually the lane of oncoming traffic at an intersection, which i thought was a seperated left turning lane, as every other intersection along this road had offered. as soon as i got into it i realized something was up, so i stopped the truck and was gonna wait for the little group of traffic sitting at the now-green light to pass me by before backing out np

of course, the first thing i see upon stopping my vehicle is the cherries flashing on the first vehicle off the line at the intersection.

he came over and after asking the standard questions, (license, insurance, how many drinks, where u goin) told me that some idiot had come by and smashed the sign off the concrete divider with his SUV and he understood why i thought it was the turning lane LOL, he blocked traffic for me as i pulled out, and apparently drove way the hell faster than i did because i saw him standing outside his cruiser with some other idiot pulled over on the street right next to my destination. he smiled and waved

The answer "because I can" is so fucking bad. When parents used to give it.. made me rage bad.

Sucks dude.

But yeah, I haven't had to pay anything in terms of a ticket for at LEAST a month. And even then you can set up a pay plan.. if you can scrounge together 50$ a month you don't need to borrow.

I dont know where you live, but in california its illegal for a cop to follow you for more than two miles and then ticket you... has something to do with making people nervous to make a mistake happen.
Why?

Only in America

Shouldn't replied with "I could punch in the face right now, purely because I can, and I know I will regret not doing so."

yeah when he said because I can I was so bewildered, especially from a cop, even if he said something like I wasn't exactly sure if you had front plates or not I probably wouldn't have thought much about it. I don't know if he thought I was being condescending or something which at that point I didn't have much of an attitude and wasn't being so I was just really curious because I thought it was weird, after that I just said fuck you in my head and didn't really give a flying mutalisk (although having them handy to snipe his ass woulda been preferred)

alright ill look into the payment plan too if I didn't buy new shoes and the new/old pokemon I wouldn't be in this predicament but I don't have future-sight like Noctowl :<

Yeah my gf's father told me they do that on purpose. Ive also had cops on the highway do that too me, They've gotten on the highway on the on ramp around the same time ive passed them then hung back for a bit till im pretty much out of distance then shoot forward 80+ and get into the lane behind me like they are going to pull me over all without their lights on then get off the next exit, It was so baffling for me the first time I was like " Fucking great im getting pulled over" then he just chilled behind me and got off the exit I then proceeded to WTF seems so unnecessary and obviously gay I got pulled over one time because a undercover was riding my ass so hard to where I couldn't see more than half of my hood so I sped up about 10 over got into the other lane went back down to 60 and he pulled behind me and pulled me over, I learned my lesson after that I fought that one and got it appealed tho. Just shows how gay they are tho.

Yes, only in America do cops act like dicks.

Thanks for the input.

cops, in my experience, are just like most other people. some are power-drunk; some love meddling with others; some are nice, and some are just having a bad day.

you never know who you're going to get when you get pulled over. think of it as playing zelda when you kick open a treasure chest and you hear the "dun dun dun duuun!" or Christmas, whichever you like.

i've probably been pulled over 15x(i blame my vehicle), and only a few of those experiences were very bad, half of them were purely professional, and about 1/3-1/2 were as good as you could possible expect for being pulled over. some of the cops were quite nice.

just remember, it pays to be respectful. and it's also a good habit to have.

That's not justice. Cops are not there to protect you. Don't say one word to a cop. As for the legal process, I have been doing some reading in that area, but not enough to give you any help, but only enough to say ask for Common Law court, and not the de-facto Admiralty Court that gives all the power to the judge. The Judge in actuality, has no power. So research that if you want.

All of my run-ins with the police have been like this. They're all just power hungry dicks by nature, there's something fundamentally wrong with a person who wants all that power over other people. I've never met an honest cop, but i'm sure they actually exist... somewhere.

"because i can" would tilt the shit out of me.

Imo best reaction is to just sound arrogant as fuck, since the reason they pulled u over is to try to piss you off(in this kind of case), just look at the ticket and chuckle a bit and be like "oh its only x$? haha okay...".

Never had a bad experience with a cop. One pulled me over for doing 94 in a 65, but reduced the speed he recorded me as going and my ticket was only $60. Other time I got pulled over for going too slow (thanks to the driving instructor I had in the car). He saw the instructor, and let me go. Instructor decided I had passed the course. I think he was embarrassed. Only other run in was getting picked up for matching the description of someone who invaded an apartment (blonde with baseball cap lol). Told him it wasn't me, he drove me over there, the people who lived there said it wasn't me, I went home.

The one guy could have not given me a ticket, the second could have ignored me going a little slow, the third could have not picked me up for matching a vague description, but none of that shit pissed me off. I'm fine with how they all went.

I'm guessing you are leaving the part of the story out where you told the cop how 'gay' he is over and over again. I read through this thread and you really need to cut back on the 'this is gay that is gay' shit lol

Good luck getting the ticket removed but you really have no right to complain about the cop's attitude after you were just as bad.

After being so disrespectful to a cop that pulled him over he's lucky all he got that night was an arrogant response... and the OP probably doesn't realize it.

well considering I was completely respectful to the cop until he told me "because I can" Your comment is extremely irrelevant, I actually think its better to be respectful to them so as to not piss them off or maybe they will be nice to you. and under the circumstances it was hard to not be pissed off afterward which could be why I did a "this is gay that is gay" "shit" in the OP (in actuality if you don't count these two that I am using to prove a point you've used it half as much as I have in that post). How about I actually re-summarize it for you so don't completely misinterpret it again

-I got on the off ramp into my town where I live after work
-A cop in the opposite lane flipped a U-turn in using the on ramp to the freeway and sped up a bit to be close behind me
-The cop followed me for a good 8-10 minutes
-The Cop turns on his lights about 45 seconds away from my house
-He asks for my insurance/registration/proof of insurance in which I had ready for compliance
-He tells me that its illegal to have my front license plate on the dashboard and needs to be mounted
-He goes and finishes paper work taking a long time during I have to pee greatly
-He comes back gives me my ticket and I asked him respectfully Why he waited so long to pull me over and he says "Because I Can"
-I tilt and rage and say you must be fucking bored / you probably saw a sports car and just wanted to issue a fucking ticket
-He then gives me a dirty look and says "your free to go"

all the while the manner he spoke to me was very demeaning as if I was the scum of the earth just for not having my front license plate mounted or just because im young. Could he have given me a warning and documented it? of course he could considering it was the first time this has happened to me and when I bought the car the front plate was already like that, regardless of that fact considering he could have never known it was bought like that he still could given me a warning for something so minor.

So please next time don't jump to unfounded assumptions about my attitude towards the cop, and again in the title I say its a Rage / Whine blog its easy to surmise that while I wrote this I wasn't exactly content.

EDIT: These are the exact words I said when I asked about why he waited so long "Excuse me sir, I am curious. Why did you wait so long to pull me over?" I wasn't being condescending I was being formal and respectful. I was genuinely curious and I did state in the OP that he could have thought I was being condescending, regardless, his response was so childish and unprofessional that I tilted and stopped giving a fuck and I think that in my place many others would too.

I'm not one of those trying to say you were disrespectful to the cop before the "Because I can" part, but the line you rehearsed isn't exactly respectful, and it sounds like you intended to say it even before he said the "Because I can"

But I just like to nitpick, so don't mind me.

Sucks that it happened to you though, man. I've only had a few experiences with the police, and one of them was far from good.

How is he gay because of this?

Poor word choice.

I think he's a jerk for doing what he did. I'm glad the cops here only go after the obvious drunk drivers. You can get away with a lot where I live.

I did rehearse it in my head a bit because I was annoyed at getting a ticket for something so minor and because I knew I couldn't afford it also rehearsing probably isn't the correct word. As he was taking his time I was saying in my head how stupid it was saying he probably was just doing it because I drive a sports car and how he must really be bored to wait so fucking long to pull me over because I was frustrated, I was completely respectful to him to his face until he said because I can before then I really had no reason to actually say or be disrespectful to him because it was technically against the law regardless of how stupid it is considering many states only require a back license plate.

Even if it's minor, you were breaking the law. Ignorance isn't an excuse.... remind me again how he's a dick for doing his job? There's nothing illegal about busting a u-turn there or following you. He could have been reading plates, getting authorization from hq, etc. He has no obligation to give you a warning, and more than likely, if you didn't get one, it's because you were probably acting all smug the entire time.

Jesus why do people assume that I was an asshole to him straight from the get-go I had no reason to act smug(Edit: In fact I feel being pulled over is actually a bit embarrassing and slightly humiliating), Ignorance can be an excuse when you arn't genuinely informed, Hell cops dont even know every single RCW law they are supposed to abide by themselves. I was asking a question if its illegal to use a on-ramp for a u-turn because they are considered one way streets so its a legitimate question, and I didn't tilt until he said because I can.

Ignorance isn't an excuse, I don't know what makes you think it is. Law's a law, and you don't get a pass for that (not to mention, you're expected to know the rules of the road when you get your license.... otherwise, you honestly shouldn't be driving)

You broke the law, and people typically get tickets for that. Warnings are given out at the cop's discretion, and he apparently thought you didn't deserve it (and no, I doubt he looked at your 20 year old car and was like, 'WHOA, WHAT A RICH PRICK'). No one has to give you a warning for being stupid and not knowing the rules.

Okay two things. The plate shouldn't be on the dashboard. Maybe you got it that way, but it's not supposed to be there...you just got hit with the ticket on a bad day, not like the cop knows if you have a good or bad day when he pulls you over.

Secondly, that sucks D: I feel for you. I have had cops be really nice though. One day i was comming back from work and I was really REALLLY tired. I ran a red light right infront of a cop. The cop pulled me over and asked me "did you see what you just did etc etc" I apologized and told the cop that I had been working late and i was very tired comming back ( I had been working longer hours) I told him i was very sorry and I really needed to get home and get rest so I could recover. He looked at me for a bit (sort of like trying to see if i was an honest person or not). Then he said sigh this is just a warning this time, just get some rest and he let me go o-o
always tired -_-

Good luck getting the ticket removed but you really have no right to complain about the cop's attitude after you were just as bad.

After being so disrespectful to a cop that pulled him over he's lucky all he got that night was an arrogant response... and the OP probably doesn't realize it.

I was more annoyed at first when I wrote the thread which is why I wrote whine/rage in thread title you should expect as much but throughout our little disagreement ive been mostly level headed.

Im not going to argue about the ignorance piece anymore and its obvious you arn't expected to know every single law and rule to the road otherwise you wouldn't be allowed to miss any questions on the written and you would be required to get 100% on the driven test. Its surprising how many people don't know (including the police) simple things like being able to turn left on a red light onto a one way street if traffic allows, or that if a policeman in his cruiser is parked on the side of the street hes legally not allowed to ticket you if he doesn't at least have his parking lights on, and (at least here) a policeman isn't allowed to be outside his vehicle when he radars you and I have in the thread noted and acknowledged that I did break the law and understood that part, and I was more or less going on the lines that a police man is more inclined to take notice or follow a Sports car then your average SUV or commuting car, not a WHAT A RICH PRICK thing if you find that BS g4u this is what i found in my experiences. I just think it was minor enough to give a warning for its not like I get pulled over frequently and I know for a fact my county doesn't have a quota.

Each time someone posts a rage/whine thread, there will be sympathizers and um non-sympathizers?

I really don't see why you rage and whine and then defend your rage and whining. If you have time to do this, you would have had enough time to properly attach your plate

Soooo go prove me wrong and go to court and say, 'Judge, I did not know this law existed, and I'd like to challenge my ticket'. Please, tell me what happens.

Ignorance isn't a defense against breaking a law, no matter how trivial you think it is. That's a law so that people don't put it in the windshield (making it hard to read) and take off when they do something retarded and get away with it. The cop not giving you a break doesn't make him a dick. He doesn't have to do that... so, in essence, this is yet another stupid whiny cop blog where the supposed victim is just complaining he got caught.

the point is not that he got the ticket, the point is that the cop car deliberately followed him for eight minutes when he could have pulled him over at any time, until he got to his house, arguably for the sole purpose of being an asshole

the cop could also call you a stupid faggot while giving you a ticket and that would probably be 100% legal but he would still be a dick for it
But why?

he seemed to rage about getting the ticket and paying for it for a good paragraph or more. he also did rage about it being on his windshield because he "got it that way"

edit, he raged about the law too

How is that dick lol. Likely, he read the plates, radioed to HQ and waited to see if he was going to do anything else illegal. Like I said before, the reason it's illegal is cuz it conceals the plate #, and he certianly could be right to suspect that he's making it hard to read the plates because he's gonna do something dumb.

I've had a couple sour experiences like this, especially with young cops. They power trip and abuse everything they can in order to show some sort of dominance when dealing with people my age.

I drove by a ride program once, where they were pulling people over to check if they were drinking or not. The cop was making a waving signal, so I thought he was waving me on, telling me to go ahead through. For some reason he was waving to get me to stop (?). They ended up yelling at getting me out of my car, and one cop got up in ma face while 2 others searched my car, with my drunken friends in it. He told me i could get a fuckin $440 ticket for wreckless driving, because i misinterpreted his fuckin hand signals.

I too share your hatred for these type of people.

I really doubt the cop tailed you for 8 minutes. Maybe you were both driving the same speed but I doubt he was purposefully following you.

lol I got pulled over in my prelude 2 times. They always follow my car, it's so annoying. One time they pulled me for having one headlight bulb going dead but he ticketed me for my exhaust. The other time I got pulled over was because my gps was in the center instead of the side >_>..

Saying he should have just given you a warning is stupid and that you didn't "know" it was illegal is worse.

Ignorance is no excuse, and why should you get special treatment by getting a warning?

Sure a warning is nice when you get one, but cops are in no way obligated to give them out just so you don't get upset.

I do agree though, that him saying "because I can" was very rude and uncalled for.

Er, your complaining occurred after you were just as bad. Maybe you weren't annoying to him before he was annoying to you, but that's not relevant to my point hence my claim that you are assuming things incorrectly. If you hadn't done anything that is fairly immature prior to making your thread then I would have had more sympathy.

Most people don't realize law enforcement is a job too. These people aren't doing it because they love their country, they love their citizens, or they want to enforce the law. They do it for the money.

Saw these greedy mother-fuckers pulling over parents dropping off their kids at a nearby daycare center because apparently it was a "NO PARKING ANYTIME" zone, when they could be fucking busting drug deals 50 miles away.

You get both kinds, the dicks and the decent guys. I've had more my share of the decent guys, even though traffic cops in suburbia are generally bored motherfuckers and don't have the best reputation, a lot of them really are nice guys.

I had a cop give me a verbal warning for going 15 over when I was having a really bad day and I really didn't need another ticket. He did all the paperwork too, but was really cool about it.

I also had a cop combine 3-4 charges into 2 (driving with a suspended license, reckless driving); he dropped a driving without the required paperwork and a "going 30 over the limit".

Of course, I also had a cop give me a ticket for "not waiting for a pedestrian", because the pedestrian was 6 inches off the curb when I began moving forward slowly in order to complete my turn. That shit is fucking annoying, of course.
